Sorting photos in Windows 7 photo gallery

How can I sort the photos by date downloaded instead of date taken?

  • Error unknown 0x88982F50 when you try to change the properties of a JPEG file in the Windows Photo Gallery

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack1 and use Windows Photo Gallery to managemy photos. I like the fact that I can integrate tags and ratings in JPEG files.

I just noticed though, that the tag is no longer to be stored in the JPEG file. I know because when I saw the properties of the file tag information I have in the Windows Photo Gallery is not present. If I try to change the properties directly, I get an error message stating:

An unexpected error prevented the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem: 0x88982F50 error: No. Error Description available.

    I checked the file isn't read-only etc.

I searched Microsoft.com for this error and have found no help. I searched the internet and have seen many forums to raise this issue, but I can't find a solution.

Note that when I try to fix an image in Windows (eye of harvest/red etc.) Photo Gallery, I also get an error that says I can't save the changes.

For me, it looks like a component is faulty or missing, but how is it resolved?

Last week I played ignorance a little with my services, disabling some supposedly speeding up my computer and also played with my Start menu. I don't know that I've changed, however. Can any particular service being disabled cause this problem? Thank you and have a nice day.

I lost all the images contained in the "my pictures" file on the hard drive.  The files are there but when I open the files they are all empty. It's like some 50 folders and each folder contained about 25 or so images jpg. I lost the using the "windows live photo gallery» I found a thread that someone else has had this problem and only one answer was to check the checkbox 'Show hidden files'. I have done this no luck there. When I open "windows live photo gallery" all records are on the left of the window but empty. I did not send any of these files to the "trash".  Can someone tell me how to recover these?

You ran the scanner of MS too? It will take some time, but it must be done. If a virus is responsible for it must be nuked before he can ravage any more.

Send all the pictures? You can still recover these - and get some help course in order to avoid this sort of thing. External hard drives and online storage are worth a small spending to protect valuable files. I also keep the dvd - outdated image files but enough fix if even they can deteriorate over time (but don't we all!)

Let us know if the scan MS lands anything - run the full scan - it will take time.

  • Reorganization of images using Windows Photo Gallery

Hello, I have Windows 7 on my laptop. I recently downloaded the latest version of the Windows Photo Gallery on my machine and he used to edit and organize my photos. I now have lots of photos selected in a file. Then I tried to re - order the photos by dragging individual photos in another post, which would put them out of chronological order. The program wouldn't let me do that, even if I tried the slide show mode. I tried a tab in various screens, but could not come through all that would allow me to do. How is it possible without painstakingly rename each picture?

    Thank you
    Len
Damn, some more complications. We were on a Holland America Cruise ship recently and I attended seminars put on by the techie edge and we had to use a bunch of machines with Windows 8 on them. There, it was so easy to rearrange photos, put captions, categories etc on them as well as a lot of other interesting things such as Pan photos, photo editing, etc. For me, it's a lot of things Photoshop does than maybe not to the same extent.

Now you have concerned me! I quickly skimmed the link you mentioned, and it seems that the deactivation of the reorganization could cause some problems so I'm hesitant to try it. Especially when you say, "Proceed at your own risk" and "good luck".

    Questions arise:

    (1) if I go back to the reorganization, all my photos in the photo gallery Windows will return to the agreement prior to the photos or not. It's a real problem if I spend hours reorganization of my photos.
    (2) if I turn off the reorganization, it will also affect the pictures in my Gallery of picture-taking.
It may be preferable for me to upgrade to Windows 8, even if I don't have touch capability. Checking online, I see that it will cost about $120 to upgrade to Windows 7. I'm the Canada so there may be a completely different price.
What is your opinion... it's worth it to upgrade? I know that the free sort option is available. Understand there are other improvements too, such a best Windows Live Mail email program. I had thought of before upgrading, but I also remember reading that it will soon be upgrading to Windows 8 (due to some defects or gaps) so if I download the current Windows 8, I could pay for a program that is close to being obsolete.

    Thank you for your time.

How can I remove these copies without doing it one at a time

    Hello catnfuzz,

You will not be able to find duplicate files and delete everything automatically, the best way to get rid of duplicates in Windows Live Photo gallery would be to sort the files by name, compare and delete the files.

There are also several third-party programs that you help find the duplicate on the computer files, and delete them. I suggest that you use your favorite search engine and look for the file duplicate, find programs.

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • change the sort order in the photo gallery

I'm changing the sort that photo gallery displays my photos.  Right now, it appears it's their date/time display.  I want that they appear in the order of file name.  I changed the file names in the image library and selected "sort by", "name", "Crescent" and is sorts them properly in image library list, but when I opened the Gallery of pictures, it is always showing them by date/time order.  They show in a different order in the Gallery how they appear in the list of image library.  Can you help me?

Unfortunately, this is just one of the many shortcomings of the Photos app we
