SSD problem

I just bought a PC HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition laptop and I replaced a V300 Kinston 240 GB SSD, it works fine. But the speed is a little slow, reading is 182 GB/s, writing is 209 Gbps. I tried to change it to AHCI mode, but the BIOS disable these settings. Any suggustions?

I found the problem. Kingston used ATTO Disk Benchmark to test the drive, she reached over 500 MB/s reading and writing...

In any case, thanks for your help.

Compaq Presario CQ71, (model CQ71-317EA) portable system, Windows 7 family 64 - bit edition

Hi, I tried to upgrade the original 320 GB HDD to a 256 GB SSD.

After that replacement of the naked NTFS hard drive to SSD format, I tried to do a "factory restore" using the DVD, I created some time ago about recovery. The DVD started and recovery program ran very well, first menus for recovery/system control etc. The problem is that the program would not be allowed a resumption of the plant as the HDD was little different/more than the installed hard drive to factory.

This is the point I'm stuck at, I reassembled the original hard drive while I find a solution.

Is it possible to find a workaround to avoid having to order a new disc of Windows 7? Any help and advice in terms of simple-ish would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello:

If you can still read all 25 characters of the product key of W7 on the bottom of your laptop, you can make your own plain W7 x 64 Home Premium installation media and use the product key to activate the installation.

Download the applicable version of the W7 from the link below.  Use the SP1 media files regenerate.

Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file downloaded on a key USB 4 GB or DVD.  The tool will make the DVD or drive bootable flash as well.

  • mSATA and SSD problem

    Hey there,

    I use a HP Envy 17 3D 3000 with Win7 x 64 installed.

I have a Samsung 840 Pro SSD in my laptop since almost a year now with a 750 GB standard HARD drive and running Win7 build in HP, when I bought it. It works like charm and is nice and fast!

Yesterday, I bought a new mSATA (Samsung 840EVO mSATA, also 120 GB). But after I installed it, when starting my laptop, only the new SSD will be recognized in the BIOS eighter and later (I installed Win7 on it as well) he didn't show the mSATA and HARD drive, the old SSD.

How is that possible? I have tried both: install with mSATA SSD connected and also mSATA connected, out SSD and SSD in later once again - two results in without success.

    Where can I go wrong?

If I put the mSATA once again, my old SSD boots, so I put the mSATA in again once he starts there as default and SSD is completely ignored as if does not exist.

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

    vinc

.. .Although it seems a little strange! I left the mSATA again in a few days and used as normal and all of a sudden the laptop has recognized the other SSD as well, so now I could for a dual boot of mSATA SSD as I wanted.

Maybe someone can say for others who might encounter the same problem, why it's like this product?

  • Reference Dell inspiron 15z / win 8 / disk ssd problems

Well, tell me how it works,

I have dell inspiron 15z with 500 GB hard drive with laptop want to exchange it to 120 GB ssd, but I can't because no media to reinstall and the whole system is on hard Bank...

I tried to do with software usb recovery dell preinstaled originally, but when I start to install the ssd system it gives me the error message that the new hard disk must be at least 465 GB

I tried to copy the partition that I tried to do the recovery with another software image, it simply does not. When I tried to install win from another cd that he refuses the number series, even when I used the same version. instead of this test of dell to kill my mood why don't they have just not preparing the software backup and restore Dell to facilitate the use and for SSDS too?

I would gladly appreciate any help

    Hi Thomiq,

The backup and restore software would seek similar configuration during the restoration. If the hardware is changed the original image may not work.

At this point, I see that you will need the operating system disc to reinstall it on the SSD drive. • X61T, Support SATA-II, 150Mbps SSD problems

I bought a high speed of SSD (X 25 - M G2) for my Thinkpad X 61 Tablet with the hope of reaching a ultra fast and silent machine. I installed a new copy of Windows 7, with each firmware and drivers updated to the latest news releases... Unfortunately for X 61 Tablet support SATA-II has been capped at 150Mbps. Now performance my SSD is slightly better than a 7200 RPM HARD drive.

What I understand other discussions on this topic, is that Lenovo put this course intentionally artificial speed (while supporting material is here). Is this true? If so, it is totally unacceptable.

My X61T is a perfect tool for me and incomparable with its LCD high-resolution (1400 x 1050). If you upgrade to a mediocre 200 X, it just won't cut it. PDF documents appear as print (a 144dpi of resolution LCD screen), and I'm totally paperless now.

It is technically possible to raise this ceiling? If so, where can we write to Lenovo? Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Koray

Hi koray and welcome to the Lenovo user community!

