    Hi Snoopy65,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Perform a system restore and then try to install each updates manually one by one. Each time that you install the update, restart the computer. Take note of the update that is causing the problem and let us know. We will be in a better place to help you if we know the exact update which is causing the problem.

    To run the system restore

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next

    4. click on finish

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

  • "Problem reports" and Solutions do not work

Running Vista Home Premium.  Under "reports on the problems and Solutions:

    1. "check the new solutions" is gray
    2. 'see problems to check' is gray
    3. "view problem history" is gray
    4. "change" works.  The parameter is set to "look for solutions automatically (recommended)".
    5. "history of solution and problem of Cloar" is grayed out
It is said there is no solution found - but he says also last checked on September 27, 2008 (it's now July 2009).
I am the administrator and just to be sure I tried to "run as Administrator".  Nothing different.

Check that the error reporting Service is running. Type services.msc in the search box on the Start Menu, open the Services Console, scroll the Windows error report and double-click it. If the service is stopped, start it and change the Startup Type to automatic. Jim - MVP Windows Live - moderator of the Forum - live a care - Live Mesh - Microsoft Security Essentials

  • "Problem reports and Solutions" does not

After scoring in my Windows Vista machine, I am bombarded with notifications "Problem reports and solution" does not. I tried to disable the service, but I still get notifications. I can't find PRS in the control panel. In the event viewer, I found the following:

I can't confirm or deny that usrename of the local administrator account has been changed. It is quite possible. I know that usernames on the pc have been changed to instead of creating new user accounts. I just can't confirm if one of these accounts was a local administrator.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is a major pain in the back.

  • Do I really need to download Windows Vista SP1, if I already have SP2? Problem reports and Solutions says to download.

I ran, "Find new solutions", in the problem reports and Solutions and a new solution was found for Blue error screen and he recommended that I have download Windows Vista SP1. I have SP2, so I need to download the old version too?

    Hi JJ,

I took the lead and it moved to the Performance and maintenance Forum. In response to the original question don't you're useless to download SP1 again since you have installed SP2. However, it would be preferable to follow with PA support to troubleshoot the Stop Code you receive.

  • Try to activate Vista's problem reports, but get the message "Windows incident reports are disabled." and some settings are managed by your system administrator

Original title: trying to activate the Vist problem reports, but get message "Windows problem reports are disabled."

"Windows problem report is disabled." I can't activate the problem reports and Solutions on my Windows Vista computer.  When I click on "Change settings", I would be prompted with the following message if poster "some settings are managed by your system administrator."  It's personal PC at home.  I don't know how to activate it.  I already went to political group & register to adjust some settings.  But still unable to activate this.

All settings are disabled as this.

    This problem only recently.

    Method 1

    System Restore does not work.

    Method 2

Disable the antivirus software does not work.

But after some research, I realized that the problem could be due to a recent installation of a PC anti-frustration software called Soluto (the star was "Activate Crash Handler Soluto").  It worked after that.  After uninstalling, I rebooted the PC system.  After the reboot, I checked the reports on the problems and Solutions and found I could now adjust advanced settings.  I have also reinstalled the software, Soluto and ensured that this time, "activate Crash Handler Soluto" not was not checked (i.e. enabled).

  • I just installed Firefox 6, and the report does more - the same problem you had with Firefox 5. What is going on?

You prompted me to install Firefox 6 tonight, because it addresses serious security/stability problems, but when I did this, the report icon has disappeared from the address bar. Reinstall the latest version of the report was corrected not it.
It's the same thing with Firefox 5 a few months ago, and it has taken report per week to develop a new compatible version.
Why this happened again? You not check this before launching new versions? Or, why at all not least we warn in advance that some programs will not work for X days? I prefer to be without the latest Firefox for a week or two, and no report - not least because that my Bank, I have to use the report.

Please advise as soon as POSSIBLE.
