Stay connected to Wifi

For some reason any 8.1 Windows on my Dell keeps down its WiFi connection when I leave the computer for a while.  Its perfectly OK while I'm working on it, but I know its advisable to leave the computer running all the time and so prolong his life, I don't want to keep closing and restarting.  Also of course, he stops to collect emails that is particularly annoying and I need to leave Outlook completely and restart the computer, or cross the network diagnostics so he can fix the problem of his own making.  I suspect that the computer and network card is configured to automatically close but I fear after Scouting around the Dell site the only instructions I can find to find and fix the problem with Windows 8.1 WiFi seem to be for a completely different operating system.

Ajer,

Try these tweaks...

Press the Windows key and the keys x at the same time, Panel, Manager of devices. Click Network and then right click on your network adapter, on the left, click on properties, power management. Uncheck the allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Go to the options power and changed the wireless adapter setting, adjustment of maximum power for maximum performance.

All of a sudden, we arrived at the cottage a day and my laptop wouldn't stay is no longer connected to wifi. I turned my laptop on / off power several times and nothing is fixing the issue. Thinking it was the wifi connection, I deleted it only to have it not even be able to connect in this respect more. This laptop is brand new and I'd hate to send it back because I am me such a lot on it and everything I wanted came with this laptop.

If I can't find the solution, I'll be forced to send it back and get a different brand.

Is there someone who is having the same problems as me?

    Hello @Jillybean124,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I read your post that your laptop HP 15 t is having a wireless connection issues and I wanted to join you.

Here is a list of steps that solve common problems with wireless connectivity.

First of all, we have a step by step guide to guide you through the process of diagnosis here:
Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access

A second option is to try the following steps:
    Powercycle the network:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Turn off the power to the adapter:
    1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
    2. expand the network adapters.
    3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down list in the upper right of the document.

Here's a tip for the user on the problems of Wi - Fi. Suggest from the top and bottom. Maybe one of them will help you.

    (1) perform a forced reboot: hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Leave the device to reboot.

    (2) resetting the network settings: settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Join the network again.

    (3) reboot router/Modem: unplug power for 2 minutes and reconnect. Update the Firmware on the router (support Web site of the manufacturer for a new FW check). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (recommended for 2.4 to 20 MHz bandwidth).

    (4) change of Google DNS: settings > Wi - Fi > click the network, delete all the numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or otherwise 8.8.4.4

    (5) disable the prioritization of device on the router if this feature is available. Also turn off all apps to VPN and retest the Wi - Fi.

    (6) determine if other wireless network devices work well (other iOS devices, Mac, PC).

    (7) try the device on another network, i.e., neighbors, the public coffee house, etc.

    (8) backup and restore the device using iTunes (ask for more details if you wish).

  • iPhone will not stay connected to the internet?

    * Posted on MacRumors forums but no answers *.

So basically since a few days my phone sometimes don't remain not connected to the internet network of BT-Hub3. I connect to it and then sometimes, it will stay connected for a minute for a few seconds and then disconnect. When I go to the wifi thing it seems available to connect to. After a couple of times that to happen, it will say wrong password (this is the password) and disconnect me and then I have to type the password. Repeat to infinity. It's honestly so frustrating.

Sometimes it will stay and be fine but his is happened twice in the last few days and never happened before with any phone I've had.

I try my phone with my BT-Hub4 internet network and it will stay connected. The only problem with this is that the internet is further (bottom), so has a low connection that does not charge anything unless I lean on my bed.

Initially, I assumed my internet pick, but I'm typing this I am connected to the network BT-Hub3 without disconnect him, even once.

I had the phone for a year and 2 months (previous owner had since October/November/December in the year of release) and recently got a replacement of the unofficial battery if this of any help. I also still have my phone on the low power mode. The phone always properly connect to the BT-Hub3 network even with unofficial battery and low power however mode.

