SL1

Got my new SL1 yesterday, unpacked all, put the battery on the charger and loaded the software on my computer.  The battery was ready for use, but when I tried to put it in, it won't stay in or 'click' into place so to speak. Anyone have any suggestions, or it happened to someone else?

Please tell me that I don't have to send the camera back whole... I was so looking forward to playing with it today after my daughter goes to school.

OMG!  Thank you!  I just turned it upside down and it works now!  I put it in with the arrow on the top and it should be on the bottom... weird.

I feel so dumb, but so happy that I don't have to send it back and can play with it today!

Thanks again, I appreciate it!

My Canon Rebel SL1 won't download pictures on my Macbook Air. I downloaded the pictures happens countless times, but recently, whenever I connect my camera to my computer the following:

iPhoto opens and it shows that my device is recognized and import the button is grayed out. The images never appear on the screen, and I am not able to do something with my photos. I have a Macbook Air, so I don't have a disk drive. I don't have a card reader.

    Please help me with this.

    Thank you

Get a card reader - they sold abut $10 - and see if that helps. Or connect to another computer - a friend even. See if that helps.

If it is not: what version of iPhoto? What version of the operating system?

  • Former 1990 EF lenses are compatible with the new EOS Rebel SL1 body

Recently, I discovered my film camera EOS 650 purchased circa 1990 with 3 EF lenses (50 mm, 35-105 mm, 100-300 mm), in perfect condition. These old lenses would be incompatible with a new EOS Rebel SL1 body?

The rebel sl1 is adjustable to use only the Center focus point?

I've never used one, but I'm sure you can.  Judging by the images I found on a Google search looking for the button in the top right rear, it looks like a rectangle with a sign in there.  Which will allow you to select your focus points.

  • Designation of bodies rebel SL1: AA vs. BA

Greetings!  I just got my first DSLR, a rebel SL1 and very happy to get into advanced photography!

Well, actually, I got two SL1s, and since I only need one I will return it.  On the two boxes, I noticed that there is a model number of different bodies.

One body is listed as 8575B 003 [AA] and the other is 8575B 0003 [BA].  What is the difference?  Now, I wonder if we stock 'B' or if 'BA' represents a revision to the body.

Someone at - it a preview?

    Just different production cycles.

  • What is the difference between t5 & sl1?

Trying to decide which camera to buy - t5 or sl1 ~ ~

    Luci says:

Trying to decide which camera to buy - t5 or sl1 ~ ~

The SL1 is the smallest and lightest DSLR. When he was introduced, he was actually higher price as a range as the T5i. But, to the largest United States is often considered better if things like a lightweight carbon fiber body did not impress.

The T5 is a newer technology, but its design goal was aimed at the lower end of the DSLR market. Generally, the T5 comes with a non - STM kit lens. While always a good start lens, versions of the STM are simply better.

    Personally I would take a SL1 with an EF-S 18-55 IS STM lens on a T5, but it's me.

  • new SL1, Q value always default key

SL1 body. When you press the key Set Q it still Image quality by default and does not allow me to manually change other parameters by using the arrows. I know that I can use the touch screen to do, but I have obviously been a Rebel T1i user for many years and am used to make the changes manually.  Please, help me to do before returning the camera.

Too bad! I called technical support and made a clear parameters, and it does not work as expected today.

  • T3i or SL1? Help, please.

    Hi all

I'm a COMPLETE departure in the sense of DSLR, I spent most of my life shooting on my Sony Cybershot P & S and my iPhone. But I am a passionate photographer and would like to improve my skills as a photographer but also to be able to take higher quality pictures (Please omit the answers to "the photographer makes a difference" in terms of photo quality, I know).

I would REALLY appreciate any input or guidance as to what an entry level DSLR I should invest in to kick out of my life as an amateur photographer.

I reduced between SL1 and T3i. I have also considered the D5200 Nikon (I know it's a Canon forum), but I just wanted to put it out there.

My priorities in what I'm looking for are:

Title of the SL1 of glory is the size.  So if that's a factor for you (d), then you have your answer.  Performance wise, they are very similar.  The T3i not continuous autofocus for video, what you want too.  The T3i is actually very appreciated for his video (compared to Canon DSLRs), but you need to install a 3rd party software called magic lantern.  I'll assume that you do not want to mess with that.  I would say the SL1 is your camera.

