Hello

There is no legal download for Vista.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

You can borrow and use a DVD Vista Microsoft (selling retail or OEM System Builders License), which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

The COA sticker is either on the underside of the laptop or in the battery compartment (you already have).

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as well as 32-bit and 64-bit editions different DVD lights.

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

See you soon.

my touch pad on my laptop does not move the pointer, but when I have my mouse wireless pluged in it will work I was told I could have disabled the touch pad which I have to do to activate it again?

    Hi dove2k,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

You will need to enable the touchpad on the laptop itself.

Find the area of the touch pad, you will find a button to enable or disable the touchpad.

If the step above doesn't, try this step.

Go to control panel > mouse > device settings tab
    Click (or to disable)

    Notes:
On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the touchpad. For example, ACER, just do Fn + F7.
You can click on Reset device if none of these solutions work.

If you still can't touch pad to work, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information.

  • VmWare Workstation 7.1 - Unable to P2V and seems does not support disk Acronis image images

    Hello.

I'm trying to convert my computer into virtual machine using the Conversion Wizard in the VMware Workstation 7.1.

    My hardware is: Intel Core i7-920/6 GB of RAM/2x0.5Tb HDD/ATI HD4800. OS = Windows 7 x 64 Ultimate.

I need to convert only 1 partition on disk 1 which has the OS and all S/W installed. The partition size is 150 GB allocated space = 72G, before the conversion has been defragmented and check-disked (chkdsk/f).

The location of the target is a 'new virtual machine', located on a huge USB - HDD (K:\VM\vmWsXxx-WI7\), of course - I have access to all drives and places, and of course - there is enough free space on the target disk.

    The problems:

    (1) when I am trying to convert all the timeI'm getting the"failed to take.
Instant error message of the volume of the source. In a log file I also see this message - "
    Vsnap didn't"

    admin rights.

Purpose (!) I am connected with a user who belongs to a local "Administrators" group. And 'VMware Agent Service' service is running on the same user account. So, I guess - it must be enough to make Vsnap has all the permissions it needs! :-\

    (2) I also tried another way of P2V - I created a disk image of my partition with an Acronis True Image Home 2010 and tried to put this file to disk image as the source for the conversion of VmWare Wizard. But he reportedthe error - 'file may be corrupt or format not supported ". Makes me think that there might some bugs - in Acronis image that makes the supporting incompatible disk images or VmWar!

My question is - HOW to with SUCCESS CONVERT MY COMPUTER to VM using a VmWare Workstation 7.1 or any other tool?

Sub question is - why declare VmWare disk support Acronis image images but does not in a real?

Or (if it supports their) there may be an incorrect error message - "file may be corrupt or format not supported". Maybe he should point out something else.

    What I tried:

ensured all need services began a) this:

    net start

    UFAD-ws60

    net start "tcp/ip netbios support.

    net start swprv

    net start vss

    (b) I run shell commands - "writers vssadmin list,"vssadmin list shadows"- the two commands work fin, so assume VSS working properly."

    (c) have tried to run this long shell script

    CD %systemroot%\system32

    net stop vss

    net stop swprv

    regsvr32 ole32.dll

    regsvr32 vss_ps.dll

    vssvc /Register

    regsvr32 /i swprv.dll

    regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll

    regsvr32 es.dll

    regsvr32 stdprov.dll

    regsvr32 vssui.dll

    regsvr32 msxml.dll

    regsvr32 msxml3.dll

    regsvr32 msxml4.dll

BTW, I got a lot of error messages about this script:

    • The module "swprv.dll" was loaded but the call to DIIRegisterServer failed with the error code 0 x 80070715.

  • The module "eventcls.dll" was loaded but the call to DIIRegisterServer failed with the error code 0 x 80070715.

  • The "es.dll" module has been loaded but the DIIRegisterServer entry point was not found.

  • Make sure 'es.dll' is a valid DLL or OCX file and try again.

  • The "vssui.dll" failed to load module.

  • The "msxml.dll" failed to load module.

  • The "msxml4.dll" failed to load module.

