Speakers do not work, but the headphones are

Hello

Just until yesterday, the speakers were working well, but today I try listening to something but no sound coming from the speaker.

I plugged my headphones and it seems to work very well. But when I unplug my headphones no sound. Can someone help me?

Thank you

Hello Ninito,

Because you heard tones during the display of the color bars in the embedded PSA Diagnostics, this means that the speakers work.

Because you can hear the audio through the headphones this means that the audio hardware and driver are working.

If you reinstall the audio driver * but still can not hear the speakers, this means that in the headphone detection circuit does not. When the detection circuit fails, Windows "believes" that a plug into the Jack and therefore will not allow audio to switch the speakers.

The solution is to replace the plug, but your model is taking part of the motherboard. To replace decision means replace the motherboard which is too expensive for most people. Your idea of using an external speaker system is probably your best workaround.

As you may know, Dell does not support Windows 8 on the model of the Studio 1558. I guess that the audio driver you are using is now the native audio driver that is built into Windows 8. You can also try the IDT audio driver (IDT is the manufacturer of audio equipment on a Studio 1558). This link will lead you to a page of drivers suggested for a Studio 1558 with Windows 8. If you want to try the driver IDT, go to this page and click the link under the word "Audio".

If you are able to install an IDT audio driver in your Studio 1558 with Windows 8, there is a solution that could allow audio to come through the speakers. This workaround is in V of article 2 of the Jack FAQ of headphones.

    Hello @hifive11,

I read your post on how your laptop speakers do not work, but the headphones work fine, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

The first step that I recommend is to follow this document on the no sound on speakers (Windows 7). This should help to restore the sound from your speakers.

You can also activate the speakers on your computer as default playback device. This is possible by following the steps below:

    1. click on the Start button

    2. click on Control Panel

    3. click hardware and sound (the icons of sort by 'category' Control Panel) and then click on its

    4. under reading, you should see one or two speaker icons. One of them should have a green check mark next to it (which will be the helmet of your laptop device). If the second speaker icon is not visible, right-click in the list of devices and select Show disabled devices

    5. a second disabled icon "speakers" should appear. Right click on this icon, then click Activate

    6. test your speakers

If the problem persists, I recommend to you your laptop a previous restore point before the speakers stopped working. This can be done by following the steps described in this document on using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7).

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your response!

Since neither updates Jan - 10 have installed, I'm going to hand you Support MS in the hope that they can resolve the problem. See below.

That being said, is an interpretation of the 80070017 - cyclic redundancy check error "a device attached to the system does not work," which suggests that a hardware problem might be the cause of the error (although I must say that it is a very low possibility in this case).

    Good luck!

Check your model number again, I can't find the one you listed. You can get the product number by pressing Fn + ESC key or check the service Tag.

Click on the link below. Enter your product number. After you enter the PN, click Next, then choose the software & Drivers. On the next page use the menu drop down to select your (probably Windows 7 64-bit) operating system. A list will fill with the drivers. Download & save the last Audio driver.

The overall sound does not work in any of my apps unless earphones are connected. All other sound works and I checked the individual applications to ensure that the sound is turned on and he says he is.

    Try this...

Close all open applications... Sign in your account... Perform a reset... Try again...

Reset ( No Data will be lost)

Press and hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time...

Wait for the Apple logo to appear...

Usually takes about 15-20 seconds... ( But may take longer...)

    Release the buttons...

If no joy... Try to plug and unplug the helmet a few times... Be nice...

  • Satellite C660 - keyboard does not work but the Num and caps lock shift are on

I have a Satellite C660 which was working fine this morning. When I came home from work and he turned, the keyboard does not work and therefore can not enter my login information.
The Num and caps lock shift are turned on.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hello

You are able to disable the CapsLock and NumLock?
You can access the BIOS by pressing F2 by turning on the device?

If this does not work, I would recommend checking an external USB keyboard.
If the USB keyboard would be functions, then this means that the internal keyboard is defective and must be replaced.

  • No sound from speaker, but sound does not return when the headphones are connected

    Things Ive tried
Checked in the playback devices to see if the speakers have been checked as audio by default
Reinstalled and updated my Realtek Audio drivers.

  • Logitech speakers do not work since the installation of Windows 7 Home Premium

    Original title: audio help

Installed 7 Home premium on the computer. Logitech x-530 speakers are registered and that they do not work. Saya no audio devices installed. These speakers do not come with usb at the back of the computer. Jaks only black, yellow and green in the audio ports. How can I make them work?

Plug the green in your audio output.  Make sure the volume of your software is truned upward as well as your speaker volume.

Your speakers are a dumb device - they have no need for anything whatsoever, but an audio to work on something output jack (probably can cling to an ipod) and something streaming for them.

  • cDAQ-9174 does not work in the Bay area

    Hello

I have a strange problem. We use a cDAQ 9174 to collect data of voltage. It works very well when we use it in our lab in San Clemente, California. However, when we bring this same cDAQ North to our laboratory in the Bay area, it is no longer connects with the laptop. We plug it in the same way, but the computer does not detect the cDAQ while Northern California laboratory. While at San Francisco International Airport, I even tried to plug the cDAQ to my computer while waiting for my flight, and is not connected with the computer then.

But when we arrived in San Clemente, California and tried the cDAQ overnight, he connected and communicates very well with the computer.

It is with the same laptop, cDAQ and power cables and usb. The only thing that has changed is the location. We brought this cDAQ North 3 times and each time it never works in the North, but the day after return to the South in San Clemente, the cDAQ works.

Can someone explain what is happening? It is difficult to solve the problems because right now the cDAQ works very well even though we are in San Clemente.

    Thank you

OK, I think I understand why he did not.

I plugged the DAQ today and noticed that I had some ths same problems as before, he did not communicate with my laptop. Labview programs designed to ensure that it did not. I remember talking to a representative of Labview by telephone and he said that sometimes turns off background services. I went looking and found a service called 'NOR device Loader' was arrested. The executable is called nipalsm.exe.

I restarted the service and reconnected in my DAQ and it still worked!

I believe that through this service is stopped, the computer does not load the drivers for data acquisition, so that won't work.

I was able to reproduce the problem by stopping the service and trying to launch my labview programs, meeting the same mistakes that I've had in Norcal. And I solved the problem by restarting the service.

We had tried to restart your computer to solve the problem, but I guess that this service is not starting sometimes when the computer restarts.
