Srever DNS may be unavailable

I get questions of connectivity, with the message that my DNS server may be unavailable. The Microsoft software that verifies the connectivity says there is a here (yellow triangle), but fails to solve the problem. How can I determine if the problem is at the ISP, or on the computer. My suspicion is that it is the access provider because the problem appears largely an intermittent problem.

Go to start-> type cmd-> right-click on it-> click on run as administrator.

Type ipconfig/flushdns , and then press on enter.
Now check that the problem persists.
If so, try the following steps in order:
1. type ipconfig/all and press ENTER.
Note the default gateway. Additionally, make sure that the IP address does not start with 169.254.xxx.xxx.
If the IP address starts with 169.254.xxx.xxx, DHCP is disabled or there is a problem with the router/modem on the DHCP service. Internet connectivity is affected if the DHCP is disabled. Reset the modem should solve the problem.
2 type ping [for example, ping 192.168.1.1] and press ENTER.
Make sure you see 0% loss.
If this is true, he has no problem with the router/modem. But if DHCP is disabled, contact the router manufacturer support for assistance.
3. type ping and press ENTER. For example, ping www.google.com.
Here, too, make sure you see 0% loss.
4. use the tracert/pathping command to check any Web site.
For example, pathping or tracert www.microsoft.com www.microsoft.com

If steps 1 and 2 fail, contact the router/modem manufacturer support.
If steps 3 and 4 fail, contact your ISP. The problem is on the side of the ISP.
Note: If you use ping with the Microsoft Web site, you will get a clear answer. That's why Google is suggested here.

    1. click on START
    2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes). Right-click on the result at the top of the menu START and select 'run as administrator '.
    3 type netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt , and then press enter
    4. then type netsh winsock reset , and press on enter
    5. close out on all open windows and go to START > Control Panel > Internet Options
    6. click on the tab "Connection" and then click on the "Network settings" tab
    7 uncheck "Automatically Detection settings" and click "Ok".
    8. click on 'Apply' and then restart your computer

    * Important: You MUST restart your computer after these 8 steps. The setting changes will not come into play until you do.

    I have 2 accounts, a gmail account and an e-mail office365 account.
    Until yesterday, I could send and receive emails on both accounts, however now it fails with the following error:

    The message send failed.
    The message cannot be sent because the connection to the server failed outgoing (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com . The server is may be unavailable or refuses the outgoing (SMTP) server connections. Check that your outgoing (SMTP) server settings are correct and try again.

    (Or a similar message when connecting to the server smtp office 365.)

    I restarted the computer, confirmed the address of server, reset passwords, confirmed that I can ping the servers.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The parameters of your server for Gmail seem good. I'm not really familiar with Office365, but they are probably ok as well.

    Are there external firewall or proxy, you have to go?
    You have all this computer's Internet access?

    What is suspicious, that the two accounts are not at the same time. So my best guess is that the cause is rather external and not Thunderbird.

    I moved my old MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Pro Thunderbird (I've done it before without any problem).
    I've updated Thunderbird on two laptops before I did - version 31.0
    Race the new machine 10.9.4 Mavericks

    I started to notice intermittent problems with sending email - this seemed to release when I opened my BT mail account (the account that "feeds" Thunderbird) and then resend the email in Thunderbird.
    This "correction" has now stopped working and all what I continually get when you try to send the message:

    "Send the Error Message
    The message cannot be sent because the connection to the server of SMTP mail.btinternet.com has failed.
    The server is may be unavailable or refuses the SMTP connections. "(etc.).

    I checked with Mozilla and BT forums/help pages, then went to Thunderbird > tools > account settings > outgoing Server (SMTP) > change

    Then, I changed the settings to those recommended by BT and Mozilla:
    Server name: mail.btinternet.com
    Port - 465
    Security - SSL/TLS
    Authentication: normal password
    -User name (username)

    I also tried many variations (including the original settings)
    Server name: mail.btinternet.com
    Port - 587
    Security - no
    Authentication: password transmitted not securely
    -User name (username)

    I tried to remove my password and then redo the especially.
    I tried to turn the router and turn it back on and redo the especially.
    Nothing - apart from not being able to send email from Thunderbird works fine with incoming, I think really that I have tried everything I can. Can I remove my prefs - will this help? Is there something I missed? I wasted 4 hours and it feels like 4 days!

    I run two clients TB since an installation - never had any problems. I've just updated to 24.4.0 and one of these installed works fine, the other will not receive or send e-mails. I get the following error.

    Any SMTP server I use - I have 4 that (usually) work, no matter which I use I have the same problem. I can use the same SMTP server to send the other as the other install - install works, this one isn't. VERY STRANGE.

    connectivity immediately after an update issues are generally anti too cautious anti-virus programs and blocking everything in this new unknown.
