size of the table with the compress and no compression

Hello
I have a table takes up 35.5 GB of space with 120 mill inside files.
I thought that compress would save me a lot of space, so I did.

Here's how I compressed:
I created a separate tablespace and in the new tablespace, I created several database, files, each file is to have 2 GB.
then insert all the records out of the original table to the new then,
I ran the query below see also size

SQL > select ((blocks*8192)-(blocks*avg_space)) / 1024/1024 MB size of "", empty_blocks,.
2 avg_space, num_freelist_blocks
user_tables 3
4 where table_name = 'strategy '.

Size MB EMPTY_BLOCKS AVG_SPACE NUM_FREELIST_BLOCKS
---------- ------------ ---------- -------------------
2059.88281 0 0 0

----------------------------------------

Select ((blocks*8192)-(blocks*avg_space)) / 1024/1024 "size MB", empty_blocks,.
2 avg_space, num_freelist_blocks
user_tables 3
4 where table_name = 'strategy '.

Size MB EMPTY_BLOCKS AVG_SPACE NUM_FREELIST_BLOCKS
---------- ------------ ---------- -------------------
35504.2422 0 0 0

in above query first a 2 GB on all resultant space after compress and the second is the original with NO size to compress.

I have a question are these calculated dimensions are reliable. ?
because the utility compress oracle inserts data in blocks in the database files.
If these blocks are to halfway filled and left empty and then go to the next block and so forth.

Is above sizes to account for empty blocks... ?

I don't know how to explain it
Help, please
JP

I don't see where you use compression. So I don't know what you mean by compress. If you mean native compression, use something like:

SQL> create table tbl as select * from dba_source;

Table created.

SQL> select  sum(bytes)
  2    from  user_segments
  3    where segment_name = 'TBL'
  4  /

               SUM(BYTES)
-------------------------
                159383552

SQL> alter table tbl move compress
  2  /

Table altered.

SQL> select  sum(bytes)
  2    from  user_segments
  3    where segment_name = 'TBL'
  4  /

               SUM(BYTES)
-------------------------
                124780544

SQL>

SY.

    Hello

    I try to find the size of a CLOB to a table column and get the error

    PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in the call to "GETLENGTH.

    When you try to use dbms_lob.getlength. Here is the code

    declare
    number num.
    Start
    for rec in (select xmlupload from FILE_TABLE where file_table_id = 33635) loop
    NUM: = dbms_lob.getLength (rec.xmlupload);
    end loop;
    dbms_output.put_line (num);
    end;

    Database version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi

    I'm actually trying to find the size of a table with CLOB columns, is there an easy way to do this Besides using getlength and without having to contact the Administrators (they are outsourced)?

    It works fine on my computer, the version is also 10g.

    SQL> declare
      2  num number;
      3  begin
      4 for rec in (select cntnt from ims_toms_msge where rownum<3) loop
      5  num := dbms_lob.getLength(rec.cntnt);
      6  dbms_output.put_line(num);
      7  end loop;
      8
      9  end;
     10  /

    3837

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    You should check if xmlupload is the CLOB data type.
    In addition, if you just want to get the CLOB size, you can use LENGTH() as well, you will get the same result;

    SQL>  select length(cntnt), dbms_lob.getLength(cntnt) from ims_toms_msge where rownum<2;

    LENGTH(CNTNT) DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(CNTNT)

  • Table with fixed header and the left column

    I created a table in my application with the fixed left column (left most column is fixed and remaining columns are scrolling from left to right). is it possible to create a table with fixed position and fixed left column?

    Suppose there are 50 rows and 10 columns in my paintings, and only 3 columns and 15 rows are visiable on the screen

    (1) when the user scroll left to right left only most of the columns must be fixed. Remaining cap of the table and column scroll left to right and vice versa. also

    (2) when user scroll high high bottems single topic most must be fixed and remaining all lines (with to the left most column) should be scrollable.

    I am able to put in place a point at the top, but not both. Please suggest

    "If I repopulate the value in the cell when user scrolling, shell, I get scrolling effect correctly as it only shows half cell when the user highlight half of the cell."

    Approach using TablelayoutManager display single cells and scrolling would be cell at a time.  And Yes, you will need to override navigationMovement and n of methods appropriate TouchEvent your TableLayoutManager so that he knows when to fill the cells.

    Another alternative is to have four managers, we don't the the upper left corner (the dead angle), one to make the top row (column headings), one to make the left column (row headings), and the other to do the rest (data).  Place all these in a delicate header and line manager.  Only allow the user to scroll the data part.  Have the difficult Manager to listen the scroll events.  Then have the wily Manager add and remove the dummy column and header line managers as appropriate.  Note that these topic fields would not good passes, they would be either there or they would not be displayed. That would give you your 1/2 a scroll of the cell.  And you wouldn't have to substitute anything to detect movement, you would have left the listener do scrolling for you.

  • Metric of the influence of the size of the PGA and UGA County cursors

    Hello!

    If I have the right to understand,
    the child cursors County growthing indirectly affects the size of the PGA and UGA,
    If that's true, how to receive absolute metric (* GA, no Shared Pool)?

    Thank you
    Paul

    Published by: Paul on 06.02.2012 21:28

    Hi Paul,.

    To be more precise, I refer to the implicit cursors that are stored in the library cache. Please do not confuse with the cursors that are defined explicitly in pl/sql.

