Slow downloading of vSphere client host

I just installed a new free host ESXi 4.1 U1 and when I connect to the web server to download the vSphere client it is terribly slow, about 1 MB/s.  I went down the list here http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1004109, everything seems fine.

On a different host (a BladeCentre with 6 blades), we lack vCenter Server 4.1 and when I connect the vCenter Server to download the customer is 35 MB/s.  Download client by the hosts directly is slow.  For comparison, I connected to another performer 4.0 host and the client download is fast, about 35 MB/s

So my question, is there a reason, I should get these slow when connecting to some hosts directly performance?  Client download thing is annoying but can be tolerated is one thing, but I am the time I'm having problems when I start to run vms on that host?

IIRC from the ESXi 4.1 vSphere Client is no longer included in the installation of the host. When you click on the link on the web page of the host, the client will be downloaded from the Internet.

  • Unable to connect to new ESXi 5.5 with vSphere Client hosts

Completed the new installation of ESXi 5.5 on two new Dell PowerEdge servers last night.

Trying to connect to them through the vSphere client fails.

I can ping both servers without any problems from the server where the vSphere client is installed (it is not a domain controller but a Windows 2003 server - it has not .net 3.5 SP1 is installed).

If I try to open the IP address of the host in a web browser http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx expires, however, if I try http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:902 It connects to the server, but rather than get the web page, I'm used to waiting with 5.1 I get this message:

"220 VMware authentication daemon Version 1.10: required SSL, ServerDaemonProtocol:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC, VMXARGS taken in charge, taken NFCSSL in charge." I get this exact message even though I have telnet to port 902.  So I know that I can speak to the host, but have no idea why I can't connect to it or they have the tools to display in a web browser. »

Try to use the same IP address with port 902 in the vSphere client to connect, I get this error:

vSphere Client could not connect to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

A unknown connection error has occurred. (The client received an invalid response from the server. (The server committed a protocol violation. Article = ResponseStatusLine))

I noticed that there was a lag of 2 hours and 4 minutes between the host server and the client's server.  I have reset the time to match up in the BIOS of the host server.  The test gave the same results.

Probably unrelated, but throw it out there in case it points to an answer, when executing the "Test management network", ping passes to the default gateway and the DNS server secondary (which is Google 8.8.8.8) but fails for the main DNS (local IP) server and host name resolution is faulty.

Ideas, help or solution would be much appreciated.  I need to get the network to this customer virtualized this week, and I would prefer not to have to go back to 5.1 if possible.

    This is resolved.

And it's one of those things that you just kick yourself for.

I tried this on two servers, Server 2003 and using IE8

Tested a theory using a VPN to my laptop Windows 8 IE 10 and it has worked perfectly, then tested on a Server 2008 R2 using IE9 and it worked perfectly.

Installed Chrome on the two Server 2003 servers and worked perfectly.

So in the end it was IE8 that was not compatible and all the problems at the origin!

Thanks again to you Andrew for trying to help!

  • Connection to the client with VSphere ESX host makes me download the old version of the VSphere client

    Welcome the OS Version: 5.1.0 - 2013

Question: When I connect to my guests with the VSphere client it forces me to re-download the VSphere client. As you can see from the attached PDF there pretty much all installed versions. Yet, he's trying to go to vsphereclient.vmware.com to try to download again (which cannot because it is on a closed network). It is meaningless to me, as you can see I have all versions of the installed client. My boss who also has the same installed versions can connect. Actually, I installed 5.1 client so that should be enough. VSphere shows the host to 5.1.0 - 2013.

Why is this not with my Vsphere client?

Looks like your Client vSphere is version 5.1.0b (source: Match VMware vCenter 5.1 component Versions |) Virten.NET) and your ESXi host is version 5.1 Patch 4 (KB VMware: Products VMware correlating build numbers to update level )

You need download the vSphere Client 5.1 update 2 version to directly connect to this host.

  • vSphere Client Ip address/host name

Hello, newbie here.  I downloaded the vSphere client and in the process of setting up it request a host name or IP address in order to directly manage a single host.  I have no idea what hostname or IP address is it refers to.

Thanks to all those who will respond to this newbie question.

Yes, your esxi install on any of your virtual machine in your VMware Workstation during installation, you will get the details to specify a static ip address and once installed, when you want to manage this esxi in your vsphere client, that you must use the same username ROOT and password defined during installation and the IP address to connect through your vsphere client.

