Why my computer constantly goes into hibernation?
Hi all ~
Recently, I noticed that my computer goes into hibernation by itself when not used for a period of time. I confirmed that my power settings dictate this behavior so that plugged in or on battery power.Instances that I noticed this, mainly, in mode "sleep" overnight and although slow, act as a "wireless card" for my personal router. When this happens, it is not hot or lack of power, he is simply there. I can't find a scheduled task so it hibernates, or an action to be left in standby mode or has been inactive for a while.I am really confused and would like if someone could provide an answer, or make me on the right track at least! Please help, because it becomes very annoying.Thank you-Crip.Summary and things to know:My computer into hibernation by itself, is not a scheduled task so it hibernates, it is not any form of action in my settings to be able to dictate the hibernation, it hibernates generally with more than 90% of battery remaining power and is never hot when it enters this mode.My computer is a portable set of bridge NOT running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium OS.Hello Richter,

Evertime I stop the M10 Pro Satellite goes into hibernation
Hello
I had one laptop Satellite Pro M10 for awhile now, I recently had to rebuild. I know I have the driver correct graphivs installed etc. Evertime I stop the machine, he goes to Hibernation... I'm at a loss as to wht is the cause.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello
You intervene on the XP or Vista operating system
Hibernation has been put on the default Vista. If you really want to stop the laptop with Vista you choose explicitly. The XP operating system should stop correctly. If you choose the option stops the laptop to turn off.
Are you sure that you have chosen the right closure option.
Sometimes, these options can be confues. -

Don t know what s coming, but you can try to update BIOS! But ensure that you use a good!
If the problem persists and the laptop overheats after updating the BIOS then you should really contact the ASP in your country. I presume that the guarantee is valid because the P100 is a new unit. That is why everything has to be done for free.Good luck buddy

When you wake up you can't print anything until it reinstalls the drivers. Sometimes, it is not automatic, that it will install the printer and drivers so I have to turn off the printer and turn it back on so it can recognize it. It does not uninstall the printer and the driver when it is turned off and turned back on just at the moment where it goes into hibernation mode.
Hi SFinOK,
The best way to solve this problem is to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack. If there is a reason why you are unable to install the latest Windows Vista service pack, the best thing is to get the fix that is mentioned in Microsoft KB 929734article.

Run the script automatically when Windows goes into hibernation or wakes up?
Hello
I use the group policy feature in Windows XP to run scripts automatically when you open a session or logoff.
But it is also possible to make a script run automatically, whenever a Windows-xp machine is about to Hibernate? And also when it wakes up from hibernation?
The clues how to proceed?
A funny hibernation is that if you put into hibernation and power then upwards and don't 'do' nothing - like press a key or move the mouse (just to sit and watch), in 300 seconds (5 minutes), XP will go back into Hibernation automatically. Try it!
XP does because after it comes out of Hibernation, if XP detects that there is nothing to 'do', he thinks he might be from Hibernation by accident and goes back to "sleep" and said "why you wake me up?
That's why when people hibernate during the night and their machine turn on the morning he wakes up, they make their coffee or breakfast and return later to see that they have the power of their machine again. If they think something is wrong, but things are working as expected.
One way to fix this, is to use a third-party tool that uses the command line to simulate a mouse movement. It is enough to prevent the rehibernating while you are on XP.
To simulate a movement of the mouse as soon as your system is equipped with Hibernation, you will need to download the nircmd.exe file.
There are many other utilities of vouchers on NirSoft main page:
http://www.NirSoft.NET/To simulate the movement of the mouse, download the file nircmd.exe here
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/nircmd2.html
Put the nircmd.exe file in a folder which is somewhere in your path (c:\windows\system32, etc.) or consult the path in your command file. I put the nircmd.exe file in my c:\tools folder where I keep other things.
If you do not have Hibernate enabled in your Power Options, tab hibernation, it will put your system on Stand-By instead of Hibernation.
Create a batch file (I called mine hibernate.bat and put the nircmd.exe in my c:\tools folder) and put this line in your hibernate.bat file:
off @echo
Powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState c:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Hibernate
c:\tools\nircmd.exe 10 10 movecursor
movecursor-10 c:\tools\nircmd.exe - 10Save the new file hibernate.bat on your desktop or somewhere, you can retain and double-click it to run the batch file. When you are sure that it works very well, and then drag the new desktop icon to your quick launch area (to the right of the button start), change the icon, rename, etc, so it looks a bit better and then you can click on new quick launch when icon to call the file hibernate.bat. Now just remember to use the hibernate.bat file (which could be on your desktop with a nice icon) instead of the menu to turn off the computer.
The first command will put the system into hibernation, and then when XP comes from hibernation (even days later), run the following commands in the batch file. These last two commands will simulate a slight mouse movement and who will deceive XP into thinking there is a reason to get out of hibernation and it will not go back to sleep. Then when you come back from your coffee, your system is always waiting for you.
If your case, your hibernate.bat might look something like:
off @echo
order 1 run before hibernation
2 run before hibernation command
order 3 to run before hibernationPowrprof.dll, SetSuspendState c:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Hibernate
order 4 to run when coming out of hibernation
command 5 to run when coming out of hibernation
order 6 to run when coming out of hibernation -
Quick start with the hibernation problems
My HP Mini 5103 has been upgraded to Win7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro
Hibernate worked very well under Win7HP
Now, with the fast start enabled, hibernate doesn't work anymore. Instead, the screen goes to the lock screen. Finally, the screen goes black but the PC is still on (the fan is running, keyboard lights, occasional hard disk activity). Touch any key immediately goes to the logon screen.
I can't even shut down the PC in this configuration. The screen displays 'Shutting Down' for a few seconds, then switches again to the lock screen (in the same way as if hibernate was requested above).
Once the quick start is disabled, Shut Down works as before, but one of the big advantages of Windows 8 is supposed to be the quick start, it is a big disappointment.
The problem seems to be with the Hibernate, function because quick start use hiberfil.sys, and for some reason, the PC is so more able to access hiberfil.sys in the process of closing.
Is this a bug? Or is it possible to fix it?
I checked using "powercfg / has" from the command prompt and the Hibernate implementation is listed as available, so is quick start as well as hybrid sleep and standby (S3). The hiberfil.sys file is correctly located in C:\
Sleep works correctly.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Some additional info:
Looking at the event viewer immdeiately after trying Hibernate (and failing) reveals that an event ID 45 was met by the volmgr, with the detailed diagnostic report:
"The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver."
I then checked the key of registry HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Crashconrol/DumpFilters who listed OK so presumably SbHiber.sys and dumpfve.sys, both apparently of Microspft.
That's exactly what happened to me and a colleague. However, I think that you're wrong about SbHiber.sys - at least in my case (and my colleague) SbHiber.sys was McAfee that has been uninstalled when you use Windows 7, but the uninstall program did not remove the reference. As a result, SbHiber.sys could not load, causing the VolMgr event on starup.
We have removed the reference SbHiber.sys of the key of registry HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Crashconrol/DumpFilters (simply delete 'sbhiber.sys' and leave the other text in the value of the key) and re-activated hibernation and quick start, our problem with the two missing.
I hope this helps someone else, ' cos it drove me crazy. I hated having not standby extended!

