Space available USB keys

Hi, I have a few (FAT32) USB key that I use as backups. I delete the files to send it to the trash, but when I try to use the system says there is not enough space. There is no indication in the Finder, but when I looked on the stick in a PC it showed a directory trash with files deleted in it. Hence the lack of space.

How to bring back the full storage space?

I like to keep interchangeability FAT32 format.

Empty the trash before dislodge you.

I am trying to install a partition of Windows 7 with an ISO on a flash drive with Boot Camp Assistant. Everytime I try it however, I get the error "your bootable USB key could not be created there is not enough space available on the disk. The flash drive that I use for this is 64 GB, so I doubt that the issue has to do with not enough available space. I have already tried the obvious, like reformat the flash drive and retry the write. Hello world

I have just a quick question that was so irritating for centuries. I downloaded ESXi 4.1 & want to install on a USB key, so far, I have been unsuccessful using WinImage, so I thought I would try using the installer itself esxi to stick on the USB key.

When it displays the list of available drives, the USB displays, but there is 0.00 bytes available for installation, yet the Flash drive has been formatted on two FAT (32) and NTFS.

  • Option to "Remove" USB key by right clicking in the 'Computer' window it is no longer available.

Using Vista, there is an option to "Remove" a USB key in the drop-down list it with a right-click in the 'Computer' window that lists all of your drives. He was usually right under "Eject" if I remember correctly. Why is it is gone?

Please note that I am aware, you can also use the option 'Remove the device safely' in the task bar, but this application relates to the command drop-down list as the taskbar icon is a bit heavy and I preferred the speed and convenience to make it quickly through the window of the computer.

Which is probably causing this problem?

I see that you have changed your question of 'My Computer' to 'Computer', etc., after my reply to you.

If your original question was 'Computer', etc., my answer would be more than the only option.

  • USB key and high availability

I searched the forum for this but did not find the exact answer or maybe didn't have the right keywords to search for.  My basic question is: a virtual machine into a cluster HA auto will migrate if it has a USB thumb drive attached to it?

Detail: We have 2 guest of ESXI configured clustered HA with about 12 servers total.  One of the servers has a thumb drive attached that he daily back ups to.  I need to do an interview yesterday and was manually migrate the servers between hosts.  When I got to the machine with the USB key that I received a 'stop' message that basically said that I could not continue until I removed the USB.  No big deal when this migration manually, but it made me think about what will happen when / if there is a failure on one of the hosts and the migration is automatic being that it is a HA cluster.

Thanks in advance for the answer.

    DK

If a failure occurs that the machine will start on another host, even if you have a passthrough device attached to the virtual machine.

You can also enable vMotion support for the USB device, so you can migrate the virtual machine live.

    Procedure

    1

In the vSphere Client inventory, right-click the virtual machine and select change settings.

    2

Click the Hardware tab, and click Add.

    3

Select the USB device and click Next.

    4

(Optional) Select Support vMotion when the device is connected.

    5

If you do not want to migrate a virtual machine with the USB devices connected, deselect the option to Support vMotion.

Toshiba dynabook SS 1700MY displays "alert: System protection USB key set failure.

    So here's the story:
I accidentally tickled my friend that is using his laptop and he spilled his Coke into the laptop.
I told her to turn it off, and then he wiped his spill in the keyboard.

Then, when he tried to open it. He opened Fortunately, but it says:
    Alert: System protection failure.
    Set the USB key:

Me and my friend do not know what it is. Just reply to us if you know what is this 'USB key '.

We do not know what it is, so please tell us if you know what is the USB

Dynabook SS 1700MY is not known to me... I guess this isn't a European model for Toshiba laptop...

The error message looks like a BIOS password. It seems that the security of the system has been compromised.

Unknown BIOS password can be removed from the laptop user but can be removed by the Toshiba authorised service provider available in your area.
So you will need to return the unit to an ASP for a password reset.

  • Re: My Satellite L350 does not recognize USB key

I have a Toshiba Satellite L350-235. It suddenly stopped recognizing my usb key that I use every day. Normally, he would say "new hardware found" and allow me to click on the F drive, now I get nothing!

    Can someone advise me?

I guess that the USB ports are working properly if you connect another device; something like USB mouse. Right?

In my opinion, you should test the USB in USB ports.
You can also try to remove the USB controllers and hubs from the Device Manager list.
After restarting of new laptop, (ports) USB controllers must be recognized, and then you could connect and test the USB again.

In the event that the USB is not recognized by one of the available USB ports, try to connect to another USB key.

  • USB key which does not except if formatted - cannot open any files without formatting (essentially removing) the first

When you insert a USB key that I've used with my laptop, I wonder to format. However, I do not remember what are the files on the disk and therefore not hesitate to format it without checking what's out there first. I can't open the drive at all unless I format it, so is there a way to bypass the formatting or another way, I can see what are the files on the disk? I also tried to open the drive on other PC and the same thing happens. Help?