  • MSXML.dll, msxml4.dll and vssui.dll it is not a surprise because these dll does not exist on Win7 x 64 in the %SystemRoot%\System32 directory.

I found msxml4.dll in SysWow64 - registered. But msxml.dll and vssui.dll are really do not exist on Win7 x 64. Then, for sure - this script itself is the problem!

What other options I do P2V conversion?

Are there configuration problems more can I fix it to make the work of P2V conversion?

    Kind regards

    Dmitry.

PS please see logs 2 closed - system directly, 2nd - diary of the conversion attempt using Acronis True Image Home 2010 disk image works 1 journal of P2V conversion attempt.

so I bought windows 7 Home premium on discount for students. I received a confirmation email telling me to download either an EXE or ISO file. I decided to download iso, however, after I finished downloading and extracting the zip file, I got a folder (name X 15 65733) and inside does not contain an Iso file. Instead, it has a bunch of folders and files, one of them is called setup.exe. I click on the file setup.exe, which explain that the setup.exe is not a valid win32 application.

so I can not upgrade my windows xp to windows 7 right now, let alone burn it to a dvd. can someone please? Thank you!

The X 15 65733 file is the file .iso Windows 7 Home Premium image. You have to burn to a dvd as a bootable disk to install Windows 7.

  • ESXi 4.1 - Dell Poweredge 2850 - tape backup - host does not support configuring passthrough

I'm trying to get a tape backup to work on my ESXi host, so I can save my win2003 VM.  I get this error under VMDirectPath, 'host does not support configuring passthrough ".  Under Configuration > storage adapters > I don't see my tape drive listed.  Also, I noticed that my SCSI controller card is NOT on the HCL (Adaptec 39160).  See.  This is probably why passthrough doesn't work.

So, I was thinking of buying this one (Adaptec 39320) because he seems to be on the list.  This will solve my problem or is this server too old for passthrough to work?

To use VMDirectpath on an Intel Server chipset used must support Intel VT - d (Directed i/o).   I don't think that's the case with the models of 2850, but if it was you would see an option in the BIOS to enable this.  It is a separate option of VT - x, which allows the host run the 64-bit clients.

  • "Video playback device does not support protected content playback.

It is a system with tuner via SiliconDust HD Homerun first.  QuickTV works very well.
The temporary fix was noted by optimizing and reducing the WMC window temporarily fixed direct reception of TV tuner.  You are looking for a permanent solution.

Have tried all of the above tactics.  Still not play a "Update Ready" on step 14.
Any ideas what I'm missing here.  Windows 8-64 bit Pro with the Add on WMC.
Also, I must say that I am very disappointed that MS has taken to "Stay on top" setting to keep WMC above other windows version Win8 out.
What could be the reason for this?  Forces to some third-party utilities user / app.
    1. the error message was in my topic:
"Video playback device does not support protected content playback.

    2. the excruciatingly detailed troubleshooting steps are listed in the links that I showed in my post.
In any case, after trying a bunch of stuff and you try to reset the DRM / play ready through my above links, I made the point #1 as shown in the instructions below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/976590
For some reason, this protected download digital file and update of WMC to play this sound file now seems to have fixed the problems that I had the problem of "video playback device does not support protected content playback.
    Really a frustrating thing.
I had some problems with the installation of a driver from chipset for a new motherboard, I had to install and it seemed pretty hardware changes to have upset the loan play in my Win8 - 64-bit Pro installation.
In any case, looks OK now.

    Hello

    (1) what is the file format of the photos on the CD?

    (2) you are able to play another CD/DVD on this computer?

    (3) have you made recent changes to the computer before the show?

    (4) is it a Blu - ray disc?

Install the codec for Blu - Ray. Your Blu - ray player should have come with a medium containing the codec. You can also use your favorite search engine and free research Blu - ray codec.
The Blu - ray disc format is not supported in Windows Media Player. To play a Blu - ray disc, you must use a non-Microsoft program that supports Blu - ray playback and a device that can play Blu - ray discs.