Please mark this as correct/useful if that answers your query.

  • Where to download Vsphere client 5.1

Please, where can I download the vsphere client - I know that I can download it from the url ESXI - but the esx host is on another country with weak network.

You guys have no direct download link at all?

    Thank you guys

Just use the IP address of the host and click on the download link.  The link is redirected to vmware does not host site, so you won't be pulling down of your offsite location.

  • Failed to connect to client host vsphere and Vcenter also esxi.

I am trying to connect to the ESXi 5 of vsphere client host. I get the error message:

vSphere client cannot connect to < ip > an unknown connection error has occurred. (The request has failed because the remote server has taken too long to respond. (L'opération a expirer)).

and of VCENTR I am trying to add this host. I get the error. Of"request timed out".

I can connect to the shell of ESXi and restart the vpxa services and spend. I can ping to esi IP host. but just cannot connect to it.

earlier, he the host showed as disconnected in Vcenter. I tried to plug it failed. so I took it off I think can re add back. It did not work.

I can just connect to client as esx host.

    Hello

I am able to connect now.

I noticed as I said previously, unable to connect to the localhost error when running esxcli. Unable to connect using the vsphere client. Unable to connect using VCenter.

So I started to dig that's wrong with the OS esxi. and began running a few commands information esxcfg etc file system use of space, inode inconsistency, a few other commands such vdh, df to check the file system.  . and but has not changed anything. network configuration is correct.

in these I run services.sh reboot, restart vpxa, pass reboot, restart host, check the logs, vmkernel, vpxa newspapers spend., check the date and time of the host.  I couldnot Firewall check since esxcli did not work. I haven't checked listed above step on the SSO.

If you type esx and double tab, you will see many orders. I started testing on these orders.  so esxcli was a single command I tried later. It worked all of a sudden.

Once esxcli has started working, I checked vsphere client to connect to esx host that it worked. then I was able to connect in Vcenter also.

    Thank you for your support

  • Where can I download vSphere Client?

The vmware site must be one of the sites more frusterating, that I've never been. Everything is hidden and barried without information below value... you can I'm frusterated? I searched for vsphere client, and the ONLY thing that appears is the documentation. Even if I filter by products. Can someone post a link? I need for server 2008r2 64 bit.

"Support and download" select VMware vSphere or VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), depending on wheter you use paid or free edition. Then, follow the link to the product and download the vSphere Client after sign in with your credentials. You can also copy the link from the web site of ESXi (see post from Troy) and use it on a system with Internet access.

  • help with vsphere client

    Hi all

im a total newbie when it comes to vmware.

so, basically ive by learning to do visualization by myself because I poweredge 2 1950s during the sitting of the House doing nothing. so ive installed vmware esxi 5.5.0 on my server poweredge 1950 went to the IM address downloaded the vsphere client, put the username root and password waited then it comes up with "cannot complete, connect you because of incorrect username or password" where I can use the same username and password on the server to change the settings and get on no problem that continues?

    Thanks in advance callum

To me, this looks like a keyboard mapping problem, for example by using a witch of password for example special characters on a non - US keyboard.

Can you confirm that you have selected the correct keyboard layout during the installation of the host?

What you can try is to change the password to something simple (for example, no special characters, or ' z/y') to see if that helps you.

I am running Windows Vista x 64, which comes with .net 2.0 and 3 and I also have Visual Studio 2005 installed on the computer, so I don't know why he tries to install this in the first place, and still less why it's a failure.

I got it, all you have to do is to uninstall the existing Microsoft Visual J# via the control panel.

Once uninstalled rerun vSphere install and it ends without error.

  • vSphere client using the name Netbios on ESXi host does not connect using the credentials of a Windows session

I have 3 ESXi 5.5 hosts, all connected to a single server vCenter, where we try to authenticate directly to the host by using the windows logon credentials. I have installation of the Administrators group of ESX and filled with the admin accounts that I want to be able to authenticate to the host. The Netbios name of the domain is tstdomain (for example) where the domain name is tstdomain.com. If I connect directly to a host and check the checkbox 'Use Windows Session Credentials', the vSphere client will default by using the Netbios name of tstdomain\adminusername and the connection will fail indicating that the username and/or password is incorrect. If I enter the domain name of tstdomain.com\adminusername, I am able to connect to the host without error.

