SSD 480 GB DOA?

Just got my Sandisk extreme 480 GB drive, attached to the sata in lieu of a regular pc hard drive. The startup disk is recognized as a Sandisk. In windows, the drive is not found. All that is visible are the usual hard drives and DVD player. It is as if it does not exist. Tried other sata ports and the same result. Any ideas? Edit: usung win 7 and mother nvidia card.

You have probably to initialize and format.

Start-> Search-> 'create and format hard disk Partitions.

You'll open the disk management window, look for your new drive and "Create a new Simple Volume"

I hope this helps.

  • SanDisk ultra II 480 GB ssd update for macbook pro 2009 (5.4)

Hi, this is not a question but just some information that I wanted to let down as I was cultural for this search but could not find any info anywhere here or elsewhere online...

My 6 year old, 250GB internal hard drive died and I decided to replace it with an ssd, after looking at all the options and additional information about compatibility issues, problems of crash/stand etc. I decided (without a clue and fingers crossed) with the sandisk ultra II ssd 480 GB

So far so good, the mac works amazingly fast, no el capitan osx installation problems and no problems with SATA speed negotiation, turns the 3gps. It is like having a brand new computer!

    Conclusion: upgrade 100% recommended

I recently took a similar decision for my Mac Pro Tower silver server, install two 960GB SSD of this manufacturer (Sandisk).

The SATA 3 G bps Bus SATA Mac's limits you to a maximum of about 375 M bytes/second. Although this is a little slower than maximum speed than the SSD applications (on the order of about 500 cases of best M bytes/s), it is still fast enough.

Improving the speed on a rotating disk is so great, it is certainly useful.

Make sure that you activate the TRIM on your SSD. If ongoing 10.10.4 or later, you can use the Terminal command:

    sudo trimforce enable

(your password is not included, you will be notified that it is serious, and a reboot will be once the TRIM is activated).

  • Installation of SSD drive and the noise of the fan to the MacBook Pro?

    Hello

Just replaced the stock 5400 RPM HARD drive in my MacBook Pro mid-2012 with an SSD 480 GB Sandisk and now the fan makes a loud noise. Sounds like it's revving at full speed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thank you.

You can try Macs with Intel processors: System management controller (SMC) reset and see if that fixes the problem. Unless you make a mistake in the reassembly, the two should be independent. On the other hand, it could be something in the design of the SSD. Personally, I would like to replace it with an OWC or OCZ.

To check if the two are somehow connected try to replace the old HDD to see if the fan slows down. If it then reinstalls the SSD, making attention to do correctly and re - test. See how to install the ribbon cable short connecting the drive to the motherboard. It's easy to get the pins on the misaligned ribbon cable.

  • Satellite Z930-12Z - add RAM and replace the SSD

    Hi all

I'm new here and read some articles also on the Z930-12Z Satelite but I have two questions on the Satellite Z930-12Z:

    1. What is the maximum RAM for Satellite Z930-12Z? There are two locations inside or accommodation?
I read this blog, but I don't understand if there are two slots or a slot...
    https://Forum.Toshiba.EU/showthread...Llite-Z930-12Z

    2. could I change the SSD? Is there a maximum GB for SSDS for my Ultrabook? No matter what SSD I install?

    I had these SSDS:
    2.1 Kingston SMS200S3 / 480 G SSD 480 GB (6.4 cm (2.5 '' mSATA)
    2.2 MZ-M5E500BW Samsung SSD 500 GB (mSATA)

No matter what SSD I install?

    Thank you in advance!

    Rebecca Bugday

Two DIMM slots with 16 GB support apparently. You won't need 16 GB. Take a set of 2 x 4 GB RAM dual channel, I'll leave a link to a few good things that I use for my cell phone 16 GB

    http://www.ebuyer.com/646124-HyperX-...1779&PKW=&Pmt=

Also, Yes, of course, you can change the SSD, you will need to get some kind of USB 3.0 in the first mSATA interface and clone the existing drive overall, because laptops do not want fresh windows install.

  • Is a good PNY CS1211 SSD for my computer?

I own a MacBook Pro and I am wanting to upgrade the HDD with a SSD and I wonder if a PNY CS1211 SSD (480 GB) will be my fast computer. Also, I wonder if I can exchange my SuperDrive with a trolley that can contain a HDD/SSD without voiding my warranty. Please answer; Thank you very much!

    I own a 13 "MacBook Pro early 2011 2.3 GHz with 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 RAM.

SSD drives... OWC (macsales.com) or Cruical are most recommended.  I've been running a Crucial SSD for 2 years without problem.  Samsungs have many problems reported here... maybe because of thousands used if the questions are obvious but even Samsung does not claim full compatibility Mac on their Web site.

