SQL GUI included with Oracle?
I remember a year ago, reading on a SQL most "GUI", who was still with Oracle 11 g type. I don't remember the name of the tool, but I was able to launch the tool in my install of Solaris 10 of Oracle 11 g at this time and thought it was very nice. It is an application that came with the installation of Oracle (I didn't download anything else).The problem is that I don't remember the name of the application or where he was. Apparently, he was not in the standard $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory, but I see just what it was.
I was looking for my system and hammering at try and Goodle not luck.
I hope that someone in the forum knows what this tool, and where I can find! (Note, the application was in 11g, now, I work with an install of Solaris 10 g...)
Thank you
KSL.
I guess that the application you're talking about is Developer SQL. It is a Java GUI application, so it is cross-platform, Oracle began including the 11g client.
I don't know about the top of my head where that would be installed on a Solaris client machine. Given that this is a free tool, however, and there is a much more recent version available on OTN, which fixed quite a number of bugs, I would expect that you would be better to download and install the most recent version in any case.

Reviews of loading fails with Oracle DB but DB SQL
Hello
When I tried to use the newspaper to charge, the registration procedure was pass.
After I clicked on the message button, an error message showed as follows:
==================================================
Error: Failed to import files.
Details: Invalid procedure call or argument File=C:\Hyperion\FDM\t01\Inbox\Journal.xls
StackTrace:

==================================================
However, I tried the same sheet excel template file on an other Soft FDM which
repository backend, sql Server 2005, was different from the previous one, the
validation process is OK.
I also found this journal ' multi-Load Model: Import "as follows:

News of the event: Bulk Import failure on the record!
Error code: 5
E/s Source: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\tWfdadmi14356153002314.tmp
==================================================
The original FDM 9.3.1 app was based on the oracle 10.2.0.4 repository.
So I wonder what there should be a few bugs when the FDM generates oracle import in the log file.
I can't find any bug report or attached to this subject on the website of oracle patch support.
Did someone meet this similar problem?
Or what configuration setting should I set?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you ~.

How to connect Forms 6i and reports 6i with oracle 10g R2?
Hey everybody,
I need your help in linking the two Forms 6i and reports 6i with Oracle 10 g Release 2 db, MS Access(2003, 2007) and SQL database (Microsoft Visual Studio 2008). I am a newbie. I installed all the on my laptop HP with Windows 7 installed Ultimate(32 bit OS). I want to generate reports and forms by accessing data from databases mentioned above. Please provide me with the configuration steps.
Thanks in advance...!Being new to the forum, I encourage you to consider the following before you post much more:
http://blogs.Oracle.com/Shay/entry/10_commandments_for_the_otn_fo
As for your question, I hope that you read my posts.
As I mentioned, form/reports 6 is very old and operating systems, you suggested that you will use are very new. This version of F/R is obsolete and expected that it works on a new operating system is not realistic. Why are spending you time with such an old version? Even if you're just trying to learn the product, learning with an old version is probably not a good idea.
The tnsnames.ora file, you need to update is this: c:\orant\net80\admin
If you want to learn how to use the product in detail, you probably won't be able to do it in a forum. It is not as if we were trying to learn MS Notepad. Forms/States (and all Oracle products) are enterprise-level products. All products Oracle would require that you spend time to review documentation and in many cases attend some courses to always be effective using them. You can find documents and training in countless places, including within the site of the Oracle. I recommend that you consider that your place of departure.
Here are some examples:
Forms of technical documents for most of the versions:
http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/Developer-Tools/Forms/Overview/index.html11.1.2 of Documentation Forms Library:
http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E24269_01/index.htmArchived forms documentation:

http://education.Oracle.com/pls/web_prod-PLQ-dad/db_pages.GetPage?page_id=501The forms and the report generator online help is also a good place for more information that in some cases, the sample code is provided.

