Some Invisible icons

I'm having a problem with specific icons not being is not visible. All my desktop icons are visible, but in my taskbar, the Windows player and Windows Store icons are not. You can always access the program but by clicking on where the icon should be. Other icons, like Firefox, Webroot and the folder of files are visible. When I go into the folder of files, all files Windows drive just show the image of a blank sheet of paper icon. You can still open the files. I also have mp3 files that tend to have a specific icon, but now it's default, blue musical note. While the issue does not preclude my ability to use the computer, I'm afraid that this is the beginning of a larger problem. Someone at - it experience with this problem or knows how to fix?

For problems that result from an update, it is often useful to do a system restore to a time before the update was installed. Windows key + X-> system of-> system-> system restore...

Once the restore is complete, try again the update. Many update problems are a problems of time of an update process failed or interrupted, then chances are good he's better on the second try.

If the question comes up again after the update: do another restore, block the update and communicate with the provider of the software.

Sounds like a corruption of the Windows icon cache.

You can try to reset (delete) the file iconcache.db.

    See http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/how-to-rebuild-the-icon-cache-in-windows-vista/

You can try to reset the Windows icon cache.

    • Open the task (Ctrl + Shift + ESC) Manager
    • In the processes tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select end process.
    • Open the file picker via ' file > new task (run) "and click on the Browse button.
    • Type or paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local in the file name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
    • Select the file IconCache.db and use Delete on the shortcut menu to delete the file.
    • After that the IconCache.db has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process through "file > new task" for the job and work the taskbar to return.

It is possible that the IconCache.db file is a hidden file, and in this case you must enable the display of hidden files. You can verify that you can see the file before doing above mentioned as follows.

  • Some user icons have disappeared from the Office

I use a Sony Vaio laptop running Vista business with Service Pack 2.

Earlier today, most of the icons on my desktop disappeared. Who else is shortcuts in the folder C:\USERS\PUBLIC\DESKTOP.  Those who have disappeared are those of C:\USERS\MYNAME\DESKTOP.  When I look in this file by using Solution Explorer, all the files are still present. It's just you display the icon on the desktop that is missing.

I am connected to my usual account that has administrator privileges.  Office properties are set to "Show desktop icons" and "snap to grid".

Earlier today, I installed an update of AVG Internet Security and performed a full scan, but can't say for sure if the disappearance of the icons has coincided with this.

It seems that the system is linking the visible office with the files in the Public folder, but not those in my personal file.

I tried to restore the system to the earlier dates, but this did not restore desktop layout.

Can anyone tell how to recover? Help will be very appreciated.

    Hi Jessen

    Thanks for your reply.

In fact, it became obvious that the registry has been damaged.  I restored the registry to a previous state by using a backup, and that solved the problem.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

  • Why do they disappear some desktop icons in windows 7 pro

They go to the Recycle Bin?

  • Invisible PDF icons

The icons associated with my PDF files are regularly disappear entirely, leaving just the visible file name (see second screenshot below). I use Windows 10.

The problem seems to arise each time I have save a new file in a folder. From the first folder below, which presents the icons very well, I generated the second folder with invisible icons simply by saving a new file in the folder. When the Save dialog box appears, it automatically generates thumbnails for existing files. This is what seems to cause the icons disappear when I then find the folder in Windows Explorer.

First of all, make sure you have the latest update for DC. If this does not work, try to clear your cache of thumbnail: Thumbnail Cache - clear and reset - Windows 7 Help Forums and see if that helps.

  • Missing icons for PC from A1020N a webpage (P4 3.0 Ghz System)

I am writing to inform that I found a solution to the problem PC I mentioned earlier (see below).  And thanks to angry.  I followed his suggestions to try I explore reset settings by default, and then saw my Yahoo email, and he's looking for a lot better now. I also tried a few other sites, where I think I had seen the problem occur before. These look now much better.  What's left to do is, of course, do a reconfiguration of the I have the settings of Explorer.  I'll get to that in the coming days.  Thank you still angry.

    Williamg3

Since I bought this PC there is an all-in-one printer (Officejet 5610) and some years some time later, I was pleased with their use; they have been working well. However, more recently and while browsing Web sites, I often notice that some Web page icons are missing (IE 8.0, Win XP SP3).  For example, an icon to use on a Web page for the application by clicking 'continue' or 'send' is not visible.  If slowly, I scan the pointer of the mouse on the page, I can sometimes detect an icon that appears for the pointer turns into a hand.  But obviously I don't know the nature of this particular icon (even though I guessed right a few times)!