As for replace the Superdrive by 2nd drive... not really a 'guarantee' issue with a 2011 system that has left no guarantee.  But it is not exactly "authorized" by Apple.  You might get some resistance of Genius Bar if you take it in to... say... battery or display or the logic of Council's questions.  Probably if it was still in warranty the warranty would be void.

  • More than SanDisk 480 GB compatible with MacBook Pro mid 2012?

If the Mac has a port 2.5 "SATA SSD is compatible.

  • Pavilion DV7-2185DX: SSD install on a HP Pavilion DV7-2185dx

I want to know what issues and hardware do I need to install an SSD 480 GB drive in my laptop as main drive?  Please consider the SATA and power consumption when you reply.

    Thank you!!!

Already considered. The type SATA or power is a matter of concern. Just remove the existing mechanical drive and install the SSD. The worst thing you can do is overthink. The SSD model I would stay far from East MX100 Crucial... I prefer the Samsung 850 Evo, but you can't go wrong with all major brands.

The BIOS is set to fully support the ahci and SSD use less energy. Your laptop's SATA-II but a SSD SATA-III will downclock and fine workmanship.

A second hard drive to your laptop can support if you only now, you can put your mechanical drive in the second Bay. Newmodeus.com sells the hard drive after the caddy/connector kits. Just be sure and get the right for the dv7-2000 series; They vary a little. The second hard drive kit makes cloning really easy too... everything is possible inside the laptop.

  • Help with my SSD Setup/Scratch/Previews/Disk Cache

I read the generic installation thread. I had another post regularly in the forums regarding the purchase of the SSD.

I still have some questions, and which relates to the material, so I put it here.

Recently upgrade my SSD configuration. So I still have to check in my projects I've been working on and put the media files and all

    for the new SSD.

My thought on the hard drive setup.

    (C) Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD (OS and programs)

(E :) WD Black 1 TB for storage

    (F) SSD 480 GB Sandisk Ultra II for Media Files folder of the project

(G),SSD 480 GB Sandisk Ultra II for the Cache previews

Here is an image showing the readers:

    New Drives.jpg

Firstly a bit of my workflow.

I do my correction of color and most of the effects in the first.
I work mainly in first with dynamic link to 2015 after effects CC (audio mix in Audition with video export not dynamic link).

I work in After Effects alone is that for some intensive 3D editing, intros, outros.

When in Premiere Pro... I do the dynamic link to After Effects to replace After Effects Composition and to render in Place (can always come back to make changes later).

I do all my titles in After Effects with dynamic link as well. Yet once, make and replace it as always.

If it's something intense, I work in After Effects only and import that into first separately.

My projects are not huge. Never really more than 50 GB. Usually short videos upward at 10 minutes.

Now, I read in the manual on some of what I'm about to ask, but some is still not clear.

    Here are some shots:

First my global memory configuration (upgraded to 32 GB of RAM soon)

    Global Memory.jpg

First screenshots and issues: Please see at the beginning of this thread and the structure of the unit.

It is where I have my Cache of media and data base: G:\ which is a Sandisk Ultra II SSD 480 GB
    Premiere Cache.jpg

Now, my question is about the capture video and Audio captured. Type to get what it is...

but it also refers to all of my media files? Where are my media files and project files?

Don't forget, I have not checked my projects, I work on and moved in the new SSD.
My project files and media are going to go on the F: drive, which is a card Sandisk Ultra II 480 GB SSD.

Future projects will make their way.
As you can see I put my video Previews and Audio previews the G: drive, which is the other

SSD 480 GB SanDisk Ultra II.

Auto backup project, I guess that would be fine in the future as well as project.

    Scratch Disk.jpg

Now After Effects: Should which drive I set my Cache Disk too given my configuration?

    After Effects.jpg

Last part of this equation is export of Final project: when I export final, I manually select where I want. Which

Drive would give me the faster export? Size of exports nor more than 2 GB of the file. (mainly goes on youtube)

So I know that it is a wall of text and images, just try to give all the information.
If anyone has any input of the best configuration, it would be great.

I have two SSD Sandisk Plus 120 GB drives, with a slow writing of about 180 MB/s speed
Those that would be used in RAID0 of my Sandisk Ultra II died.

I was the same person who responded to your other post. I'll add my 2cents, but I hope others will come along to give their advice as well.

Another option of disk configuration, if your motherboard allows, is to make 2 raids.

    (C) Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD (OS and programs)

    (D) DVD player

    (D) 2xSandisk more SSD 120 GB raid-0 (total 240 gb) (cache and previews)

    (E :)) 2xSandisk Ultra II 480 GB raid-0 (960 GB total) (media and projects))

    (F) external usb case or dock to hold the WD Black 1 TB (backups and storage)

There should always be a backup of the project and the media on any drive, but raid 0 can add more risk, it must be ensured that these backups are fact/available.

any project car record must be recorded in a different drive ongoing projects are being recorded. This is part of the idea of auto-enregistre is an automatic backup. its also been recommended to save the project as a copy, manually to another drive at least once a day, that auto-enregistre may fail or become corrupted (bugs).

