• How to use Data Guard with E-Business Suite

  I'm trying to get my head around how would you use Data Guard with E - Business Suite.

  I know that you can use only physical standby with EBS, however I have a few basic questions about specific values < SETTING > and how they are treated by a standby.

  Given that the standby and primary servers will have different host names and that generally there are < FRAME > specific values that include the hostname, where they will have to change on the standby server, both from the point of view of the battery backup Apps and within the standby database itself, I wondered how it would happen.

  Usually, EBS cloning process would change the < FRAME > target settings in the target apps stack and the target database (for example, parameters such as FND_NODES etc.).

  Q1. However I do not know how the process of cloning E - Biz would fit with a database of the day before?

  Q2. As the standby database won't even be in an open State, I don't know yet how you would apply a party any of the cloning process to a database of pending to the target?

  Q3. Even if you were able to change on the eve of the database to reflect the < FRAME > from backup server, it would mean surely it was more a physical copy of the primary database, that's why it would be more a day before.

  All a bit confusing - any clarification appreciated

• Database is configured for Data Guard

  I'm lance a UTF8 conversion on a development database, which has been cloned from Data Guard. There is a warning in the Migration status: "database is configured for Data Guard" which is looking at DMU to determine this? The database is opened in read-write mode and it behaves like a primary database (I have the MISP scanner and run updates to address representations not valid). I would like to know what I need to update the settings.

  This prevent me to convert tables using DEC? When I try to select this option for all tables I get the message, "CDS does not support conversion method"Copy data using CREATE TABLE AS SELECT"for tables that are involved in a process like capture Oracle Streams, or apply.". Another method of conversion available for the table.

  CDS checks if the DG_BROKER_START parameter is set to true.

  The problem with the ETG is independent of the Data Guard. The CDS is true for tables which:

  -are asynchronous stream capture source, or

  -update conflict managers have, or

  -DML managers have, or

  -conflict resolution settings have

  The above tables are considered to be configured for Oracle Streams and are not supported by the method of conversion of DEC. This is because the DEC method creates a copy converted the table and falls from the original. The CDS is not able to move the configuration information from the old table to the new flow.

• Cost for Data Guard

  Hello, we are running Oracle on a license of the company, running on Linux and Windows hosts. Can someone tell me if there is an extra charge for Data Guard? Thank you. P.S. I am a newbie.

  If you are using DataGuard, data pending is active and running and archived application papers (at least this is the case for 99% of the installation of the system). Under the terms of the current default value to the license agreement basis, I believe that this requires that sleep is allowed. If you copied everything simply newspapers archived on a standby server where Oracle has been installed, but never really ran, I think you can get away with not license that as soon as the day before was active within 10 days a year. Of course, when you do not want to activate it, you must wait for it to apply a bunch of do it again until he could be open to users. If you copied a new backup on the machine to sleep periodically, you can probably keep the number of archived logs that are to be applied to a reasonable level, but you pay of course with the inconvenience and additional scripts work rather than simply backup server licenses.

  Of course, it's one of those terms that are more likely to be the subject of negotiations. Especially if you have a credible alternative architecture that avoids the eve (a cluster, HACMP or Oracle FailSafe), you might well be able to get a break on licenses pending license.

  AFAIK, you don't need to have a separate license for Data Guard. However, I would say that you call your Oracle representative.

  Hi, I saw a couple of orders in regard to the purge archive records in a Data Guard configuration.

  Set UP the STRATEGY of SUPPRESSION of ARCHIVE to SHIPPED to All RELIEF;

  Set UP the STRATEGY of ARCHIVELOG DELETION to APPLIED on All RELIEF;

  Q1. The above only removes logs archiving to the primary or primary and Standby?

  Q2. If deletions above archive logs on the primary, is it really remove them (immediately) or does the FRA to delete if space is needed?

  I also saw

  CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO SAVED;

  Q3. That what precedes, and once again it is something that you re primary side?

  When CONFIGURE you a deletion policy, the configuration applies to all destinations archive

  including the flash recovery area. BACKUP - ENTRY DELETE and DELETE - ARCHIVELOG obey this configuration, like the flash recovery area.

