State of the hard drive, the 'Frozen' value in the bios, no registered password?

My ACER Aspire 5733 shows the HARD drive as 'Frozen' in the bios and, of course, does not start to her.

There is no administrator password or user saved, but it shows the HARD drive as "Frozen" in the security of the bios screen.

If I take the drive hard on and restart, it is not, as planned, when I put it in, reboot, go directly to the bios, it now shows the status of the HDD as "Clear" as the other password two States. BUT if I then reboot, instead of from Windows, it shows no bootable devices. Then when I check again the bios, the State of the hard drive is back in '' Frozen '' and two other passwords are always 'Clear' as before.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I tried a few reboots, and even with another hard drive installed, he always does this.

I have corrected it.

He kept returning to the State of 'Frozen' on the hard drive even after the recommended Acer fix found here:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32674/~/bios-password-frozen#_ga=1.262809484.160920...

After trying the procedure, he always returned to '' Frozen '' on the first restart during the installation of Windows.

So what I did that.

When I came back to the State where all three passwords security read "Claire", for the very next reboot, I updated the bios to the latest version. I used the pure BACK method.

After stopping when the bios update has been done, the 'Clair' State was still intact. I * think * rest of the State of "Clear", as long that you go directly into the bios after that, and the problem was that it was not saved when you plan does not directly in the bios. On the next reboot after update bios, I started to install windows and THIS time after update BIOS, the first reboot during windows installation has NOT led to a State "Frozen" hard drive.

So I think there may be a bug in the bios of last second for this camera, because it doesn't seem to be able to actually save the State of the hard drive correctly password.

  • Help with the Bios Reset Service password

I am trying to use the Bios password reset Service to power on password and HDD password. The current Bios setting is "enabled, current". Sidebar using Bios tells me that in order to complete the registration to this function to open the application to create a recovery media and "follow the instructions. I'm lost, there is nothing on the password reset Service. I have already created recovery disks and even a rescue Media disk.

I found that in the application Client Security Solution, on the Advanced tab, there is a "Hardware Setup Password Reset" function, but it is grayed out!

As this function is available for selection in the Bios I wouldn't be able to use it?

I use the recovery feature of Windows password to logon to Client Security without any problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!!

    BIOS installed: 7LETC5WW (2.25 - 1, 08) Release Date: 08/01/2009

Version of client security Solution: 8.20.0023.00

PS. I will not bypass any password, I want to just activate the hardware password recovery feature in case I need it ever.

    UPDATE:
In case anyone cares, I have finally found a way to activate hardware password reset in my T61. Here is the solution, at least in my case:

    (1) found the file in Program Files-> Lenovo-> Client Security Solution-> HwPwReset.exe

    (2) run the file and follow the instructions

    (3) a "secure" environment has been created in the hard drive and restarting the laptop

    (4) the laptop started in the secure environment where I was asked to establish 3 security questions and answers.

    (5) restarting the laptop and the status of password in BIOS reset changed on registered.

Now, if I ever forget the market Hardrive words of past or all I have to do is press F12 at startup, select password reset option of going, meet my security questions and voila, passwords are reset or deleted. Very well!

BTW, I called Lenovo support twice and after talking to 3 "technicians" and a supervisor, they had no clue on how to do it. Go figure!

    Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

    Hello world.

I am currently trying to install a new HARD drive in my notebook of 1800-712.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to make it all works?

    THX, Philippe

    Hello

This device was shipped with 20 GB HARD drive.
    You again is 40 GB.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive because of the size.

  • SMART short self-test - on the second hard drive

    HP Pavilion Elite e9270t - 3 yrs old, Win7.

Became the error SMART self-test short the original drive so I installed a replacement and transferred files.

I get the same error on the second h/d. I have my doubts that the second disk is having the exact same error and wonder if the s/w test is actually the problem.

It could very well be the connectors that gives you the question instead of the HARD drive itself. I would run the HARD drive test in BIOS instead of the short test.

    Try this:

    1. Plug the AC adapter into the computer if it is not already connected.
    2. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
    3. Press the power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.
    4. Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate the menu selection to find the Auto test primary hard drive option. Depending on your BIOS, it is under diagnoses or tools.
    5. Select self-test primary hard drive, and then press the Enter key to start the test.

