  I guess the month and year are of different size?

  If so, I just put in place a recovery that year and period on lines and members of type directly in the sheet, with two columns. That is to say:

  2010   Q1
  

  Technically, you don't have to repeat the years - they could just be in Nov and Jan lines. You can get to the same place in drilling then selectively delete rows.

  A few years back when Hyperion introduced the Smart View add-in, I remember that the sales and marketing guys said that the add-in Essbase would be finally eliminated gradually and that Smart View it would replace as the best way to access the applications of Essbase\Planning\HFM.
  
  I can even see some of the presentations on this topic but a few years later, on the add-in Essbase is still there and there still a lot of people still using the Essbase snap.

  SmartView is the strategic direction for Oracle. I saw that in a number of presentations. In fact, it has all new development on the typical add-in in a while. New functionality is added to smartview and extends beyond the range of products with OBIEE Hyperiion now as a source of smartview.

  The only issue I know with users making a lock and send from the typical add-in is a direct shipment does not impose the same restrictions, as do the planning forms. By that I mean send to correct overlaps, some security enhanced, etc., but functionaly it does not cause a problem and I mean my that it works and sends the data you request.

  No, Essbase 6.5 and Excel 2007 are not compatible. Excel 2003 is the flavor of choice.
