SP2 Installation problems

I have difficulties to obtain Service Pack 2 for x 64 Vista install.

I tried to install SP2 previously but my computer has been damaged somewhere in the process and would not start windows. I used the Windows installation disk to repair Windows and so I was able to boot my computer, but SP2 cannot be installed accordingly. It has reached stage 3 of 3 before it failed.

I didn't realize that SP2 was not installed until I started having problems printing. I could not print anything because the print spooler kept to stop when I try to print. I could start it easily thanks to administrative tools > services, but when I try to print it stops. Now, I realize that this isn't the only app that fails. The Director of bureau will stop when I hit the switch between the windows key in the lower left corner of my screen.

When I try to install SP2 now it completes phase 1 of 3 only to say that "some of the evolution has failed. Restoration of the changes. Retries at startup. "Then the computer will restart and get to the same point to say"cannot install Service Pack. Returning from the changes. »

I tried this error already following the steps in these two links of troubleshooting:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/883825

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947366

I tried everything but the uninstall of my security applications. I currently have installed BitDefender Internet Security 2009.

I plugged in the first link above because when my computer restarts after the installation to fail a screen comes up saying that the service pack has failed to install. When I clicked the error code 0 x 80070020 details appeared.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Before you install Windows vista service pack 2, make sure you have 955430 installed KB. To download 955430 KB, visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b1746a64-2bb5-4058-b133-d8264a0122cb&displaylang=en

  • Flash Player installation problems - WinXP

    Hello

I currently have v21.0.0.242 of Flash Player installed in Firefox on my Windows XP SP2 PC, but if I can download v22, it will not start in order for me to install it.

I saw an article (#8) here: Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier versions, but, even if it leads to a place at Microsoft Support to get an update of the file supposed to be necessary for SHA - 256 certificates, this isn't just for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, Windows XP.

In addition, another thread in this Forum addresses the versions of Windows XP 64-bit, but mine is 32-bit.

Finally, I heard talk about some recent software installers being configured in a way to WinXP can not read to launch, but I hope that's not true here, or that there is a workaround solution for that.

Can you please help me with this?

    Thank you very much

    Bram Weiser

I can't speak as to why the update is not eligible for your Vista system.  It would be a matter of Microsoft.

I don't see Adobe take back a signing certificate less secure as we head to sha256, i.e. the last signature technologies safer. Microsoft also announced (just now) they are falling for the old version, sha1.  You will see this more, not with righteous installers, but with both sites (sites that use HTTPS instead of HTTP protocol).  If an HTTPS Web site uses a certificate that is always sha1 Microsoft will show the lock snapped during a visit to this page, instead of the secure lock.

You can try to opt in the background updates to see if it works.  To do this, go to control panel > all items in the control panel > Flash Player > updated tab > select "allow Adobe to install updates (recommended).

  • Installation problems Thrones and Patriots

Hey everybody. I have installation problems with elevation of the thrones of nations with the Patriots. I installed rise of nations but the installation successfully Thrones and Patriots he wins in a file called CTW_New_World_Map_01_info_text.xml.18 and then says check to see if I have available disk space, or if the file is in use. It's a brand new model with no other games on it.

    Hi Riseofjohn,

    1. have you checked the disk installation for scratches or damage?
    2. don't you try to install the game in the other computer?
    3. What is the operating system that is currently installed on your computer?

First of all I suggest to perform a disk cleanup and check whether the problem is resolved.

The disk cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk to improve your computer's performance. The tool identifies files that you can safely remove, and then allows you to choose if you want to remove some or all of the files identified.

To use disk cleanup in Windows 7 follow these steps below.

    a. Click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, click System Tools and then click on disk cleanup. If several readers are available, you may be asked to specify which drive you want to clean.
    b. when disk cleanup has calculated how much space you can free of charge, in the dialog cleaning disc, scroll through the content of the files to delete list.

    Disk Cleanup dialog box

    c. clear the check boxes for files that you do not want to delete, and then click OK.

For more options, such as cleaning of system restore and files copy of Shadow, under Description, click on clean up the system files, and then click the other Options tab.
    d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the files specified, click Yes.

After a few minutes, the process is completed, and close the Disk Cleanup dialog box, leaving your computer more efficient and clean better.

I also suggest you to run chkdsk.
    Follow these steps:

    a. click on start
    b. Type "cmd" in the start search box
    c. right-click on cmd.exe list programs and then select the run as Administrator option. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue
    d. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk/r X:
Note: in this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.
    a. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
    b. close all applications and restart the computer.

Note: upon reboot, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts

After the computer restarts, repeat steps 1 through 4 for the other volume and then check if the disk cleanup works.

If the steps provided above does not resolve the problem then I suggest to install the game using the cleanboot and check for the issue.
Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items
the origin of the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and re-
    install the program.
See KB Microsoft article below for more information on how to resolve a problem by doing a
clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: after a repair, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above KB
    article.
I suggest also allows you to check the compatibility of the game with the Windows 7 operating system.

  • XP Service pack 2 Installation problems

I recently had to reformat my computer and reinstall XP Pro on it. I have already validated my windows. Whenever I try to get service pack 2, however, it gets to the point on the installer where it says 'check product key' (which is almost right at the beginning) and everything goes ever further. No matter how long wait he just stay here on this message. Help, please!

SP2 installation hangs at step "product key Verification".

Posted by another user having received a response from the MS Support: -.

There are 3 steps that we have to do to get SP2 installed.

    The steps are:

    (1) please go to the CMD prompt (start / run--> cmd.exe)

    (2) then type cd /d %windir%\inf and make sure that we are in this directory.

    (3) then type ren oem*.inf oem*.old, he goes back to the command prompt after
giving you an error (don't you worry about this)

    (4) then type ren oem*.pnf oem*.old1, he goes back to the command prompt after
giving you an error (don't you worry about this)

    (5) then goto start - run - type '% windir%\inf' and you will see the files in
    the folder.

    (6) then find by name INFCACHE.1 file and make a backup of it on the desktop
(by copying it to the desktop) and delete the INFCACHE.1 in c:\windows\inf.

    (7) close all windows and restart the computer in safe mode and start the
installation of SP2 and it should be fine.

I would check to make sure that you don't know what your product key is before
attempt of what either especially if it is an OEM version.