Does anyone know how get past that this matter have the vSphere client uses the domain name or to use the Netbios name and connect with the credentials to active directory? I looked by editing the file/etc/hosts and checked that the SPN of the host is correct in active directory with the command hostname setspn - l, with no luck on one. I also tried to change the field of research for the Netbios name of tstdomain rather than the tstdomain.com domain name, also did not work.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions on how to correct the problem.

Seems that this issue was due to a slow network and the connection timeout when you try to talk to the domain controller. I am able to connect with windows creds now, but the connection is very slow. I increased the default period of 30 to 60 seconds to help work around the problem.

  • Very slow access to data on HP MIcroserver Gen8 warehouses. Can not change the system of booking resources with vSphere client.

I did a clean install of ESXi 6 with HP supplied image (ESXi-6.0.0-2494585-HP-600.9.1.39-Mar2015).
Access to and from the warehouses of data over network via vSphere Client (6.0.0 - 2502222) is very slow - ~ 10 Mbps (there are several hundred under ESXi 5.5)
I suspect that ESXi 6 limited CPU resources used by the host to 230 MHz system.
I can't change the settings 'System Resource Reservation"(unlike ESXi 5.5, where I can change and switch to Simple or advanced mode).

    Hey ArnisR,

I finally found the problem. In the last 5.5 ESXi and version 6.0, they replaced the driver hpvsa (HP ISO vSphere!). With these drivers, I have known major problems with banks of data and, therefore, the controller B120i (RAID) of the Gen8 MicroServer HP.

    The problem is caused by the last (HP) ISO (from March);

    -Mar2015.iso 5.5.0 - Update2-2403361-HP - 550.9.2.27 VMware ESXi

    -Mar2015.iso 6.0.0 - 2494585-HP - 600.9.1.39 VMware ESXi

I found out (because I had an older ISO), the ISO VMware ESXi 5.5.0-Update2-2068190-HP-5.77.3-Nov2014.iso works well! With this ISO standard, all performance issues disappeared.

The difference between the ISO is as follows. The former ISO contains the driver of storage scsi-hpvsa 5.5.0 - 88OEM. ISO (s) of March come with new storage driver scsi-hpvsa 5.5.0 - 92OEM or scsi hpvsa - 5.5.0 - 90. These drivers are the cause of the problems in the controller of B120i!

Installing ESXi 5.5 or 6 since last ISOs, you must manually install the old driver of storage (SCSI hpvsa - 5.5.0 - 88). I tested with the HPSA file scsi vib - 5.5.0 - 88OEM.550.0.0.1331820.x86_64.vib. Then I adjusted the ISO HP and equipped with the old driver. Now I can install ESXi 5.5 or 6 ISO (custom) of HP, which includes the former driver.

    I hope this helps!

  • Cannot download vSphere Client after patch installed

I installed the latest patches for my two ESXi v4.1 servers using the vSphere Host Update Utility. the servers are now build 1363503.  In a web browser, when I go to the home page of each server to download vSphere Client, I get the following error: error HTTP 404 not found.  The link points to:

    http://vsphereclient.VMware.com/vsphereclient/1/2/9/8/9/7/7/VMware-viclient-All-4.1.0-1298977.exe

What should I do to be able to download the latest vSphere Client for ESXi v4.1?

It should be fixed soon. I think not many people noticed cela and use the former clients to connect to ESX.

  • vSphere Client 5 U1 unable to connect to the host of U1 ESXi 4.1

    Hello

    I'm having a small problem.

I am currently using vSphere Client 5 U1 (5.0.0 Build 623373) to connect directly to ESXi hosts (still no vCenter).

I can connect successfully to 5.0 U1 hosts, but I have a few hosts U1 4.1 inherited in the lab which I just can't connect with.

A little research in the compatibility tables show that with the most recent client, I should be able to connect do former ESXi hosts.

However, when I try to connect to this host U1 4.1, I get a popup to update with the message "customer support required files must be extracted from the 'vsphereclient.vmware.com' server and installed". And then I get a prompt to install/save a Setup program.

What is this new installer? Another version of the Client? Have I not the newest one? Anyway, I can't complete the download for this new installer (connection failure).

The host of ESXi 4.1 is on the network and I can connect with an older Client (4.1) that is installed in a different workstation.

    What happens here?

    Thanks in advance!

You must install as vSphere client major versions (3, 4, 5) but VMware tries to make this process as transparent as possible. That's why it asks to install it automatically.

Once installed, just launch v5 and it automatically and transparently pass the correct version if you connect to a 4.x server.