Figure 1: Example of a primary hard disk self test screen

The hard drive self test performs a Quick Test , followed by a complete Test. During each test, the window displays a status bar and a scheduled for completion

Let me know the results of this test.

  • Cannot set the password for hard drive on the W530 with Intel SSD 520

    Hello

I have a w530 with an Intel SSD 520 in primary hard drive Bay. Whenever I try to set a password for the primary hard drive, it doesn't stick. If I chose master + user or simply user, I will enter the password, it will take the passwords without producing an error and then just dump back me to the screen of passwords while leaving the disabled hard drive password.

BIOS is on the latest version for the w530 and SSD, the machine seems fairly normally operate differently.

Does anyone have ideas how I can activate the password? Thank you!

    Hi, ctenorman

I did some research and came across this thread of Intel. There are a few people in the thread who were able to set the password on this particular drive. It seems that changing the BIOS "SATA" compatibility mode, set the password, restart, and then change it to "AHCI" worked for some, but not all customers with this player.

Good luck and let me know how it goes

  • Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6: need a new hard drive for the dv6-1230us

My question is about the HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6-1230us PC. Recently, it was abandoned, and since then it has been giving me the following message if poster every time it starts.

    Not found boot device

Please install an operating system on your hard drive.

    Hard Drisk (3F0)

    F2 System Diagnostics

"For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

I know it's important to run the hard drive test, but when I run the diagnostics of the system for the Test drive, it says:
    "HDD test failed.
    There is no hard drive.

I was also on the proposed site and even after "reset my BIOS to default", it recommends running the hard drive test, which does not simply because it has not really helped me the "there is no hard drive. There was a YouTube video that I came across thus suggested pulling the hard drive and diconnecting and reconnect to correct the error in this case that the son is detached, but that no longer works.

SO, I don't know if there is anything more that I can do, I guess that the hard drive is super dead.

It comes with a Seagate ATA hard drive. I was wondering if I could replace it with a SATA hard drive or should it be an ATA? (Even has the material capacity to support a SATA drive?)

Also, it is even useful to replace the hard drive? Should I get a new laptop instead? This laptop is used mainly for just browsing online and checking emails.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, the hard drive is so dead, that he not yet register as a hard drive. The dv6-1000 series certainly uses SATA, not ATA drives so I'm not sure of what you see. You can replace it with any drive SATA 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick.

Watch this video between: 53 and: 59 and see that it's a SATA drive. If yours is different, so you have confused with your model.

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=QQx7PlIXFuE

Hard disks are a small fraction of the cost of a laptop and if your what it takes to, I would say that to replace the hard drive rather than buy a new one.

It is an excellent drive at a great price:

  • My hard drive crashed and I need to reinstall XP PRO but my computer does not start on the CD

I went into the BIOS and changed to start from the windows xp pro disk but no matter if I put in the pro or the original disk, I get 'disk read error.  CTRL Alt Del to restart.  BIOS can see how much space is left on the hard drive, so it's there, and BIOS knows I want to boot from the installation disc, but it doesn't.  What I am doing wrong?

Hi Jade4142.Did try you go to BIOS and set it to the default settings and put the disc in, and then restart. There are many variables to a disc is loading. It could be the Platinum cd/dvd is defective, the disc is dirty, scratched or any black disc market. It you load on the HARD drive that crashed? If so, it could be that the HARD drive is infected? If this is a new HARD disk, you must leave the disconnected HARD drive, start the computer that lights up and looking for a hard drive. In this way the motherboard works independent of the HARD drive. The motherboard doesn't have a HARD drive to boot. Once you start without a HARD disk he won't say you no HARD drive or o/s found. Stop it. Connect the HARD drive for the sake of things a NEW HARD drive. Then start the unit go to BIOS and set to boot from the cd/dvd and then save and reboot. If the disc is genuine, and it's a new HARD drive, it should load without problems. He must ensure that the cd/dvd is above the machine to choose this path.click top and press the sign on your keyboard + and you'll see it move to the top of the list. If she is not at the top is not first in line to start. Just trying to help.
