SL400 adding 4GB memory

I just installed 2 x 2 GB memory ram and when I check in XP it DOES not show the 4 GB Ram 2.96. I see in the lenovo website it says that SL400 can go up to 4GB. Does anyone know how to fix this problem to see the 4 GB of Ram? Someone said to change the chipset... I have no idea how to do it and what you it change too! Any help would be great!

32-bit Windows can only use 3 GB of RAM, so I think you need to go to a 64-bit (at least on Windows) operating system to use the 4 GB.

    Hi rockpebblar_1,

What model of laptop you have exactly?

On some laptop computers, you can find a location of memory under the keyboard. This means that you need to remove the keyboard first before you can exchange the RAM.

  • Pavilion 500-189: usefulness of adding additional memory to a computer desktop Pavilion 500-189

Hi - I think adding memory RAM additional to my desktop HP Pavilion computer model 500-189, bought in February 2014. It runs under Windows 10 home ed., 64 bit with RAM total to 10 GB. The computer has 4 memory slots and currently only 2 are used: slot 1 has a card 2 GB Hynix/Hyundai 1600 MHz and slot 2 has a card 8 GB Kingston 1600 MHz.

I'm currently pondering adding a single 4 GB DDR3 1600 MT/s PC3-12800 CL11 map of 240 pin unbuffered UDIMM in each of the last two slots to bring the memory total amount up to 18 GB. The total cost would be less than US $40.

My question: This inexpensive upgrade will not improve the performance of my computer or is - this exaggeration only change?

Comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Graphene, welcome to the forum.

Now, we are dealing here with reviews.  The sweet spot for memory seems to be 8 GB with Win 10.  In fact, I read that you will be hard to see a difference between 8 and 16 GB.  I use a laptop of Omen HP with 8 GB memory game.  It manages all the games that I played very well.  As you said, you already have 10 GB of memory and the processor is very fast.

Yet once, is discussed in the opinion.  In my opinion, the best upgrade that can be done today is an SSD.  My HP Omen loads games and programs incredibly quick and starts in 7 seconds or less.  I used a Samsung EVO 840 500 GB SSD in HP Phoenix Gaming desktop computer.  Again, it was incredibly fast.  Here is the SSDthat are recommended by Crucial memory.  They make great products for OEM computers.  I found the research that Samsung SSD seem to work better with HP motherboards and normally don't require changes to the BIOS works properly out of the box.   In addition, Samsung has its own Migration of data and Software Wizard software to fine-tune the SSD after installation.

This should give you pause.  If you decide to go with an SSD, I'd be happy to tell you how I did the installation.  It has worked well for me.

MY Mac mini mid-2010 is very slow.  I have 2 GB of memory and would like to increase it.  Can I do it myself or do I have to make to someone professional tech?

It is very easy to replace the RAM on a Mini from 2010-2012. See the videos:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/installvideos/mac_mini2010/

Make sure you get only the memory of a place as above which guarantees that proper operation with your Mini. Macs ae picky on memory.

  • Re: Satellite P200d-12U and 4GB memory upgrade

    Hello

I was given a Satellite P200-12U with 2 GB of friend of a friend and asked to be upgraded to 4 GB.
Have purchased and installed the memory, but noticed BIOS and still only registered WINDOWs 2GB.
    Then went into BIOS

    JASAA BIOS V1.40

and I noticed that the options are usually very limited, and that memory is indicated but not selectable.

Do I have reason to think that this machine is limited to 2 GB? And may refer the 4 GB to the shop?

    Thanks for any information.

Subject and then validation you wrote about two different laptop models.

    Satellite P200D-12U or Satellite P200-12U?

  • Adding new memory in a Satellite P100

Hi all! Sorry for my English but I'm french...

So I have a question: how many slots memory exists in the P100-198?
In fact, I opened to access the memory under the PC expansion slots. And I was surprised that I noticed the 2 units are already used by the module memory two 512 (those who have been here since I bought the PC). So my surprise is that for me this slot of 2 extension was free and not occupated by the original memory. In my view, this slots are called "expansion slots", they have to be free to upgrade.

    Thanks for your answers...

    Good bye

    Hi Alfredo.

There are only 2 memory slots in this machine, so if you want to update your RAM, you need to replace your existing modules with adults.

    That's all. ;)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A100 - adding RAM memory

I use the Satellite A100-599 noetbook with memory-1 GB - 533 Mhz, the system supports upgrade memory up to 4 GB.

I need to add another 2 GB of ram, but I found it only with 667 Mhz, the question is I can it add ram 2 GB - 667 MHz for 1 GB - 533 MHZ existing ram.
    Kind regards

You can do this, but the 2 GB 667 MHz module will only work at 533 Mhz.
The slower module would lock the module more quickly and would allows the module to operate only at 533 MHz

  • LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw: LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw - adding additional memory?