I had several other problems with the phone (camera, apps download not heat no reason apparent, random battery drains despite the new battery in just 3 months and has the same problem with the battery, slow Touch ID that apparently is not normal), which most recently happened.

I had all the settings to reset a week or two ago but surely if who messed with my settings internet I would have had the internet issue earlier? Not sure if I should try to reset the network settings. I hate this and only do if I need to.

One last note, I have the latest version of iOS so ignore saying his 9.3.2 on

    Hi pinkdolphins0400,

Thanks for posting in the communities of Support from Apple! I understand that you are having problems with your iPhone does not stay connected to your internet connection at home. I use my home Wi - Fi network to stay connected, so I use all the cell data, if I can understand wanting to make sure that you are able to stay in touch. I am pleased to provide you with a few suggestions for you.

The first thing I recommend you do is follow the steps described in the following article. It seems that you have already experienced some of these steps, but I want to be sure that you have covered everything.

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connects to a Wi - Fi network

Since you mentioned that your iPhone will stay connected to your network to another, you can take a look at the network settings for the one that you are having problems staying connected to. Article below provides information about network configurations suggested for Apple devices. You can also check with the manufacturer for your BT 3 - Hub see if there are updates that must be performed. This can cause problems with disconnects.

Recommended settings for the WiFi routers and access points

For other problems you mentioned (apps do not download, camera, battery draining, contact ID, etc.) reset settings was a big step in troubleshooting to try. If these things are always happening, I recommend making a backup of your iPhone and then restore it via iTunes. The backup will ensure that your data is saved. When you perform the restore via iTunes, you'll want to set up as a new device (temporarily), and then test it. Once you test, you can try to restore your backup. You can find all of the information below, you will need.

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings

is there an option to stay connected to the wifi mode 'sleep'?

Not in OS X. You can search for a third-party utility to help you, but I don't remember any. A WiFi sleeps in order to preserve the battery life because the WiFi consumes a lot of battery if left running when not used.

  • Always send/receive texts even if my data is turned off (and I am not connected to wifi)?

I'll be getting an iPhone 6 s at the end of next month. 64 GB with 3 concert data (it's cheaper for me to upgrade and stay on the plan from my parents as it is for me to make my own plan). In terms of my parents, I already have a plan of SMS and minutes for my current phone (a cursor). The 6s be my first official smartphone. There is already a plan of texting in place, and the extra thing only reason I pay is the data plan.

But I was just wondering (and I know it's a stupid question)... can I still send/receive text messages as I would with a smartphone not (and make calls and others), even if I have my data off AND I am NOT connected to wifi?

    Yes.

SMS text messages using your cellular operator's voice communication channels.  They do not use the data.

However, if you use iMessage, who would use the data.  So keep that off.

  • Problem to stay connected to the internet through the wireless router.

I'm having a strange problem.  My computer will stay connected wireless for anywhere between 2-30 minutes before losing connectivity.  However, it works when I plug it into the router, which is what I'm doing now.  I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate the problem, but it has not changed.  Usually, once it shuts down it will stay off until I have change the frequency of router or something.  Reset the router works every time some time, but nothing is definitely the problem.

I disabled ipv6, reset the router, update windows, restarted several times that I have unplugged router and modem, reconfigured frequency channel of the router, among other things.

It must be a problem with my computer because my roommate both have computers that are working properly.  In addition, it is a relatively new problem.  I've had my computer for a few months now and it has worked well up until that 2 days ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

  • Atheros 5007 won't stay connected to the Netgear WNR3500 router internal wireless

I just bought a new laptop Compaq CQ60-420us (nw156ua) a week ago. Machine comes with Vista Home Premium and I installed Win7 rc1 64 on another partition.

Initially I could not it remains connected to my router for more than 15 minutes approximately. I just press the wireless button to turn it off and turn it back on. Who would fix it for about 15 minutes.