  • EOS Rebel SL1 Mode Dial problems

Hi, I don't know much about cameras, but I've always wanted a nice like that, and a friend of mine told me that the SL1 was good for beginners. It came in the mail today and I just started to experiment and play around with it. I don't know if it's something I did by mistake or it's just a problem with the camera, but I realized that the Mode dial is not correctly programmed. In order to develop if I had to turn the knob to the symbol A + (I'm sorry if this isn't what it's called), the camera will enter the function of sports. I'm sorry, but I really do not understand this and I would love it if someone could help me. Thank you!

    Hmmm.

On this camera, the sport mode is directly opposite the position of the mode A + (Auto).  There is a small pip as an indicator on the camera on the left side of the dial.

Are you sure you look white pip and not power on leverage as an indicator?

    If so, that's the problem.

    Otherwise:

Do ALL modes to register as one just in front of the right pair, or they are all Sports are random or something?

Patterns are printed on a sheet of thin "cap" which is literally glued on top of the handle.  I know because mine fell once and I had to stick on.  I guess it's possible they put on back at the factory, but I don't think because there was a small crack in the button and a tab in the CAP, which have to align or well you can not set the cap in the flush.

If you read right and the button won't you need to return the camera.

  • SL1 Canon DSLR: setting for recording movies from a tripod

I intend to use a tripod to record sometimes a group of us during the holidays and would like to know if the SL1 provides any kind of recording video delay start (like 2 or 10 seconds) and the record time (like 2 minutes) film. -just enough time for me to get into the film.  These features are available on the SL1 barrel?

If so, what are the parameters to define a record start delay and limit video time recording film?

If not, what are the alternatives?

I know that I can use the RC-6 remote control to activate the record on and outside, but I was hoping that I could do something with the integrated thus delay.

    Audit and thanks,

    Mike

There are wireless remote controls that can be used for this - but I don't think that you can set a delay timer as you can for the shots (and of course, you'd still stop the recording when you're finished.)

Since this is the video, just start the video rolling... and edit forward later (since you probably want to edit your clips anyway).

Regarding the registration deadline... Yes there are two limits.  The camera cannot record a video clip alone (without interruption) for more than 29 minutes and 59 seconds.  In other words... 30 minutes is a strict limit.  It is political and NOT technical.  Through the trade agreement, if a camera can record videos for more than 30 minutes then it must be classified as a 'video' camera and priced at a higher rate.  If it is limited to the records that are less than 30 minutes, it can be considered as a camera so the rates are lower.  It is a stupid restriction - but imposed by Governments who are negotiating these agreements.

The OTHER limit is the size of file and it's a technical limit even if you're unlikely to run in it.  The memory card is formatted as a FAT32 of MS-DOS file system.  It is what allows the same memory card compatible for playback from a PC or a Mac, or even a computer running Linux, if you prefer... and they can all read the card without the need for proprietary drivers (no license fees come into play here).  BUT... the FAT32 file system maps the files in a way that limits the maximum size of a single file to 4 GB. It is probably much more likely that you will be able to run within the limits of 30 rule minutes that the size limit of 4 GB.

  • The lens Canon Macro 60 mm f2.8 fits my Canon EOS Rebel SL1?

The lens Canon Macro 60 mm f2.8 work on my Canon EOS Rebel SL1?

    Yes.  It's a lens EF - S (EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens)

The SL1 Rebel can use almost any lens Canon EOS... regardless of EF-S vs EF.  He can even use the TS-E and MP-E lenses.

Lenses which does not take your camera are the "EF - M" lenses (there are two of them at last I checked).  Those who are made to the 'mirrorless' body of Canon, which is not sold in North America.

  • SL1 as master wireless?

So back to DSLR photography and learning about off-camera flash.

Can I use my SL1 as a master for my 565EXII of Yongnuo off camera wireless? I had success by using the optical trigger when you don't attach a TTL cord. I was wondering if the SL1 has the ability to trigger wireless, though, without having to buy a radio trigger.

If this isn't the case, I can trigger the slave without triggering the pop-up flash?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

The built-in flash SL1 cannot control of other off-camera flashes using the optical wireless system. This is one of the features of the rebel T5i step-up models.

You will need to use the built-in flash or another type of triggering device.

See if you can set the Yongnuo to trigger the Yongnuo flash (they call it S2 mode) - built-in / pop-up flash emits two flashes - one for the calculation of the exhibition before the opening of the shutter and the other for the main exhibition.

Or you can use a Canon Speedlite 90EX or ST - E2 and Speedlite 550EX Speedlite 580EX, 580EX II Speedlite or Speedlite 600EX will be necessary to trigger the Yongnuo off camera. You can also find the Yongnuo made versions of the Canon flashes listed for less money.

Yongnuo as the YN622C radio triggers are also an option to trigger by radio.