noob - is this possible with Oracle Locator?
Hello
I'm a DBA/PLSQL developer for a small project on a small database. We were recently asked if we could do the following, inside an Oracle PL/SQL procedure:
* Given a lat/lon, find the center closest to the population
I am brand new to Oracle Spatial and am scouring the Oracle Spatial information on the Oracle web site. I'm learning tons of new things... but I've not seen many examples of code or examples of applications. I understand that Oracle "Locator" is delivered with Oracle DB, so I already have this installed - so I can use it?
#1) can I search the name of city of lat/lon with Oracle Locator or do I have to tell my boss that we must concede the true Oracle Spatial?
(#2) someone at - it a simple PL/SQL procedure or something that can take a lat/lon and find the city nearest? Is this even possible, without loading a ton of additional information cards / superimposed and other things? I'm really confused as to what the Oracle Locator of out-of-the-box 'maps', or which include... the PDF Locator said it comes with a 'whole earth geometry model', but I don't know exactly what this means. I'm going to guess the name of the city might be there, but people in the city are not (?)
I have access to Metalink too, so feel free to point me to the Oracle documentation and other things, if there is.
Thanks for any help/tips
-KeithI wanted to get back to you on this last week, but the site is down whenever I tried...
Out of the box, Oracle Locator does not come with any data. SDO_GEOMETRY is just another type of data, and Locator gives you the ability to index data SDO_GEOMETRY and run operators on data.
can I search the name of city of lat/lon with Oracle Locator or do I have to tell my boss that we must concede the true Oracle Spatial?
Absolutely, base location based applications run well on Locator and did not need the extra features of real Oracle Spatial.
Is this even possible, without loading a ton of additional information cards / superimposed and other things?
Well you need some data. If I asked you to write a stored procedure that takes a customer code and returns the details of the customer, you expect for there to be a Customers table somewhere. Similarly, you will need a table "Population Center" If you want to request, where is the nearest Population Center.
the Locator PDF says it comes with a «whole earth geometry model»
Is not referring to the data. Geometry whole earth model means that you can run queries that respects the fact that the Earth is not flat when calculating of distance/area etc.
#1) No, internal Oracle cards/data have no existing cities? I create my own table with name of city, population, lat/lon and a column of type SDO_GEOMETRY?
Fix. Out of the box, there is no spatial data. However, it is not that hards to get your hands on some, depending on where is your area of interest and specify how it should be.
Have a look here for examples of data:
http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/spatial/spatial-partners-data-087203.html(#2) can I use this type SDO_GEOMETRY and the other SDO types/packages/functions, to locate a closest city to a lat/lon data, using the Oracle Locator's free/included? I don't need parts extra-licence Oracle Spatial for this?
Yes. Have a look here to see what is in and out of the index of development:
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/AppDev.112/e11830/sdo_locator.htm#i632018It is written on XE 10 g, but I can assume that this example also works on (10.2.0.5) 10g or 11g?
Yes the type of query, you're going to run probably work on the release of all the > 9.0.1.
Note that in Oracle Locator/Spatial, you need to store the data in longitude and latitude, and not the opposite... common mistake.
Here is a simple example of a stored procedure that returns to the city that is the point.
create or replace procedure get_city_by_lat_long(in_long in number, in_lat in number, out_cursor out sys_refCursor) is begin open poutCursor for select id, name from cities where sdo_anyinteract(geometry, sdo_geometry(2001, 8307, sdo_point_type(in_long, in_lat, null), null, null)) = 'TRUE'; end get_city_by_lat_long; /
Also... google for "Oracle Spatial tutorial Performing location benchmarking. The first result will take you to a great tutorial that covers a large part of what you are looking for.

I am very new to Java development and have tried to launch the sample application (Development of Web Applications with Oracle ADF rich) in the start-up, the author of this app has advised developers to unlock the HR user account.
What I did to connect to Oracle as user = system/password = system and running this SQL command 'ALTER USER HR IDENTIFIED BY NewPwd ACCOUNT UNLOCK"in Sqlplus and with a return code 2.
Don't code 2: success or failure?
However, the HR user is always unlocked after issuing this command, and can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you.
Timo,
Thanks for confirming. The essential difference is that the command must be run as
SYS AS SYSDBA
instead of such as SYSTEM

Hello
We have not tested and certified with Oracle XE internally
You must use an Oracle Enterprise Edition for Advanced Replication
What version of Oracle trade you install, I can't say extract of newspaper, you've posted

Problems with Oracle 11g R2 XE
Hi guys,.
I had a problem and have to solve for abt a week now and tried a lot of solutions.
My environment:
Windows 7 Professional SP 1 64-Bit
AMD Phenom II x 4 940 @3.0 GH
4 GB of RAM (in use during the installation of 40%)
The Windows Firewall is enabled (but oracle.exe and lstnr.exe are configured as an exception)
Avast! FREE Antivirus Version 2014.9.0.2018
Installation (both times with the same result):
Installed O 11g 64-Bit XE in two different ways:
I was logged in with user lies in Admingroup
Installation started via right click with administrationprivileges
I activated the Administrators account and logged with adminprivileges.
After that, I installed the 11g XE 64 bit
between the two steps I cleaned and restarted my system, register was too empty and the file has been deleted manually
as a first step, I get this problem: Windows cannot find " " http://127.0.0.1:%HTTPPORT%/Apex/f?p=4950 "
-> Manually changing HTTPORT % to 8080
-> now I could double-click the shortcut, Firefox/IE/Chrome opens but 404 not Found error is returned