This x6x topic has been discussed ad nauseam in various for a. Search and you will find discussions here and elsewhere that you can contribute to.

That said, I don't think its useful to start another thread on the subject, so I'm going to block it.

  • Satellite L50-A-1CU: new SSD not recognized if SATA is set to the performace

I changed the hard drive from my toshiba a-1-cu C50, with a 128 GB SSD 830.

This drive only set on the 'autonomy' work is not a 'performance '.
(In the performance of the modality, the Bios do not see, or seen once on ten of system startup.)

This settings in Bios called sometimes "interfaces sata".

    The performances are a quarter more slow (125 MB/s vs. 500 mb/s).

The hard drive has the latest firmware available.

There is a solution to finally put on the "performance"?

    Hello

Indeed, it is very strange question

However, it would be interesting to know if this BIOS <–>recognition SSD problem appears with the other SSD drives. Have you tested other SSD?

Otherwise, I think that if this problem would appear with different disc SSD, the BIOS may not be not entirely compatible with various SSD.

  • HP envy 17-1011nr ssd upgrade broke boot

Has problems from the heat with my HP Envy 17-1011NR.  I replaced the thermal paste to the heatsink with Arctic Silver 5 and I got a relief of the stops that I had to follow closely to cook them.  I slowed down the clock and I was now running quite hot and rather very hot.  I was also running quite slow.  I tried a can of air compressed on the fins of the heat (sprayed into the vents) and that helped a lot (fast, cheap and efficient).  I can now run quite hot full clock speed with an occasional burst of tablets to empty the dust (it wasn't clear the dust bunnies inside but it makes a big difference).  Finally, I decided to see if I could still lower power and temperature while increasing speeds and prolongs the useful life using SSDS.

I bought two Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB drives.  Given that HP has a distribution not supported by Samsung disk copy, I used Clonezilla instead.  I chose the advanced option to extend partitions proportionally so that the disc can be consumed without creating more partitions. The SSD was mounted via a USB adapter. With projects out me to work, I returned home tired to run the next steps in cloning and go to bed. Wake up and do a little more and finish in the next few days.  Serious mistake.

When hard drives were copied, I shutdown and replace them with the SSD and started.  No operating system found.  Then I handed the hard drives and booted.  No operating system is found.  Never had a problem with Clonezilla before (but I was generally cool when you use).  Using the USB adapter I checked the hard drives and SSD on another system and they were very good, then the copied data and the partition table is good; I can't just start readers.  I suspect that Windows 7 is good, except to get started.  I have this whole system label and Clonezilla gave me the serial numbers that I wrote it down at the time when the readers would not mix between primary (boot) and secondary (not bootable). But of course something is not so everything is suspect until proven otherwise.

So now I want to know what is the recommended method for moving forward, risking the least amount of content in the car.  What is the recommended sequence of tools to try and damage each will make to the contents of the disc?  I would actually get running on the SSD, but it is usually easier to solve a problem at a time.

All HDD and SSD problems solved.  (1) removed SSD drives and reinstalled two HARD disk drives.  (2) started repair disc (DVD), I've created many many moons ago.  Removed the ERD and restarted.  HARD drive works.  (3) judgment, secondary secondary HDD and SSD.  Started and the driver has been installed automatically.  (4) stop, primary primary HDD and SSD.  Started from the new ERD.  Removed the ERD and restarted.  Œuvres of the SDS.  Now running on the the two SSD drives.

The heat is lower, the speed is faster (boot is incredibly fast), more disk space and wait this will prolong the life of this computer by years.  Also, will not have to buy new software for a new computer for a while so the upgrade is very useful.  To give you an idea of the speed, I run treesize on drive C (151 GB used) which took about 2 minutes, but on the SSD with the same data, it took 14 seconds.  TreeSize is a tool to question the use of the disc by tree and is recommended if you want to know quickly where your disk space has gone.

  • Long boot time and the gel boot drive selection window

Hello. I have a problem with my MacBook Pro 13 retina "(2015 at the beginning).

My mac is about 4 minutes of cranking up about a quarter of the time and it is not related to the problem of the "boot disk select parameters. The computer just hangs before it's anything related to the start-up procedure. It's just a black screen with no interaction with the mouse, no noise and no keyboard input. It does not recognize the 'option key ' (used to get into the disk boot selector) until I pressed it for several minutes, and then the boot drive selector freezes as well.

I don't have any external drives connected, and already tried SMC reset, reset the PRAM and reinstalling the operating system (normal wipe and wipe any partition).