As I was using my PC this way for many months, I discovered that the issue becomes more problematic.  This is particularly true, for example, because I started to use a newer version of my mail service (Yahoo).  In this case, a number of icons appear, including the checkmarks for messages that have been selected, or beating Pavilion.  In addition, after I started to use the new version of e-mail, a Yahoo message appeared, informing me that something is wrong with the display.  The message advised to double check that I was using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, because the mail system would show not well otherwise.  I double checked the display properties, and I actually use this level of resolution.  That is what is wrong / does not work properly!

However, and as I mentioned above, the problem of invisible icons is not limited to Yahoo email only.

In order to document things, I would like to explain that a few years ago, I changed appearance of things on the screen, use the options in the 'PC's display properties.  For example, instead of using the "Win XP" (default), I am using "Classic Windows" (modified) and made changes in the 'appearance' by clicking on the "Advanced" button in this window.  For example, in this window, I increased the size of "Active title bar", and "Icons", then they would be more readable.

I wonder now also there is something wrong with the PC graphic card, or if a driver for that it would be useful?  It's an Intel 82915 G/GV/910GL Express chipset Family.

Thank you for taking the time to focus on this problem and possibly find a solution for it!

    Sincerely,

    Williamg3

    Hi willamg3,

From what you describe, I don't think it's a problem with the hardware at all, he looks more like a problem with Internet Explorer not to make pages correctly.  We have a long documenton Internet Explorer troubleshooting, I would say from reset Internet Explorer settings.

    Hello Brent Spore.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. I know how it is important to keep your Mac running properly, and I want to help him.  Whenever we see the behavior as what you described, it is a good idea to test the symptoms in a separate user in safe mode. This will help us determine if the remanence of the icon is linked to a problem with the user account or if it's a question broad system. The articles below will guide you through these steps.

How to test a question in another account on your Mac.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If the ghost still occurs in safe mode, then we know it is a question broad system and I would recommend backup your Mac and Mac OS re-install using recovery, as described in the articles below:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac

    How do I reinstall macOS

If the behaviour continues or if you encounter difficulties, the entire community is here to help.

  • My own Google Map icons are not visible in Firefox 8

I have lots of Google Maps on my site, and they contain icons by default Google and my own icons, each with its own URL. They work fine in all other browsers and Firefox 7. However, yesterday, I loaded Firefox 8. 8 Firefox Google the default icons are still visible, but my own icons are now invisible, but their placeholders are still there. They are still visible in other browsers. In addition, if, now, I try and add one of my icons on a map, the process seems to work fine, including a landmark name appears, but the icon is invisible. The invisible icon is certainly there because you can click on the marker and be caught in the right position on the map for editing, but the icon is not visible.

    Thank you.

    Hello world

as the title says, I have a very weird problem. As you can see from the attached images, my folder and drive icons have changed since the default icons in Windows XP 3d to 2d icons old rustic. However, some of the files are very well, while most are not.

I tried to change the default one below, but nothing folder icon display does not. Some other icons in there are very good, while some also produce the 2d problem.

I tried searching the Internet for this but it is futile.

Thank you all for helping me!

    Hello

I saw that he pointed out that you could solve the problem simply by starting in safe mode, opening session to the affected user, wait a few minutes and then restart in normal mode. I have not tested it myself but it seems easier to try than the following suggestions, then you might want to try first. To start in safe mode, press F8 twice a second immediately after the ignition until you get a menu b & w, select Safe Mode from this menu with up/hit and seized arrow keys. Don't worry strange messages or the appearance of the screen when he finally gets to the opening scene of session.

If the above fails, take a look at this thread...

  • 110 - 000z: desktop icon

I just want to know why some icon work and not an icon. I can reinstall them, and it still doesn't work. I can click on the icon, the little blue ring lights and stop. What's wrong.

    Hello @lellery,

I read your post on the operation of some desktop icons and others do not have on your desktop computer, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

You are able to access all the icons on the desktop by creating a new user account? The problem if you start your computer in Safe Mode? What icons of programs are not able to load when you click on them? Are you referring to the App Store from the icons on the home screen or shortcuts on the desktop?

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the information requested above. I look forward to your reply!
