SSD in my DV6 3216us?

I have an SSD laptop laying around.  I want to put in my laptop, but don't know if I can!  I think it can work in the slot of the wifi, but to share that I'm not sure!  All answers are appreciated!

Hello

No, my suggestion is to exchange the existing HARD drive and use the DDI on its place.

Kind regards.

Everything works fine and I bougth a different HD, this time with 1 TB... I saw that inside the bad HD, there are 3 partitions if im not wrong, they are called the 'System', other than "C:" and the third title of "RECOVERY." The question is:

How to 'transfer' as the old partitions to the new HD? How to back up the partition recovery in the right way, or at least the best way?

    Hello

Any good brand 2.5 inch SATA (II & III - two costumes) SSD can be put. If your SATA port is SATA-II, is no problem entering for type SATA - III SSD that are widely available on the market today. But your SSD would work in SATA-ii speeds only.

It is you Plug & Manual laptop links.

It's the SSD white paper for your model.

Your current HARD drive is a 2.5 inch SATA - II 500 GB 9.5 mm. Most SSDS are 7mm thick, but this would not be a problem because you're screwing on the hard drive carrier (Page 4-15 in the manual).

This video might help you identify the steps of replacement base, follow in any case the drive hard manual procedure R & R (Page 4-14 and 15 in the manual).

You can use the recovery discs that you have created to reinstall windows in the new SSD (can only work if the total capacity of SSD is at least the total sie of the HARD original supplied with your laptop - 500 gb disk)

You can also try clean install with Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 ISO.  Additional drivers for your model are here & if he asks for all SATA drivers, just try what I posted here - download, save & copy on a USB plug during & after installing Windows 7.

You need to maybe for Quick format & initialize, give SSDS a drive letter to connect it to another PC via SATA USB adapter, using Windows disk management tool before the clean install.

I just put a 840 EVO 250 GB Samsung in a HP Envy m6. Without checking, I am almost sure that your machine supports SATA III, no new laptops will not have that. Even if he has not a SATA SSD will work with SATA or SATA II even I have.

You reason that 2.5 "is what you need. One thing to check is if your machine is really thin it may need a smaller height z. Some readers are 9.5 mm high (especially mechanical) and some are 7 mm. I know that the Samsung drives are 7mm while a former 520 Intel, I bought was 9.5 mm.

As far as I know, there should be no maximum size that would support the laptop. Given that 1 TB is the maximum size of 2.5 "SSD and I don't think that 2 TB will soon happen, you can get any size. The only reason why it would be same as a limit would be something artificial that HP has added as blocks of material that they use.

For ability, it depends on your needs. I have several computers and keep most of my media on USB 3 external drives and the main server that has a lot of disk space. If you plan on using this system and you want to download music, movies and images, you may want to look at 500 GB being the minimum. Hell, if your budget allows, you can enter a 750 GB Samsung SSD EVO for less than $400. While this seems like a lot, keep in mind that you can pass on to your next laptop, a desktop computer, or purchase a chassis and use it as an external USB drive in the future.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 1350us: dv6 1350us 240 GB SSD not recognized by BIOS ver F.41

    Hi all

I want to replace the stock 340 GB hard drive SATA with a 240GB SSD but the BIOS does not detect the SSD drive. Here are the specs:

HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook - dv6-1350us (Intel - Core 2 Duo)

    BIOS - Hewlett-Packard F.41, 12/11/2009

    SSD - Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB Model # MKNSSDCR240GB-DX

This laptop is currently in operation with no problems. It has been upgraded to Windows Pro 10 and all the latest updates installed - it's just very slooowly. The SSD, I try to use is checked 100% working. It detects and is accessible by other computers and works very well in a USB/SATA attached to this laptop docking bay. The SSD has been deleted, including the protected EFI & system partitions - IOW, it's completely empty - without walls.

I am capable of (old) drive image hard work and save it on an external USB drive. The image size is 110 GB and includes data, system and recovery partitions, so it fits on the SSD. When I install the SSD in the laptop there is no option to boot from it so I guess that it is not properly detected in the BIOS. Nevertheless, with the SSD installed, I can boot from a Windows 10 'repair DVD' and get to the point where he's ready to recreate the image. However, since the SSD is not detected in the BIOS, it just gives me an error and dumps me.

I want to update the BIOS to see if it helps but I can't launch the HP flash/upgrade BIOS updated SoftPaq (sp54629.exe) on Windows 10. I get a UAC error that says: this app has been blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked the delivery of this application...... sp54629.exe... Publisher: Not approved

My question: if I restore the old o/s Win7 (original) of the partition recovery and then run the update of the BIOS SoftPaq under Win7, it will allow the BIOS to see the SSD? I don't want to waste hours until I can be fairly certain that the problem will be solved by upgrading the BIOS.

    Thank you in advance!

Update: still no solution to this problem of HP. 5 hours wasted. Had to install temproarily old hard drive from the laptop in order to reinstall Win7, as well as all the crapware HP forces on us all, the recovery of the DVD because Firmware HP update software does not work with Win10 - THANKS HP! Anyway, it did not help the problem at all. In addition, I tried a SSD of SATA-III (Samsung) different with the same results. HP has to pay a bunch of 12 years to write BIOS of their laptops. Well, time to throw this laptop HP in the landfill. HP - never.

I understand that you have replaced your disk by a (fury of hyperX Kingston 240 GB) SSD and are able to install Windows, but not able to boot to it later. When I checked HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service of Guide, the Kingston drive is not part of the recommended replacements. That doesn't mean it won't work, only that it is not tested and the result is unknown. It may or may not work.  You can find this informative document. HP Notebook PC - Solid State Hard Drives. Hello

The following link shows the specifications of your computer:

It currently has 750 GB of HARD drive. You can replace it with 750 GB of SSD or larger (capacity). Why? It's much easier to reset to factory settings or clone the existing HARD drive. You can clone a smaller SSD but more work.

  • Installation Kit SSD instead of on DV6-6011TX DVD player

Can someone please make me if it is possible to replace the DVD drive on my DV6-6011TX with a SSD drive (+ kit to install)?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,

    Babur

Yes it is possible, but the interface to the optical drive is probably not as fast as SATA connections hard disk because it does not need to be. You would be much better to install the SSD as drive and put a standard mechanical spinner disc into the adapter of optical drive for storage purposes. Put an SSD in there is somewhat a waste.

Optical drive is 12.7 mm thick if you need this card:

    Hello

Yes. Samsung 850 Evo SSD is currently available in the market good.

You can either clone (using the Samsung migration tool or tools 3rd part), factory reset (with the support of HP recovery) or pure install (if you have the disc to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit, and you can clearly and legibly read all 25 characters of the activation key of the product to the rear of your laptop).

Move all your personal data on the external HARD disc before the cloning.

Probably not with a 2d gen i5 processor, but it does not matter. It will support an SSD SATA-III, even if the SSD transfer is limited to SATA-II. It will always be very, very fast and you will never see no practical difference. Download the SSD, you will not be sorry. Let us know if you need help most.
