Sizes of icons for Windows 7

My application is running in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and I use LabWindows/CVI 10.0.1. I created an icon file in the editor of icons included. I kept the size 32 x 32 and 16 x 16 default and added 48 x 48 and 256 x 256, all with 32-bit color versions. I put the settings of the target to use this new icon.

When I look at the folder containing the executable file of my application in Windows Explorer and go through the different methods of the folder view, not all sizes of the icon. Picture 16 x 16 is used for views list and details, and I increase the size of icons versions of 32 x 32 and 48 x 48 seem to kick. Then, when the size of the icons gets in the Middle, I see LabWindows/CVI default icon (the one that looks like a window with the symbol "cvi" inside). As I do even bigger icons, possibly version 256 x 256 of my custom icon takes over.

MSDN seems to say that these three dimensions are all necessary sizes for Windows 7. How can I replace the application icon "cvi" default for all sizes? Is it necessary to use a different icon editor to create a few different sizes of icon image?

Thank you

Brian

What is probably happening is that your icon cache is corrupt. Searching online, I found different ways to solve this problem and none of them 'official' Microsoft, so I hesitate to recommend a way to rebuild your icon cache. However, I have to solve this was delete C:\Users\\AppData\Local\IconCache.db and restart my system. The IconCache.db was rebuilt and the correct icon shows for larger sizes rather than the default. It seems that the first icon, you display the size large/XLarge remains stuck in the IconCache. For example, I changed my icon before the consultation at a larger size (never seen the CVI icon) and the icon I used was the one stuck to the size large/XLarge. I don't think it will be a problem on a target system because you will not modify the icon we that you distribute the application.

It's not not clear to me, if there is a problem with a Windows bug (I saw similar reports on various forums, but nothing official), with our editor icons, or how ICB home icons from executables. I filed bug 354481 to investigate this issue report.

  • Icon for Windows Media Player in the taskbar

I changed the icon of the shortcut of Windows Media Player.  When I open Windows Media Player, I would like the icon in the taskbar to be the same icon for the shortcut.  How can I accomplish this?

    Windows 10.

As you can see in the video, I followed the 'instructions' perfectly exactly, but clicking on the newly pinned icon translates into an 'extra' icon (the icon of Windows Media Player).  Of course, the pinned custom icon remains, of course, but another appears.  And it happens the same on all operating systems that allow pinning to taskbar (7, 8, 8.1 and 10.) If you can show otherwise I'll PayPal payment for your trouble.

  • Problem with font size in CS2 for Windows

I met a problem that I got a year ago but don't remember how to fix it. When I highlight text and look in the character palette, size shows that 9 pt (8.33 pt). When I try to change it to 10 points, the number in brackets changes and is the actual size (not 10 pt). I know that this can be fixed so that there are no brackets and which shows the size is the size, but I don't remember how to do it.

    Any suggestions?

Sometimes to restart Explorer, you can get out of this situation.  When you arrive at the blank screen, press Ctrl - Alt - Delete if all goes well a window will appear that allows you to choose 'Task Manager '.  Click on the Task Manager and when it starts, click on the "Processes" tab and then select the file-> new task.  When that window comes to the top, enter "Explorer" in the box, and then click 'OK '.  I hope that your screen will then fill.