I looked in the oradim.txt log:

Looked in the log-file files 5 from clscX.txt (probably after each systemreboot? containing the following):

I have Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and SQL Server 2008R2 with Visual Studio 2008 (BIDS) installed on my laptop (Windows 7 SP1).
I installed Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio. I connect to Oracle 11 GR 1 material.
He worked for a while, but has stopped working. When I check the Options window in any Visual Studio under Oracle development tools, I get the error message:
An error has occurred this loading property page.
Don't know what I've got to break.
Does anyone know what I can do about it?
Thnaks,
Fred
I have not seen this error. I suggest you reinstall Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio.

upgrade windows vcenter 5.1 with oracle external to the appliance database virtual 6
Hey people,
We have a Windows external Vcenter 5.1 with an oracle database server. We would like to upgrade to an appliance Vcenter virtual v6 with an external oracle database. I was not able to find much info on this since most posts and blogs are based or sql.
Is it as simple as deploying a new installation of a Vcenter virtuall device v6 and then connect it with our database current oracle and move virtual machines and turn from the old Server 5.1?
GR,
Michiel
Welcome to the community,
You can not skip vcenter windows 5.1 with oracle external to the appliance database virtual 6. You can improve windows vcenter 5.1 with oracle database external to vCenter windows 6.0 with external oracle database.
From now officially VMware does not support migration from Windows to vCSA. But it is adventure, you can explore more

I have not seen.
Thank you.
is 12 c, possible to manage the PDBs with Oracle Enterprise Manager Express?
Yes - but you will not have the COMPLETE management functionality. See the FAQ doc:
http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/database/manageability/emx-CDB-1965987.html
Can I Plug and unplug the PDBs with EM Express?
No, EM Express does not all CBD management capabilities in DB 12.1.0.1.0.
Review ALL sections of doc
How to find the URL?
When I run select dbms_xdb_config.gethttpsport (double); on a PDB file, it returns no rows.
Have you set up EM and set the port to the PDB? Again - see the FAQ doc
http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/database/manageability/emx-intro-1965965.html#A5
How can I configure EM Express on CBD and APB?
Users can configure EM Express at the root and container of the PDB, with each container using another HTTP/HTTPS port. When it is connected to the root container, the information displayed are the entire database, including all PDB files. When it is connected to a PDB file, displayed information is limited to the PDB data. For more information, see the section on EM Express on the CBD.

Hello world
During playback of Oracle ADF Real World Developer's Guide, I noticed the dates match occurring in JDeveloper is different from what is the list in the book. JDeveloper is failing to oracle.jbo.domain.Date, but according to the book:
DATE java.sql.Date DATE type is mapped to java.sql.Date if the column in the table is a no time didn't need information zone. DATE java.sql.Timestamp DATE type is mapped to java.sql.Timestamp if the column in the table has a component "time" and that the client needs to zone information. TIMESTAMP java.sql.Timestamp The TIMESTAMP type is mapped to java.sql.Timestamp if nanosecond precision is used in the database. In general, is it better to use java.sql.Date and java.sql.Timestamp instead of oracle.jbo.domain.Date? Using java.sql.Date and java.sql.Timestamp could save me some headaches conversion date. And, is there a place in JDeveloper to display these maps? I looked around and didn't see anything.
Thank you.
James
User, what version of jdev we are talking about?
In GR 11, 1 material versions db types date and timestamp are mapped to types of domain data that represents a wrapper for the native data types. The reason was that the framework can work with the domain types regardless of the underlying data type.
Since Oracle 11 GR 2 maps the types DB to java types (default selection, you can change it when you create a model project, you can set the Data Type Mapping). Once the pilot has business components define you cannot change this setting it would break existing components such as eo or vo.
So if you are working wit 11 GR 1 subject, you must use the domain types, if you work with GR 11, 2 or 12 c, you can use the domain types, but it is recommended to use the java type mapping.