Hi the Turkey - hey it's your name!

If ya... Here's the thing... When you are prompted to format a drive and he can't read the files on the disk that are caused because the OS is unable to understand the content of the disc. This indicates that the disc is damaged and unreadable. It can also happen on a new disc that has not been shaped. So in summary, the files may be already missing...

When was the last time that this player was available? What format they were initially?

It is not really a way to get around this if the drive is in an unrecognized disc format, but format the drive in general. Hope this helps,

  • Drive (USB key) cleaned using the command line. Not able to use the USB.

I had downloaded Chrome OS vanilla http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ and writes to a 8 GB USB key. After that I checked, I tried to remove it. I plugged my USB and it asked me to format it. There was only one option of 1 GB. After formatting, I just had 1 GB on my USB key. Then, I tried http://erlern.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/repair-unallocated-space-from-usb-flash-drive/ and followed the procedure in the comments.

    Step 1: Start-> CommandPrompt->
    Step 2: Type diskpart-> Enter
Step 3: Type list disk-> Enter
Note: (find the allocated number of the disk)
Step 4: Type select disk X-> Enter
Note: (If X is the number of your drive)
    Step 5: Type clean-> Enter

After that when I plug my camera he asks me to format the drive. It shows unknown capacity. After clicking on start it says Windows could not complete the format. Then when I close it, it says Windows can not format H. check that the drive and the drive are connected correctly, make sure that the disc is not dead, and then try again. For more information, search the help of read-only files and how to change them. Now I can't use it and it has no memory. Please help me.

I got it. I HAD to PLUG IN ANOTHER PORT USB (IT DOESN'T WORK ON OTHER TWO) AND USE the TOOL in http://erlern.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/repair-unallocated-space-from-usb-flash-drive/ (in the tool, that the device will not be detected in the tool in the other 2 ports) Thank YOU

I get startup repair screen when I try to boot my laptop Dell Inspiron windows 7, I run the scan and detects any errors. So, I tried to use a USB repair for a laptop Dell Latitude Windows 7 pro and I still can't the computer to start. Tried to restore to the factory settings, can not. I have no image, backups, all missing, restore points?

After that I tried to launch the USB repair I got 0x400110020000100A error code and I received error (0x8007027E) indicating the device will not start without a reboot.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not computer illiterate, but am not pro either. Just use them not program them or even understand all languages!

Dell Inspiron laptop about 4-5 years.

    Running windows 7 Home Edition.

Does not start little matter what I tried.

If I remember correctly, I looked in MS-DOS mode and noticed that it said something like "x: win...» "that seemed strange to me because I thought that it should say"c: victory... "but as I said I am not a computer wiz so if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

I'm about to rip the hair off my head with my laptop. My latitude was blue planned, surprisingly I fixed it (don't ask how, you couldn't tell). Then my dell inspiron would not start right after my dell latitude fell out of my truck and landed on the sidewalk, wanted to kill the person, the screen is broken. I can use it but it is very difficult, see a mosquito net and not perfectly clear, works well. lol someone knows somewhere or that would install a new screen for a reasonable price? I live in the Boston area.

    Hello

Thank you for the update on the issue. I appreciate your time and effort in resolving this issue.

You can try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    • A master boot record (MBR)
    • A boot sector
    • A Boot Configuration data (BCD) store

Note: When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the problem, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe

Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392

If the problem persists, proceed to method 2.

    Method 2:

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Tool command prompt open in the mode of the Windows recovery environment .
    2. You will see X:\Sources
    3. Type chkdsk c:\ at the flashing prompt to launch the utility Chkdsk. replace c:\ with the letter of the drive that you want to run the Chkdsk utility. If the hard drive is d:\, then type that instead.
    4. After the "chkdsk c:\. "insert \f command to fix errors on the disk volume or the \r to recover bad sectors and then press ENTER.
    5. Restart the computer once the chkdsk command has completed.

Note: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive, it attempts to repair this sector, if all available on which data may be lost.

  • Cannot re - install Windows7 from USB key created with Dell Datasafe Local Backup

    Hello

I created Dell Datasafe Local Backup recovery media and stored on a USB key.

However my laptop Dell Inspiron has only USB 3.0 ports so when I try to boot on the USB it tells me: "cannot find the image of system recovery. "If you try to restore your pc from a USB 3.0 (blue) USB Port please connect to another USB Port, restart your PC and try Recovery.

If my laptop has no former USB 2 ports and, apparently, Windows 7 doesn't come with native support USB 3 so how can I re - install my system using the USB that I made Dell Datasafe Local backup?

I tried to make a set of Dell Datasafe DVD, but it is not I think that there is a bug in the routine of Datasafe Local Backup DVD recovery media.