I always have Apple Care left. Help, please. Thank you.

    Hi Herojeff02:

It seems that you have some SSD problems.

Have you tried to boot safe mode. Try safe mode if your Mac does not commissioning - Apple Support

You can start in recovery mode by pressing command + R and then using disk utility to check your SSD.

See the following links: OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support

Resolve startup issues and perform maintenance on disk with disk utility and fsck - Apple Support

If you have Apple Care, I'd do an appointment at the Genius Bar. It could also be a hardware problem.

  • former owner still in system

    Hello world

I got a SSD problem earlier which resulted in having to install a new SSD. like normal ppl, I just saved on an external HD when I registered the new SSD, I put my info and myself as an administrator, however, on the old system, there was a different owner, and when everything was restored on my machine these data or information obtained in the new system, for example, in certain situations, the previous owner admin "privileges" still visible , and I think it's playing with my computer. someone has any idea how to remove all traces of the former owner of my computer?

    Thanks in advance

Wipe the drive and reinstall the original OSX.  Then the MBP is registered in your name with your Apple; ID

  • EliteBook 8640p does not start after replacing hard drive with a 128 GB crucial disc M4

    Hi all

This morning I was not in box a new Elitebook 8640 p and instantly replaced the hard drive with a new 128 GB crucial disc M4.

Machine installation installation clean Windows, restarted etc. I then installed the drivers, restarted etc. Have a windows index score and I was immediately impressed by the 7.9, but...

The laptop won't start. Right after that the first portable screens it just stops at a black screen where it should show the logo "windows". I put the original hard drive in and the machine starts very well and I put the M4 in my office and it begins to start.

It seems so the reader is fine and the laptop is fine, but the whole... Nope.

Any suggestions?  (I want to send them both back after spending this money a lot of things should work like clockwork)

Solution: It seems that Crucial screwed up again

  • connection with a 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD HD problems

I recently bought 4 Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSDS that are recommended by Convergent design to be used with an Odyssey 7 q + VCR. In order to get the images on the timeline of Final Cut, I put on a SATA Adapter USB 3 SSD drives (mine is powered) and use software, once the disc appears on the Finder. Problem is that none of these Samsung 850 EVO appear on the finder. I checked my SATA USB adapter by plugging another brand of SSD drive. It works perfectly.

Could someone help me with this issue? With a price of around $450, I don't really want these SSD drives to put useless due to a problem of Apple...

I even tried to force allow the filling with this command: 'sudo trimforce enable', not work.

  • Samsung SSD upgrade problems

When I try to erase the SSD drive and format it for Mac the procedure fails:

I get: dismount disc, cannot write to the last block of the unit, failed...

I have a MBP end 2011 with El Captan freshly installed and the SSD is Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB.

I've seen a number of problems with the Samsung SSD on these forums.  My best advice is to contact the technical support of Samsung.  Unfortunately, some users responded that the support of Samsung was not very friendly.

My guess is that you may have a faulty SSD and try to return it if possible.

    Ciao.

  • Tecra S10 - problem upgrading to SSD Kingston

    Hello!
Tecra S10 - I am trying to upgrade HDD to Kingston SSD 128MD.

During the new installation of Windows 7-64 installer complains that there is no boot device valid to create the system partition, even if the disk is recognized. BIOS is later, I tried configuring IDE and AHCI.

Is there a problem of General compatibility with SSDS and the notebooks?
I noticed a similar problem with satellite A200.
    Thank you

    Hello

Have you checked if a firmware update is available and necessary?

  • Migrate SSDS to an another MBP - problem App Store now

    Hello

Scenario: first MBP 13 "early 2011, second MBP 13" mid-2012.

I had a little accident with a glass of orange juice and the 2011 MBP just next door. Say no more, it's a classic. I could get at least the SSD unscathed.

In any case, I got my hands on basically the same model MBP. It is just over a year the most recent. I like to use the 500 GB SSD with El Capitan and bootcamped Win10 of the MBP 2011 as I just swapped it with the HD to MBP 2012.

So far so good. Double it starts perfectly and everything seems to work except the App store. I checked everything suggested for the "cannot connect to the App store" problem, but none of them worked, terminal settings, Keychain, time hacks etc etc. I guess it has something to do with the fact that the SSD is still material information of MBP, 2011 somewhere and now that it's running on a different model (very slightly) I'm stuck on the App Store. Of course, I am the legal owner of these two Mbps.

I would be very grateful for any hint how to get around this, even with a terminal hack. I have no time to reinstall. I need the SSD to stay the main system disk where a moment computer migration is no option.
