  Hello - I think I'm over my head here. I just bought the laptop 3452 Inspiron 14 model with 32GB of HDD MEM. I opened the back of the box, thinking it would be relatively easy to install a SOLID-STATE drive. However, I see is an empty slot for the HARD disk with no pins for the SSD to enter.   I am amazed how little information there is on the web about this: I bought this machine for the use of the lamp from my laptop main goes through a process of repair.

  A few days ago I started my Inspiron 2350 and the touch screen does not work.

  It doesn't seem to be a clear answer as to why it stopped working or a general framework that will allow me to fix it.

  In addition, under my current computer information / drivers, the computer does not recognize a touchscreen... that laugh because the monitor is attached to the base of the computer.

  If I had to guess, based on the horrible criticism from Windows, I'm sure something is automatically updated to Windows and launched. I am currently operating on 8.1 - and since I out took it of the box three months ago. This problem started last week.

  I'm having exactly the same issues over the past months... In my opinion, to do with automatic shutter windows 8.1 update as well. I have re-installed to make the adjustment and then touch screen reworked. Then windows update automatic, touch has stopped working again. Repetitive cycles, it seems that Dell could not have intended to solve this problem at all. The last pilot patch file was last year... they never update it... I remember my first PC of Intel4 Dell, purchased at the College; She was flawed with driver problems through my 4 years in College; completely lost my parent$ 1700, ten years ago... I do not understand how my wife of Mac user to make me buy another dell again (because I told him I'm a PC person?) ... my final solution can be... support of stop 1.) calling Dell technology, these people have probably even high school, 2) switch to Mac and never re-use a PC... 3.) oh, I sell my stock Dell too...   I followed the online instructions how to install the SSD for my MacBook Pro. I then rebooted by Mac in recovery mode and formatted the drive in Mac OS extended (journaled).   Any SSD with a box 2.5 "will be compatible with your MBP.  I recommend OWC SSD or critical based on my experience and other participants of CSA veterans.

  I found a few good SSD as the samsung 840 BX100 or critical, but I've also read several times that a ssd sata3 will use sata1 when installed on a sata2.

  And that is why it is better to install a sata2 ssd.

  IS that still the case today? Given that these messages are coming from 2013.

  Or is that I can put in an ssd sata3 and it will run on sata2?

  SATA III drives that use the Sandforce controller will come back to SATA I speed if installed on a computer that uses the Nvidia MCP79 SATA controller. Samsung does not Sandforce. My Macbook in early 2009 with a Samsung 840 (pre Evo, not Pro) negotiates the SSD SATA II speed, connected to the MCP79.  OWC also still sells SATA II disks, I have one in my late 2009 iMac. I chose this drive, even if it was more expensive because OWC insisted that my model should have the Nvidia controller but in reality it has controller Intel 5 series. I didn't take my iMac except more than once.