    For each identical sql statement, oracle will create the shared cursor (library cache), if this is the first time that the statement is then executed as said previously it will create the cursor in LB, so is the second time, the same SQL statement is executed then oracle will share already created the cursor to the second statement.
    Under normal circumstances for each identical instruction, there are 1 parent and 1 child of the cursor.

    Consider the example next where the sql statement appears to be the same but do not share already created cursor and therefore it must create a new.

    Session executed following queries:

    Select the name of the employee; -> It is that first time sql is executed, then oracle will open a new cursor. In a specific cursor, you have the code sql and other execution information.

    Session B executed after the request:

    Select the name of the employee; -> Here statement SQL makes sense even with above but this will create a new cursor, so already open for session A will not be shared. Note here that the SELECT is uppercase, then oracle think it's the different statement and thus create a new cursor.

    It's an example where difference in uppercase letter oracle thinks it's a new statement. But there are other schenarios where the same situation occurs.
    Another reason for cursor not shared are in V$ SQL_SHARED_CURSOR.

    Although oracle database running in the situation where the sliders are not shared, then this can lead to performance impact hugh like lock in shared long, shared pool leak memory pool, library catch latch etc.. More important, which will require another cursor important to eliminate memory to place a new

    I hope you already know, what is analysis difficult. If this increase the situation of hard analysis, which may further affect the performance.

  • Change the size of the resolution and the image does not change the result on the screen?

    I use Photoshop CS3. I'm changing the resolution of several images that will be printed in a newspaper. So the current images are 72 dpi and really huge - for example 36 x 27 inches (size of the document), and when I change it to 300 dpi, the size of the image to reduce to about 8 x 6 inches, as I hope. But the image I see on the screen does not change. Thus, for example, when I open the image originally, it's 33% and the entire image is visible. After I change the resolution and the size of the image has changed accordingly, the image appears to be always the same and it remains at 33%. The image should not shrink on the screen because its size has been reduced? Or if she stays the same on the screen, the percentage should not change? I mean if the size of the document is now 8 x 6, it should be able to display at 100% and not to fill my whole screen... I'm so confused. Thank you...

    Gradded,

    The "Size of the Document" of the dialog box size of the Image is just to specify the size (in inches) that your document will be printed. The ppi adjustment has nothing to do with what is displayed on your monitor. Your monitor does not care something about PPI. The monitor contains a number of pixels and after you change this setting, ppp, the monitor will always be the same number of pixels.

    As long as you leave the box "Resampling" disabled, will not change the size of your image (pixel Dimensions). You won't see any change on your monitor. If you check "Resample", then the size (in pixels) of your image will change.

    I hope this helps.

  • RoboHelp 11-problem with dropdown lists fonts, size of the police and Zoom

    I have a user guide that was created before I became technical editor. I started using RoboHelp 7 and I do not know if this guide was created in an earlier version of RoboHelp. I myself upgraded to RoboHelp 9 and then to version 11. The file contains 3237 files, 480 records and the size is 64.5 MB. I had someone save me when I was away from the office. She used different fonts on certain topics than what has been used in the rest of the guide. (Arial was used in the guide, using Calibri). I am now updating of the guide and I can't change the font. When my cursor is sitting on the text within a topic title fields and police continue to Flash. Header flashes normal flashing title 1 and police Times New Roman and Arial. When I click on the drop down menu to police, I cannot select anything because the drop guard scrolling, if I try to scroll to the top menu drop-down continues dating back to Time New Roman. And it happens if fast, that I can't click on a selection. I tried you select the font in the topic and do a right click on the mouse select font. I am able to choose the font that I want, but when I click on OK, the police is not displayed in size, it should be. 12 very small poster font size. Anyone know what can cause this problem and what can I do about it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    What happens if you choose no for the Style sheet associated with?

  • How to find the size of a table with CLOB

    Hello

    I have a table with CLOB as follows:

    SQL > desc INFO_MESSAGES

    Name                                      Null?    Type

    ----------------------------------------- -------- ----------------------------

    CLNT_OID NOT NULL VARCHAR2 (16)

    USR_OID NOT NULL VARCHAR2 (16)

    LAST_client_msg_ID VARCHAR2 (36)

    LAST_client_msg_DATE DATE

    LAST_client_msg CLOB

    LAST_USR_MSG_BOD_ID VARCHAR2 (36)

    DATE OF LAST_USR_MSG_DATE

    CLOB LAST_USR_MSG

    Now I just want to find out what is the size/area total absorbed by the table (including the CLOB columns), so how can I find? I think that the usual command does not - the

    Select format from dba_segments where nom_segment = "INFO_MESSAGES" is only showing 7 MB, while I think that the table has several GB of space due to the CLOB.

    Also to add one more detail: when dba_segments seeking, I see a result like this:

    Select * of dba_segments order by bytes DESC;

    MIGRTN SYS_LOB0000111131C00008$ $ LOBSEGMENT SAMS DATA1 20690 6 1963 14528000 119013376000 <-the top row

    MIGRTN this is the schema where this INFO_MESSAGES table is present.

    Thanks,

    OrauserN

    you will need to add the segment_size of the LOB segments to the segment_size of the table. The connection between the two pieces of information you find in USER_LOBS (or the corresponding ALL_, DBA_ objects).