First of all this is not serious if the lid is closed or not a fact is important: notebook is set into hibernation mode and wakes up if USB mouse is moved
Is the BIOS contains a few options Wake Up, you should check the settings of the BIOS as Wake Up on LAN, Wake up on keyboard etc. turn off these options, save changes and check how it works

HP Pavilion dv6 - 2151cl goes into Hibernation Mode after several hours in Standby Mode
Hello
Generally, I leave my laptop plugged in and Standby Mode when I don't use it. I noticed, after several hours (12?), that the power led has stopped flashing. When I press the power button, it starts as if awakening from Hibernation Mode. I am using the recommended HP Power Plan but can't find any option to explain what is happening. Is there a way to avoid change of Mode of Hibernation of Standby Mode?
TIA
Hey noahrhys,
Don't worry - this is normal default behaivor to save energy. It is fully configurable! You can adjust it never Hibernate mode or hibernate after a longer time - whoever you want - all while keeping the mode 'sleep'.
Here is how to adjust this setting (assuming you are running Windows Vista or 7):
- Near the clock on the bottom right, right click on the battery icon.
- Click on "Power Options" and a new window will open.
- Next to the selected power management, click on "change plan settings".
- In this new screen, click "change power avancΘs."
- Look around until you find the category of 'Sleep' and expand by clicking on the + next to him.
- Find the "Hibernate after" category and expand it by clicking on the + sign next to it.
- Adapt these 2 values (on battery and sector) to one that you would like (type in the minutes). You can also type zero (0) to disable Hibernate completely.

Computer goes into hibernation during defragmentation
It's completely baffling to me. I have a desktop PC Windows 7 I tried to defrag for quite awhile. No matter what I put in the power options to disable computer locking settings, the computer will still mode "sleep" during defragmentation. I tried to Defrag in safe mode, and he still goes to sleep after about 5 min.
I created a new plan of power with the following parameters.
Turn off the display: never
Put the computer to sleep: never
Advanced settings:
Require a password on wakeup: No.
Turn off hard disk after: never
Background settings screen:
Slide show: available
Setting the wireless adapter:
Energy savings mode: maximum performance
Sleep:
Sleep after: never
Allow hybrid sleep: Off
Hibernate after: never
Allow the wake timers: activate
The USB settings:
USB selective suspend setting: enabled
Start button / stop and the lid:
The power button action: Shut Down
Sleep button action: do nothing
PCI Express:
Link state power management: Off
Processor power management
The minimum processor state: 100%
Political system of cooling: Active
The maximum processor state: 100%
Display:
Turn off the display after: never
Multimedia settings:
When media sharing: avoid sleeping the idling
During video playback: video quality
Internet Explorer:
JavaScript clock frequency: maximum performance
It's really a step backward compared to XP. I never had this problem. I hope someone can help.
Try powercfg - qh > PowerSettings.txt for a list full of properties that Windows think you set [as opposed to those that you set in fact].
Analysis of the output is a bit tedious.