After that the effects disk cache setting should go to the cache drive, that we call cache & previews. disk cache should be used in dynamic link when you render and replace in the first, after that, if you need space, you can empty the cache in AE to release this space.

the parameter memory in first: I don't think it means a lot, but I've seen people have to experiment only when getting poor performance. Looks like some had to put to memory or half of what was the total system, for first to work well. You may notice a difference in changing its settings.

the captured video and audio areas captured that I think are only for new media captured/recorded directly in the first. I don't think that it applies to as rendered files and replace the video or audio.

exports, your processor is only 4 core and depending on the amount of work the cpu must do during export, the performance of readers may not have any effect. If its export quickly, you can export to any drive other than the drive media/projects. If you're looking at the windows task manager and see cpu at 50-75% and think it's a disk it slows down, chances are his righteous inefficiencies in the low usage of the processor responsible for adobe software.

  • SSD or HARD drive?

I know we asked a lot of settings for the hard disks, but my question is more than what kind of hard drives and so. Now I work with h.264 files and am now, I start with the 5 d MRK3 RAW Footage.

    My pc:

    -i7 - 3930K

    ASUS - P9X79-WS

-Gigabyte GTX 670 2 GB OC

    -32 GB G.Skill 1600 Mhz-

    -Corsair AX750W

    -Noctua D14 SE-2011

    -Cooler Master HAF - X

    C: 256 GB Samsung 840 PRO (Os / App)

    D: 2 x Caviar Black 1 TB RAID 0 (media / projects / Cache)

E: caviar Black 1 TB (export / media Cache)

    F: caviar Green 1 TB (D: backups)

G: caviar Green 500 GB (music, movies, etc.).

I want to add new disks to my system, but I don't know what to do. I think to buy two 256 GB Samsung Pro 840 in Raid 0, but I'm not sure that I put, media, exports, etc... Or add just a larger capacity SSD (480 GB, 500 GB, 960GB). I also thought to add more HARD drive in RAID mode.

I hope someone can help me. Thank you

  • configuration of Pro of the CMAC.

Hi Im a student in photography in the State of New York. Well well currently I have the full enhanced version to run Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premier Pro end 2013 Macbook Pro 15 inches. Photoshop and LR is my main programs. To be honest, Macbook Pro is not enough to run these programs well especially with Photoshop. In addition, overheating is a problem. I used it for 2 years and a half, but I really feel that I need to get a desktop quality as CMAC pro with huge compatibility. However, it is not easy to spend lots of money on electronics, especially computers. When I found that cMac Pro is very worthy of computer, I start researching on this topic to set up my own upwards.

    CMAC Pro: mid-2012, 5.1

    CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon 2.66 ghz 6 carrots

    RAM: 32 gb http://www.ebay.com/itm/181782216323?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 & getting = STR K % 3AMEBIDX % 3AIT

GPU: 760 GTX or Radeon 7950

Sandisk SSD: 480 GB more SATA 3

and the maximum price is $ 1500. For the most part, sellers have similar specs I wanted, except for the graphics card, CPU or RAM. I can simply add those, but I'm not sure if my establishment is very good with my uses so far. Based on my own setup, ideas or suggestions?

There is no CMAC Pro, a Mac Pro only. We cannot tell you what a used computer, you should buy, or you need to pay for it. You can search on Amazon, Google and eBay. There is only a single Mac Pro sold by Apple. They start at $999.99 2. The iMac can be bought for as little as $1 099,99.

  • I need decipher this panic report

    Hello

My Macbook Pro 2009 restarts randomly while I work with it. I tried to connect to a specific application usage, but failed. I've updated the OS a few times at the last, installed MS Office and Adobe creative suite, upgrading to an SSD HD and added more RAM. I removed the RAM and modified with the originals, but I always get these reboots. I don't know if this is the SSD for precise instructions where for compatibility with my Mac version. Here's the report from panic. I would appreciate any ideas.

  • Migrating from iPhoto

I have a late 2008 15-inch MacBook Pro (5.1) with 8 GB RAM on OS 10.11.6 Kingston SATA SSD 480 GB disk without any problem, except that I can't get the Photos app to import my iPhoto (version 9.6.1). library  The process starts off pretty easily, but it stalls repeatedly when it is finished by about 30%.  The library is GB 112.5.  The SSD has 46,85 GB of free space.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

The library is GB 112.5.  The SSD has 46,85 GB of free space.

