  Try the following.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When you're done, shut down the laptop and perform a "Hard Reset" for your model, as described in the document of HP here.

  One when you're done, press next to the key ESC that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

  Not as far as I know. I, for the same reason, about 40% the value of the Volume of Skype and I see no effect on the volume of calls. Only the ringtone and notification sounds are affected.

  If after checking the sound settings package (Panel, controller next to the laptop, etc.) the sound doesn't come out so I guess that the sound card on the Board is dead.

  My Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM running 64-bit Windows 7 has no sound coming from the built-in speakers.  The headphone jack works with headphones, but the built-in speakers have no sound.  I just downloaded the driver update and still no sound.  When I check the speakers in the Manager, it indicates that the device is functioning properly.  Short of redo the original back recovery point system does anyone have any suggestions of how I can check to see if the problem is in the speakers or with the card or what?  I looked on the boards here, but nothing seemed to fit my problem exactly if I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks in advance.

  I understand that you have the sound through your headphones, but not the internal speakers.  When you checked the Device Manager it says it works.

  It seems that "Toshiba PC Health Monitor" is the reason for this strange noise rattling.

  Disable the "Toshiba PC Health Monitor" in the msconfig Startup tab.
  Uncheck the mark that appears near the PC health monitor and reboot the laptop.

  Type in "change the settings of the sound card" in the search bar and open it. Double-click on your speakers to open the speaker Properties window. In this, go to the tab called Dolby and click the power button in the upper left corner to switch it off.

  I see where several issue after you upgrade to windows 8 for 7 or vista, you have no sound from speakers.

  In case someone runs into this problem going forward, please make sure that:

  1. your laptop is supported for Windows 8.

  AND

  2. There are Audio drivers available for the laptop.

  DV7-6c90us w/Beats audio Entertainment PC. IDT High Definition Audio Codec. The drivers are "up to date". Device Manager indicates that this sound card does not work correctly.   Download & save the last Audio driver. Go into the Control Panel, programs & features - software uninstall IDT. Reboot the laptop. After loading Windows, install IDT audio by using the downloaded file.

  I recently had problems with my Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 (vista 32-bit windows operating system). I couldn't get a USB microphone to work and I decided to update the sound card driver. I downloaded and updated what I thought, it was the right driver (sigmatel high definition audio codec) and since there is no sound from speakers. I followed the guide from Dell troubleshooting and disconnect any external devices and then click right click the mixer volume in the system tray, and then clicked on "open volume Mixer" and I get the message: no audio device installed. I went to the control panel to check the sound card driver and he told me that the codec sigmatel high definition audio works well and he has not updated. I unfortunately can't restore the system that system restore installation in my computer stopped working awhile (even when I start windows in safe mode) so I'm stuck. I think that I have installed the wrong driver for the sound card but don't find it not easy to understand which driver to search the dell support center.   Desktop computer have generally not pregnant unless they are external.  So unless there are speakers in the box, then you have taken proper care.  I got another one with the same question, and unless the monitor has speakers, then external speakers are needed.

  On the other issue, it seems that the installation of Windows 7 cannot void the warranty, as HP does not support the operating system other than him.
