Start the portable system

My HP Pavilion laptop I bought last week takes longer than 3 minutes to start up the newspaper on the menu Windows 8.1.  Is this normal.  I thought that modern laptops and windows 8.1 was supposed to start more quickly than older operating systems.

Hello

Looking at the specifications, the only part that may slow down the boot would be the HARD drive. It's a 1 TB drive 5400 RPM, which is the slowest speed. Startup speed I achieve, is with an SSD. With this player (specifically if there is a good amount of starting applications/services), it can take a little too start even with Windows 8. It will be a factor in the slow start ups, you have. The RAM and the processor are very well, you would achieve less than a minute in the start-up of speeds with better training.

If you have not yet, try the clean boot of my first post. As mentioned that this can help increase the speed. I don't expect this phone to initiate in the range of seconds... but around a minute by pressing the power button to use should be possible.

    Hello

    You are able to access the advanced boot menu by pressing F8 while turning on the unit?

    If you are able to do so, you should try to start the computer using one of the advanced options available in the start menu.

    You can try to start the laptop computer using the last known good configuration or you can try to repair the system by automatically selecting the repair my computer option, you can try to start the machine in safe mode to access important data on the HARD drive.

    Finally (after data backup) I would recommend to recover the laptop using the Toshiba recovery media

  • Remove windows vista without starting the operating system

    Hello! IAM using windows vista. Lately, I just figured that the computer has the virus iam so think upgrade to windows7 and I want to remove vista first. Is it possible to remove vista without starting? Sombody help please! Thank you!

    Hello

    1. you must have an operating system to be upgraded; in your case vista

    You cannot delete vista

    2. an upgrade is performed from an operating system of windows in your vista case, unless microsoft advises otherwise; does not apply in your case

    solve your problem of malware or clean reinstall vista 1st - then upgrade

    Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

    You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

    If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

    Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

    they do it for a nominal cost of $

    also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

    you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

    Ask them of the exact key sequence

    or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

    Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

    they contain all versions of vista

  • Y at - it a startup of microsoft for windows vista premium disc which is downloadable on a computer to start the operating system when the HD does not start

    Since 2007, I have packard bell computer pc laptop. He came with a recovery or a bootable disc, but the genuine license is stuck under the machine. After System Restore today and a computer virus scan went to a reboot. But a black screen with the boot failure lights. I am unable to go to safemode, viaF8 or something else. He invites me to insert the recovery disk. What I can do besides take it to the seller. I have another laptop using windows vista can I create a recovery or startup disk that is compatible with this laptop. Waiting for your kind response

    NeoSmart is a very good drive to do a Startup Repair with.

    BUT it will not reinstall your operating system.

    For this, you need your computer manufacturer's recovery disks, or use a built-in recovery Partition.

    Read this info below:

    How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    I work in 11.1.2.1 in a distributed environment. When I click on the 'Start EPM System' shortcut in the menu programs, it starts only local services and not the services on the other two servers. I have some other problems with the environment, and I wonder if something prevents all services in the distributed environment to start.

    So I guess the question is: is this shortcut to start all services in a distributed environment? In other environments for the same customer, seems to be the case.

    Thanks for your time.

    Update does not normally solve the problems.

    Hello

    > Laptop computer just turn off after a few minutes of work.
    > Then I format C with Windows XP Pro, but it turns off as before.

    I think this sentence is the key description resembles your laptop could overheat and automatically stops.
    Why is this happening? Well, the laptop could overheat temperature high inside the laptop. It will stop automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

    My long experience, a clogged cooling fans could be responsible for the bad cooling and the temperature high.

    So what to do?  :|
    In my opinion, he must clean the fans to get rid of dust and debris.

    The jet of compressed air is very useful tool and could help you to clean the fans.

    Hope this helps to get the laptop running.

    I have Vista with my dell desktop computer.  I guess I got a virus that has deleted/messed my main hard drive.  All of sudden my computer was dead and when I try to restart, I found I can't boot the system.  I loaded the DVD for the resettlement of Dell to come with the computer and try to install it.  But it shows "Disk 0 unallocated space" with 222 GB and 'Disk 0 Partition 2 Recovery' with 10 GB.  I could not install Vista on the first, as it says "Windows must be installed on a partition formatted in NTFS.

    Any help is very welcome!

    http://support.Dell.com/

    Problem with the recovery process, contact Dell at the link above.

    It's recovery process from Dell, NOT Microsoft.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try this to save your data:
    Data recovery:
    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
