"Problem reports" and Solutions do not work

Running Vista Home Premium.  Under "reports on the problems and Solutions:

1. "check the new solutions" is gray
2. 'see problems to check' is gray
3. "view problem history" is gray
4. "change" works.  The parameter is set to "look for solutions automatically (recommended)".
5. "history of solution and problem of Cloar" is grayed out
It is said there is no solution found - but he says also last checked on September 27, 2008 (it's now July 2009).
I am the administrator and just to be sure I tried to "run as Administrator".  Nothing different.

Check that the error reporting Service is running. Type services.msc in the search box on the Start Menu, open the Services Console, scroll the Windows error report and double-click it. If the service is stopped, start it and change the Startup Type to automatic. Jim - MVP Windows Live - moderator of the Forum - live a care - Live Mesh - Microsoft Security Essentials

I ran, "Find new solutions", in the problem reports and Solutions and a new solution was found for Blue error screen and he recommended that I have download Windows Vista SP1. I have SP2, so I need to download the old version too?

    Hi JJ,

  • I connected to my computer and towards the high jumps "Problem reports and solution" page with a problem. It says "unable to diagnose? fix network problems"has not reported.

The problem is in "Network Diagnostics Framework V2" Microsoft provider, and the OwnerHC is WinInetHelperClass. Files that describe it are: Eventlog.etl, which I did not open as my security system said it could be a virus and opening may harm my computer. There are a lot other categories and numbers on the report too, but I didn't know if I should include those. Help? Also, I can't install Adobe Flash Player, but I tried all night last night, without success. I can post a copy of the report, but I'm afraid I might give too much information that could come back and bite me in the yoohoo. Safety information that hackers live. Thank you.

    Hi amal.

I couldn't figure out how to go in safe mode. Then I went to the event viewer and crossed logs and couldn't find the one I got. As sson as I can I'll add it to this topic.

When I install Falsh Player, it goes through the installation process, then disappears when I try to pull up. Not in the files on the desktop, nowhere to be found. Then I download the uninstall wizard, even though I have no idea if it was installed, then uninstall it. After the uninstall is complete, it says "Uninstall successful" or something to that effect. That if, I try to re install the same. He has done several times and abandoned.

So, it's the situation. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I appreciated your quick response however. I always have problems, but I used the Microsoft Mr. Fix, and I did not have error messages since then.

    Thank you

    Mary

  • Update problems - touchpad and keyboard do not work!

After you install an update, the touch pad and the keyboard on my laptop won't work.  I was able to use a wireless mouse, after a few failed attempts.  Any suggestions?

    Hi jennkjohns,

    1. what happens when you connect the keyboard to the computer?

    2. what update has been installed on the computer?

    Method 1

First of all, I would say you visit your laptop manufacturer's website to download and install the updated driver for the touchpad and check if it works.

Check in the Device Manager, the State of the keyboard.

Get help with Device Manager errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/get-help-with-Device-Manager-errors

    Method 2

Checking update was installed before that the problem occurred.

    (a) updates installed open by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click programs

    (b) and then, under programs and features, click view installed updates.

Once you know the update's KB number then visit the Microsoft Download and put the number in the search box, download and install the update manually after placing the computer in a clean boot state.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • Problem network and restore do not work.

I have a computer that I used throughout the past two years.  I have programs on it to keep and I also have pictures and emails, I don't want to lose.  I don't know it's a software problem, I know because I bought another hard drive identical to the one I had installed inside and reloaded windows Xp and drivers everything works fine. I noticed that the last night, I used this PC when I went to turn off windows indicates there is a notification of update, I went ahead and let him do his thing the next day is when the problem manifested itself to the power upward.  I tried to immediately restore no good just stop. The next thing I noticed is that there no Favorites showing network, my ethernet went, my card controller spent, wireless no internet connectivity at all.  My question is - what the machine starts fine and a files seem normal y at - it an easy solution for this without completely formatting and reloading windows so I won't lose my programs I do not have access to the original disks to recharge?

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

    Hi NickMeyer,

    1. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

You can check if there is information in Event Viewer which may help us to solve the problem:

What are the information contained in the logs of the event (Event Viewer)?

You can also temporarily disable the security software and firewall installed on the system and check if the problem persists.

Note: Be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking.

    Hope this information is useful.