I called HP support, they tried many things including for me to do a factory restore.  They finally decide to send me a new wireless card. I received the new card yesterday, had it installed and it is essential to do the same thing. Last night, I dug an older linksys wireless router that I have used in the past. Hooked upward and the laptop stays connected to her very well. I had the wpa security enabled on the linksys routers both netgear.

Then, I went to the netgear router and disabled security. It is very well connected. Not sure if wep security will allow him to work. I refuse to use just the wep security. It is easily hackable. And of course I will not let it be secure.

So it seems to be a compatibility issue between my router netgear wrn3500 and the atheros 5007 wireless card security. The router has the latest version of the installed software package.

I guess I'll call HP tonight and see if they can send me a different brand/model wireless card. All my other wireless devices work fine with this netgear router. I don't want to get rid of the cause of netgear, this is a gigabit & Wireless N router.

Does anyone know of any other mini pci express card that works with my laptop? I would get a card N. I thought maybe the intel wifi link 5100 card. Not sure if those who are compatible with HP or not.

    Thank you!

When I called HP back support, they were completely useless. Everything I tried to ask them is if they could just give me a list of wireless pci-express cards that would be compatible with my laptop. They did not understand my problem and could not give me a list. I wanted to the list because I read several times that HP has a 'white list' cards that will work with their motherboards. If you put a card that isn't on the list you will receive a message to remove the card from the bios when you turn on the machine. I checked this by testing the intel 5100 card on my laptop and it gave me this message.

Oh btw, it's MUCH safer these days to update the bios of your computer, it was many years ago. I do all the time and have never had a 'brick' on me. Even safer on a laptop with a battery in good condition. In fact I recommend it as part of your troubleshooting process. That will not fix the problem tho atheros wireless.

However, in the end, I was able to operate pretty well no thanks to HP!

I had to buy another card Atheros tho. It was the 5009 Atheros. And it's a card N I so was able to get with my router N 300mbs speed!

I found it on ebay for about $25 plus delivery charges. Oh and these cards are VERY easy to replace. There is a door on the bottom of the laptop with a captive screw - remove the door, then another screw which holds the card down. 2 drivers who commit on the 2 connectors on the map - the map out on the right.

This card worked very well for me I highly recommend to solve the problem with shit card atheros 5007.

Unfortunately, my laptop was stolen 2 weeks ago! (it was only 2 months old!) Some loser scumbag broke in with me so that I was at work and stole my laptop and my LCD 24 ''!

I've had this laptop for $350 new Staples. I can't find a similar agreement now.

Don't know if I'll go with HP\Compaq after what I went through just to make it work wireless...

Operating system Windows 7 does not have drivers for the hardware of this unit. your office may be a little older had so drivers win7 disc itself. also windows 8 has most of the current hardware drivers, it works well too.

for win7 64-bit, you must download all the drivers from hp.com and install on your laptop.

    Here's the direct link...

Incase you have trouble in direct link, here are the steps to download drivers for your PC.

    Hello

Please visit www.hp.com/in and click on support & drivers > drivers & software > type the full model of your PC as the 6100 dv6 dv6-3100 etc... Select your computer model (if the list), or model CTO (for example, dv6-6100 CTO) (who works for the series) now select the operating system you are running. you have the list of drivers for your PC.

    Hello friends,

I would like to know if 2 Airport extreme or 1 Airport Extreme and Airport Express can stay connected to each other using LAN ports at the ends? I thought this is the LAN port 1 connected to the WAN port on the 2nd.

    Thank you

To clarify the issue and the scenario, one of my friend described a typical scenario in which there are 2 AEs. AE1 has an ISP in its port WAN and AE2 has a different ISP in its WAN port. This 2 AE can mutually connected between them by using ports LAN AE1 and AE2 ethernet cable? He said this could be feasible if AE2 remained in bridged mode, without using the ISP attached to its WAN port. I just don't get how this is possible. Friends of the search help.
