  You probably want to 'Text', not 'indicator string. There are no gradients or style on it, in addition to the color of the text / fonts and the font weight / etc.

  And you should be able to move and remove an element of plain text. Once you drop one from the palette on the front panel, switch to the block diagram.

  Then, drop a terminal element suitable for what you want to link to and hang it to the top: left, top, or opacity, drop a digital > Digital Terminal. Then in the Ribbon (Terminal tools / Configuration tab), link to the appropriate property and "TextBlock".

• Thermocouple node part numbers - difference between programmable and non-programmable nodes?

  We just got our starter kit and the nodes.  Looking at the part number on the back of the knot programmable thermocouple (with the starter kit), it is listed as "D 197085 - 01 L.  There is no number which corresponds to the part number listed on the Web site, such as 780998-02.  Nodes not programmable thermocouple also have this same part number "D 197085 - 01 L ' on the back.  Is there another way to determine which of these nodes have capabilities of LabVIEW?

  Part numbers that see you on the web are the kit shipment numbers.

  Programmable node kits include a LabVIEW WSN deployment license, allowing you to integrate applications on a single WSN node. No programmable node kits shipped the same material, but not the license.

  Therefore, if you have 10 licenses, simply to make sure that you integrate code of 10 knots.

• A non programmable power supply with LabVIEW + additional programming hardware

  My company is interested in the use of LabVIEW to automate a non programmable DC power supply. The instrument in question is the U8001A device, but the idea must be the same, regardless of the manufacturer (the instrument was purchased while I was hired, or I would have opted for one with SCPI commands if that's a thing for power supplies):

  We have two connectors that would be plugged into the power supply and in the 'brick' that holds some sample we want to warm up. This has worked well for our initial target, but we are now interested in time these events alongside 1-2 other instruments that we are exploited (for example a-ohmmeter for quality control), where we can control all this through LabVIEW. Say, only allowing the power reaching the sample at intervals of 5 seconds, with widths of 1-2 seconds impulse.

  I'm sure I'll need a multifunction data acquisition device, and I already have my eyes fixed on the purchase of the NI USB-6501 (link below). My main question is about any additional material which is necesasry, if only a debate of ideas cenceptual on what I'm trying to accomplish. I can do everything I plan only through the acquisition of data, or are there other necessary materials, such as doors? What type of material is suitable for it?   Not even an analog command on this power supply... Range of tension and how much power do you need?  You may be able to make an operational amplifier circuit, but find out who can handle that many likely power won't be easy.

  Honestly, I say just to bite the bullet and get a programmable power supply.  It will be cheaper as you try to make a personalized tour to adapt to a peg in a hole square circle.

  Here, they do not mention a LabVIEW driver, but they have a driver of the CVI.

  Nodes property.

  Right-click on your indicator.  Create > property Node > Visible.  Your Boolean checkbox wire that.

  For the thermometer to create a property node and choose FillColor.  A constant color box wire to one that is in its graphics & > range of image feature.

  Edit: perhaps, I would just add a few points that I usually have to keep in mind during the phase of a new project of planning:

  • Choose the right framework or model based on requirements
  • Keep in mind how to get and set values - indicators and controls. If possible, use the cable to transmit data. Keep in mind what's OK to do with local variables (for example updating a control), and which should be avoided (usually) (read/write indicators for example). If you cannot use the wire to go directly to information (parallel loops), learn the correct use of notifiers, queues, UserEvents, etc...
  • who will use the code (it is very important, you need a totally different approach if you develop for yourself, or others who are not programmers and perhaps even do not know the physical part of the system...)
  • GUI always be responsible. Avoid bad habits (longer time running things in the GUI event loop).
  • Avoid the overcrowded façade: use pop-up windows for the settings, etc. That the user don't need to see always.
  • Error handling! It is very important to make a robust error handling strategy: for example if one of your HW components creates an error, your application cannot just stop everything. Handle the error, close properly all HW and file references (do not forget if you don't properly close a file, you can lose a LOT of data : file write is buffered memory RAM). Also record the error information to a log file.
  • If you need to make an EXE or installer: use a configuration file to store the user's changes: If the user changed the colors (width, etc.) a chart/graph, store this information in a configuration file that you load at the next startup of the application.
  • Automatic detection equipment (or users the possibility to modify the port/channel): what happens if your application moves to another PC (numbering changes COM port, etc...)? Your application needs to adapt to the changes of HW.