SQL * PLUS connects with SQL >; question
People,
I'm confused on the command. / sqlplus with Oracle database.
According to my understanding,. / sqlplus connected with SQL > using option 3: sysdba, sysoper, sysasm.
I connect with SQL > to run the rel853.sql script to create a table PSOPRDEFN but a field "OPERPSWDSALT" did not appear in the table PSOPRDEFN although it is in the Create Table statement.
I connect with SQL * in the directory/home/user/OracleDB_Home/bin as below:
$ export SYSTEM_PASS = AccessId/mypass$ export ORACLE_HOME = / home/user/OracleDB_Home
$ export ORACLE_SID = HRCS90
$. / lsnrctl start LISTENER
$. / AccessId/mypass sqlplus as sysdba
SQL > startup
SQL > @/opt/PT8.53/scripts/rel853.sql
SQL > select OPERPSWDSALT in the AccessId.PSOPRDEFN;
It returns: "OPERPSWDSALT": invalid identifier.
I checked the table PSOPRDEFN that the OPERPSWDSALT field did not appear in the table PSOPRDEFN.I tried the sysoper option as below:
$. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass as sysoper
SQL > startup
SQL > @/opt/PT8.53/scripts/rel853.sql
SQL > select OPERPSWDSALT in the AccessId.PSOPRDEFN;
It returns: "OPERPSWDSALT": invalid identifier.
The sysoper error is the same thing with sysdba error.
I tried the sysasm option as below:
$. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass as sysasm
He returned: connection refused.
Someone told me this connection as SYS causes this error. If not a sysdba, sysoper, or sysasm, use the command. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass cannot connect with SQL >.
My question is:
First of all, why is what OPERPSWDSALT did not appear in the PSOPRDEFN table while it is in the CREATE TABLE statement?
Seocond, if not use SYS which is one of the 3 options, how to run the command. / sqlplus AccessId/mypass to connect with SQL > so that CREATE TABLE PSOPRDEFN correctly?Thank you.

People,
Hello. Thanks much for the reply. I just do the commands below:
$ export SYSTEM_PASS = AccessId/mypass
$ export ORACLE_HOME = / home/user/OracleDB_Home
$ export ORACLE_SID = HRCS90
$. / lsnrctl start LISTENER
$. / AccessId/mypass sqlplus as sysdba
SQL > show user;
Its release: the USER is "SYS".
SQL > connect AccessId/mypass
Its output:
Error: ORA - 01034:ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
64 - Linux_x86 error: no such file or directory.
As we see above, unable to connect to the Oracle database AccessId.
My question is:
What to do on AccessId, so that it can connect to the Oracle database?
Thank you.
so much for the use that you refuse to actually use COPY it PASTE & so that we can see the whole session.
In the past, you did
> SQL > startup
Maybe the database is out of order & must be started.
do exactly as below (line by line)
ID
sqlplus
/ as sysdba
startup
connect AccessId/mypass
COPY the results from above then PASTE all back here

ODI 12 c is included in Oracle Server License 12 c?
Hello
I'm looking in the license information and the only thing that I have discovered ODI 12 c for data integrator Enterprise Edition, which costs about 23 k per CPU.
In addition, Golden Gate to access non-Oracle data sources.
Can you get it someone please let me know if there is a basic version of ODI within the server Oracle 12 c license and if possible give a link? It would be very useful, because my current customers use OWB base and if they had to pay 23 k + by UC for ODI I think they're going to look into the alternatives on the market.
Kind regards
m
No, ODI license is not included with the Oracle DB license.

create the database with Oracle Client link
Hello together,
on my machine Windows 7 with Oracle Client installed 12.0.1.0, I'm trying to create a database link to a database server, which runs on Oracle Standard Edition1 11.2.0.2.
When I connect to sqlplus on the client with "sqlplus/nolog" and type the command:
SQL > create SID of the database link
connect to the user identified by passwd
using "tnsnames.ora connection."
I have a SP2-0640: not connected. OK, it is clear, because I use sqlplus with option/nolog. But client-side normally I have no database, where I can connect. So I think, there is no user, or?
The database to which I want to connect is located in tnsnames.ora.
Generally: Is it possible to use the Oracle Client to create a database link? Maybe there's another way to do this?
A big thank you and best regards,
David
You don't seem to understand the concept of a database link.
A database link connects two databases. Not a client and a database.
You need to link up in a data source to a target database.
The only thing you need is a client of sqlplus in sqlplus client, you need to connect to the source database.
If you can't connect to the source database, you must present the statement to someone.

Since SQL SERVER 2005 to Oracle 10.2
Hello
How can we transfer DB from sql server 2005 to Oracle 10.2.0.1?
Thank you

SQL Server databases have three types of files:*
Primary data files
The primary data file is the starting point of the database and points to the other files in the database. Each database has a primary data file. The file name extension recommended for primary data files is .mdf.
*Secondary data files
Secondary data files include all files of data, other than the primary data file. Some databases may not have secondary data files, while others have multiple secondary data files. The file name extension recommended for secondary data files is .ndf.
*Log files
Log files hold all the log information used to recover the database. There must be at least one log file for each database, although there may be more than one. The file name extension recommended for log files is .ldf.
