• Home page keeps changing start.search

  This morning my homepage in FF and IE are passed to start.search.us.com. I managed to uninstall start.search (use Revo Uninstaller; it does not appear in Control Panel of configuration/programs). I was able to change my home page in Internet Explorer to what I want and it seems to "stick". But whenever I restart FF home page I had previously put switches back to start.us. I can find no evidence of start.search in Add-ons, Extensions etc. I think I know where it came from - I clicked a little too fast on some free software and spotted the search thing too late.   I've solved this problem a few minutes ago. It had nothing to do with Internet Options. What I did:
  Start, "Folder Options".
  @ "Click items as follows", I chose "click to OPEN AN ITEM UNIQUE", and "UNDERLIND ICON TITLES ONLY WHEN I POINT AT THEM".

  This removed the underlining of the search results, but it made me click ONCE to open the folders. I didn't, so I restored the settings "double-click TO OPEN AN ITEM.

  And underscores no longer appear.

  I'm an advanced user but not a pro. I did it and the user support, I'm building my own PC, I have owned them for adults 20 years of age and I am a computer science major. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with advanced Windows troubleshooting, I use usually just Google and a few tried and true solutions to the difficulty of the PC of the user. I never did anything with the Windows log files, and I'm not anywhere near MCSE, obviously.