Maybe that's the problem. While the Photos is the upgrade of the iPhoto library it will take plenty of work, even if the Photos are going to try to save the storage by using hard links to the image files in your iPhoto library.

I will try to make the migration to an external drive.  Copy your iPhoto library to an external drive, Mac OS extended (journaled) format.  Then run the iPhoto Library first aid tools on the copy of the iPhoto library.  There may be a corruption which prevents migration. See post of the old Toad on the reconstruction of the library: Re: iPhoto crashed on a number of occasions, but 2 times also appears to remove several events, including one I'm editing. When I go to re-import the last event, it shows them as already here. But I can't find them.

The copy of the reconstruction of the iPhoto library drag Photos icon in the Dock, then let the pics to update the library.  It works now?

  • Different boot disks

Current have a 480 GB SSD and a 2 TB HDD installed on our end 2009 27 "iMac.

What I want to do is to use the 2 TB as start player for my wife so that all its data (about 300 GB) is stored and to use the SSD 480 GB to store my data.

Question 1: Is it possible to start different disks for different users on the same iMac, so that when my wife connects it will connect automatically in 2 TB HD and when I connect it automatically connects in the 480 GB SSD.

Question 2: Why can't I see all the disk drives on my iMac when I go to the startup disk in preferences, I can't see them when I hold down the Option key at startup either.

    Thank you guys

    1. No, but it is possible for the home folders on different drives.

    2. install an OS on the second disc.

  • Worth to upgrade the hardware in 2011 MacBook Pro?

    I have a 2011 end 15 "Macbook Pro (MacBookPro8, 2):"

    CPU: Intel Core i7 (2.5 GHz, 8 MB L3, 4 cores, 256 KB of L2 cache cache)

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 1024 MB

Memory: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (my upgrade using OWC RAM)

Storage: Hitachi 750Go HD, 7200 RPM

Battery *-he won't hold much fees and I always keep connected when possible because battery just does not last too long.

But touch wood... except for the battery, I am happy with this old trick: the performances are quite good (with latest OS X 10.11.3).)

It is interesting to invest in some hardware upgrades that it would rejuvenate significantly?

I think the following (with the current prices of OWC):

    -new battery $99

-SSD, 480 GB OWC Mercury Electra 6G $195 (it is $ 63 less than equivalent Extreme Pro)

-1 TB HGST HD 7200 RPM $98 (with cube data, to be installed in the region of CD)

TOTAL: $392 (I cut this to $287 if I cut half of SSD and HD capabilities)

Opinions? My only concern is this new h/w were in a 5 year old laptop, how does life have left? Will be an investment to upgrade the h/w wasted because of other failures in 2 years?

First of all, longevity... some still run their lighter systems 2008 as web browsers and other tasks.  My MBP 2011 sends this message.

Second... An old battery is just that - something to be replaced instead of a 'sign of death.  I would like to replace it immediately at an Apple Store... old batteries can swell and damage case/keyboard/trackpad.  Maybe not, but it happens quite often.

As for HD... all the spinny readers die subsequently.  You are wise to consider a replacement.  My 2011 MBP has a Crucial MBP (OWC is also a very good drive, and get the non-Pro is not a bad decision, if the Pro is not necessary).

Basically if it's 'OK' outside the farm, the SSD will be much faster and the battery will allow it to better function as a portable device.

< EDIT > The SSD you put into the 2011 models are 2.5, which can be reused in external speakers if the 2011 becomes unsustainable future (could happen).  So the SSD is definitely NOT a waste of money.

  • For Kernel Panic - random reboots crash report

My MacBook Pro restarts randomly.  It seems to happen more frequently when you use Google Chrome, but it is unpredictable.

He started to arrive on the Mavericks, so I upgraded to Yosemite (10.10.3), but he always kept doing.  I've since upgraded to 10.10.5 and have tried resetting the PRAM.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled Chrome. I don't have Chrome Remote Desktop or Launcher applications installed Chrome.

This is the type of screen, I see before it restarts:

No idea what means the report of kernel panic above or which could cause spontaneous reboot?  Thank you!!

I tried booting in Verbose mode, but it scrolls too fast to see what he says.  About Yosemite which stores anywhere?  I couldn't find in the Console.

This kind of panic is often caused by a fault memory.

According to the specificationsof Apple, your model may use a maximum of 8 GB of memory, but you have installed 16 GB. The results are unpredictable. The Manual of the product gives instructions for adding memory to spare that read something like this:

You can add both modules of memory of 4 GB for a maximum of 8 GB of memory.

I know that the RAM vendor indicates that the configuration of out-of-spec will work. If you accept this insurance, please ask the vendor for help in case of problems you have with it. Otherwise, reinstall the original brief, or new memory in accordance with the instructions from Apple.
