No, to install sp3, you have sp1 OR sp2.

Yes, the news of the "System requirements" on the download page of the sp3 are vague and misleading: "Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2."

Commas means 'or' - except the comma between the two editions and two service packs, which means 'and '.  The requirements must be written (XP Home or XP Pro) AND (XP sp1) or XP sp2.

  • Is there a way I can get even SP2 and SP3 for windows xp home edition to my pc that had been in storage since 2007?

I tried to go to windows update but redirected to micrsoft support page, which offers no SP2 and SP3 for windows XP Pro, and yet I don't have a network of computers running windows XP Pro download the SPs would be a disater as it is intended for more than one PC.

It does not give the notice to go to the windows update page, but I can't get there because I do not have windows XP SP 3 installed on my pc, and even if I have it on a disc I couldn't install it anyway because SP 2 is not installed on this pc.

So this pc seems to be thrown into a sort of limbo XP, does anyone know a way I can get these much needed without breaking service packs?

  • Can I get an installation Win XP Pro Update CD includes SP3? The one I have now is pre - SP2 and reinstalling the operating system takes 4-EVER!

My existing Windows XP Pro installation CD is almost a decade, and it precedes SP2. It's a nightmare, whenever I have to reinstall the operating system as ut takes a day or two to download Microsoft updates. Is it possible to replace my installation CD with a newer version, including a number of post-SP3 updates and SP3?

You do this using a technique called "slipstreaming".  You start with a genuine XP installation CD and add in the necessary service packs and updates.

If your CD-ROM is sp1 or 1A, you can just slipstream sp3.  If you have XP 'or' (pre - sp1), it is more complicated.

There are many websites that explain how to do this.  Google for "slipstream sp3 of xp" or something similar.

This site claims to have a script that will create a slipstreamed XP sp3 and all post-sp3 CD critical updates (description wrongly "sp2").  I the have not used and do not have any information on how easy it is or if she actually does what it says.

    Hi all

When you try to use a GPO to map a drive (on xp sp2 and 3 customers) based up to membership in a group, it is not completely finished

Have created a GPO called MapDrive

-Under User Config. > Preferences > Windows settings > card reader

-Set Action = replace and it to map to \\Servername\share\%username% if the user is a member of the XYZ Group (common tab > Item-Level targeting)

What is happening, it's that the good player cards\\Servername\share\ of under file which is the user name.

To get the GPO to work that day

-Did you have to install the patch installed XP from KB943729for side extensions (CSE) Client

-J' also put a policy of waiting for connection before login (this fixes a problem of no similar mapping with the home folder that you can set the path in the user account object)

Any ideas why the drive mapping complete otherwise would not work or have a work around?

    See you soon,.

    Schmills

    ThanksThahaseena M.

In fact, I found that it was not a problem with what I did, in fact, it worked.

What I found is when you map a drive via gpo to a subfolder, for example\\servername\share\subfolder

What is displayed is\\servername\share , but it actually be mapped directly to the subfolder. In the GPO, you can create a label for the drive, so in my case I created a StorageFor_ %username% label, which then displays the user who received the file, which is what I wanted.

My original mail can still help those who have problems with

    1 folder without mapping entirely

    2. the CST for HP patch is required for the mapping of the readers via GPO.

  • Cannot repair Windows XP Pro with MS. original disc This is SP2 and SP3 system level.

I moved my a new motherboard boot drive and need to clean up the mistakes.  I was not able to repair or install a new system of my

I'm moving to XP Pro, but my XP Home is XP3 and the Pro upgrade is SP1.  I tried "Add / Remove Programs" to do this, but it doesn't give me any options.

Check out the information on the website of NLite. With the help of NLite makes very easy "slipstreaming". AFAIK, you can integrate a copy upgrade. In all cases, the integrated installation process doesn't your underlying operating system so no worries there.

Just a note for future recovery - you need to pick up any installation media, license keys, etc. for your extremely expensive software. At some point, your hard drive will die and/or Windows must be reinstalled and you will need to install these programs. Be prepared. Just say ". ;-)" MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I was running the restoration of the system of the laptop and the battery dies before completing the restoration of the system. After loading it that the laptop does not start it makes a loop on the system recovery options.

If you lost power during an operation system then your drive is probably corrupted and you need to clean installation using your CD-ROM Windows 7 CD or a recovery disc factory that came with your computer.  If you do not, you can contact the company who made the computer to ask for a replacement.

Already tried to add our accounts to the following groups in SSO under the vsphere.local domain:

This information on the purpose of each group unfortunately did not help me understand which could apply:

Thank you very much for the help!

I just did some digging on this myself (we deployed now U2 6.0) after I tried the same things (adding AD users in the SSO domain groups, etc. etc.) without success.

What I have found is that it is simply a WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM with 6.0 U2 and maybe they'll fix with U3 6.0 when that comes out (later this summer)?  Maybe it'll be 6.5 at that time, with an announcement to the VMworld 2016 or something - who knows.

The workaround is a joke--suggesting the deployment using only the SSO domain by default.  Well, which is never going to happen naturally, so he says as a workaround is, if you really need to get and display status, etc. from the web client, you simply connect with your [email protected] account that was created at the initial time of installation.

In addition, the site says that automatic updates SP2 but I checked my Configuration of the automatic updates and it will not take anything in. Is there a way to force the automatic update to run immediately? Thanks, Ben

    Ben,

I totally agree with PML, you should be able to set up IE and then go to the Windows updates from there, once you get on the Windows Update site it will scan your system and implement critical updates and optional updates SP2 and SP3 should be on the list. It's a way to force an immediate update.

    I hope this helps.