  You can also CONFIGURE an archived redo log political suppression that newspapers are eligible for deletion only after being applied to or transferred to database backup destinations.

  Its a configuration, it will not erase by itself.

  If you want to use FRA for the automatic removal of the archivelogs on a database of physical before you do this:

  1. make sure that DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST is set to FRA - view parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST - and - setting DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE

  2. do you have political RMAN primary and Standby set - CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLY ON ALL STANDBY;

  If you want to keep archives more you can control how long keep logs by adjusting the size of the FRA

  I would never use it. I always had it put it this way:

  I would use only 'BACKED UP' for the data protection system. Usually it tell oracle how many times to back up before removing.

  I think cron is still, but they all work. I like cron because the database has a problem at work always reports its results.

  Summary

  Always use a database with RMAN catalog.

  Always use CRF with RMAN.

  Always set the deletion «To APPLY ON ALL STANDBY» policy

  DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE determines how long to keep the archives with this configuration.

  I am writing this compilation of documents in a guard daata establishing in 10g. I was in charge to present different approaches in implementing on Rhel 5.
  
  I came across 3 procedures (which is to duplicate a database with RMAN, then configure it to a Data Guard feature). I read a process using (let's this is what the article said, but procedure was presented):
  
  alter tablespace... .begin backup;
  alter tablespace... .end backup;
  
  then copy the generated files and configure it to the data protection feature.
  
  Someone help it with that? Is there like a blogsite or steps I can take for this scenario?

  If you exposed a View for the Historiqueemploye table object, then simply drag this point of view as a form and then drag and drop the create operation (within the structure of the View object in the data control palette) as a button for the new line is created. If you do not always display the historical, add it to an af:popup and start button context menu create or hide the af: panelFormLayt that a form is added by default.

  Does anyone has experiences using business against a data source Active Data Guard components? Y at - it something ADF BC specific, you might need to know/set up regarding the parameters of the Application Module. Of course, we would read only your with her.   It should work perfectly. One thing you will need to know is the passivation of State mechanism used by ADF BC can use a store based on files or DB-table-based store. Obviously, if you want to use the DB-table-based store, you will have to configure it to point to a database where you can write to DB tables, which will be probably different from your database pending of DG. Otherwise, I can't think of specific issues (but I don't him have not personally tested).

• Problem with the primary key and indexes

  I'm looking a mess on one of our main tables.
  One of the developers here added an index on 3 columns in the table, thinking that it would speed up (not noticing that it had not a PK).
  
  Subsequently another developer has noticed there do not have a primary on key. So they added a touch of primry on the single column.
  
  The problem is that now the index created on 3 columns is bein used as the primary key index. As when the primary key is created a new index was not created.
  
  Is there anyway to get rid of this index/change it correct?
  
  This table is related to many many other tables, so when we tried to remove the index we could not due to the primary key and foreign key violations with other tables.

  Oracle, as you found, is quite capable to use a column enformce multi index a single column primary key, as long as the pk column is the leader in the index. This should not cause performance issues for a search of PK and if the three indexed columns are often selected only may benefit from these types of queries.

  The only way to change that now, would be to drop all CF, drop and add the PK constraint and then add all the FK constraints. A long time and potentially dangerous (if you miss to add back of the FKs) endeavour. Certainly not worth the risk in my opinion.

• Question about LGWR Sync for Data Guard

  Hi all
  I have a general question related to guard data. We have a primary database of CARS and a day before RAC database which is two thousand miles. If I ping the main site backup site, the average response time is 30 ~ 50 miliseconds. We intend to configure the DG mode of maximum availability with the LGWR SYNCHRONIZATION options. If the ping network takes at least 30 milliseconds, it will add milliseconds to at least 30 x 2 late before primary LGWR can write to the primary database. Anyone have a similar experience? It will have an impact on the performance of the database? Is the case, we will use Maximum performance mode or maximum availability with the ASYNC option? Feedback is very much appreciated.

  From a point of view, really, it should depend on your business and functional requirements. If your company can afford to lose performance of database data, then you must use mode maximum performance with the ASYNC option. In my opinion, with the configuration of Eve where the backup servers are at 2,000 miles, I'd go with maximum performance mode.

  Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.