Config LJ400 M401dw report shows "total memory: 256, memory available: 183.37MBytes.»  Does this mean that I have installed 183, with a possible maximum of 256?

Access door opening on the left side of the printer shows the part of green card, but I do not see the memory installed/removable banks, nor the empty slots.

How can I go on upgrading memory on this printer to the max? And what config part number, pin,... can I order?

    Thank you!              ~ Carl

This means that the printer operating system uses some of the memory and what remains is available for work.

  • LaserJet 6 p: laserjet 6 p added unknown memory?

I have a 6 p and it has a memory card installed on one of the 3 available memory slots.

I can't tell what is the size of the memory card and call the manufacturer who said that its model number is no longer available in their database.

I've pressed the button on the printer and got the LaserJet 6 p printed page but it says ' MEt PLC6 2 technology memory improvement mbytes ".  I think that it is the internal memory and does not include the additional memory card.

Is there anyway that I can determine the size of this additional memory card?

Also, when I print the PDF files, it takes a lot of time for each page to print... maybe one minute per page. If I turn to Raster, so that the pages printed normally.  Any ideas on this issue as it only happens with PDF files that I need to print.

Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. using the Win7 for HP LaserJet 6 p printer driver.

I don't think, you can, but there is a trick you can use.  Simply load 2 copies of the printer and label a raster and the other as gl2.  Now in the properties of the appropirate to each parameter and then, when you print a pdf file, you choose the raster printer and when you print everything use you the gl2.  Also, I'm a bit confused about the use of the driver raster and gl2 and those who are usually reserved for desinjet printers that support hpgl2 and pcl3 languages.  You use the pcl5 driver which you should use for this printer.  If this is not the case, try the pcl5 driver and it should work perfectly on PDF files and other printed materials.

  • wrong time and date in the hp Pavilion a305w pc after adding memory

I took the tour of the hp Pavilion a305W (Windows XP) PC to a place where they have added memory because it was very slow.

After that, it would not start by itself, and the Date and time are not good.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

Very probably during the process of adding more memory you may disrupt the battery CMOS (or RTC) or even the chip for the BIOS itself. Please (no need to do this):

    • Reinstall the components autour RAM slots
    • Change new battery for RTC
    • Check the BIOS and reset the date hour away
    • Check the date and time of Windows.

    Kind regards.

To be honest, your post is a little confusing.
The laptop seems to support the Intel HM55 HD graphics chip and a part of the main memory would be shared by the graphics chip too.

  • RAM memory gap

My Pavillion m9458f specification says that this computer comes with 4 GB of memory.  However, when I watched this using configuration/system control panel, it says that this computer has only 2 GB of memory.   Why this discrepancy?

You now know that the original strips were probably deleted.

If you have 4 GB of memory insalled you will need to remove the two who are currently here and buy a single 4 GB module or two modules of memory of 2 GB.

Single purchase guaranteed compatible memory modules that are made by a well-known brand (as Crucial, Corsair, Kingston ) If you want to upgrade to work without problems. Adding modules memory to those who currently is present, it is only going to cause problems (probably bluescreens and starting not scenarios) since finding two identical memory modules more will be extremely difficult.  This difficulty is caused by the fact that PC2, modules of memory are no longer manufactured. You can always find them, but the cost is high plu demand of the market.they are more in demand as they were six years ago.

  • Chip and upgrade memory set on my great MacBook Pro 1.2 and want to download the latest OS to Snow Leopard. An Apple store guy did to his own personal machine, but the upgrade was a procedure in several steps. Help!

I upgraded my MacBook Pro 1.5 with CT541631 CT2KIT12864AC667.000 2 GB UPGRADE for a APPLE MACBOOK PRO 2.16 GHZ INTEL CORE DUO (17-INCH) SYSTEM. I also added more memory. The Apple Store genius who did this on his own machine was on his own because Apple does not officially support the best MacBook Pro they never built and isn't there anymore to ask questions about the OS correct necessary updates. I think he said he had to go to Lion first and then upgrade to latest, although we both agreed that El Capitan was too buggy. Anyone know what I need to do to let the download procedure OS know that my ols is now a new machine?

Where did you buy the RAM module?  If it was not directly a source of Apple, you did it sure it was for the year and the time of year of output of your model (i.e. mid-2006 MacBook Pro)?  To identify the age, go to this tip:

    http://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-6413

Specs such as CT541631 CT2KIT12864AC667.000 are totally superfluous, unless they also indicate what year and the time of year, the model came out.

I want to add some memory to my A50-522, but I want to make sure that I don't lose the guarantee of 3 years if I open the memory slot.

    Thank you

    Hi Gualtiero,

Adding additional memory RAM to your A50 should not affect your warranty at all. He is reputed to be an option of upgrade of the user, like removing/replacing the battery.

Only disassembly of components real case will void your warranty.
