OfficeJet J4550 keeps jammin

I am at a loss, he printed out wonderfully in the past, but all of a sudden, he thinks he has a jam.  I looked for the submission of the other, but no one has answered them.  I hope that by submitting a new thread today, an expert will give me a help.

I replaced the ink cartridge, blew the roll area.  I managed to do print on plain paper for all ten sheets and then he started again.  There is no chance to print a picture right now.  We liked this machine, it is wonderfully, and it seems to need something!  Help!

Peggy

Well well, thanks Skippy to answer.  Not what I wanted to hear, but I appreciate your time.

My moms computer was installed by my father and already the installation of the printer. She then began having some problems when printing lines by slots empty words in words. I tried cleaning the printer option, but that has not worked, also tried the alignment of cartridges but that also had problems, sometimes it could not detect the scanner test sheet and then we would say a mistake and return to the default settings. I was then going to the computer application, but he missed. I guess that when it was installed, it was not a complete installation.

I then started to re - install from the cd without uninstalling it first. Thought it would be OK and just replace the existing files. Sometimes, this works for programs and sometimes you will need to uninstall first. When I loaded the cd it says that this version of windows was not compatible. Then, I searched the net and found this thread of Hp.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-all-in-one-install-Setup/Windows-7-and-OfficeJet-J4550-install/...

I downloaded the new installation for win 64 files and down them, before he installed it there was an error (empty white error with a red x) and it wouldn't install. Then sent information to HP and said it has found a solution and downloaded to the desktop. Basically, he wanted to fix my installation but unplug the printer. So I did this and it worked fine during installation. Then when he got at the end during the setup I got a fatal error. Something about the configuration has expired or has been too long and we also found several files of HP. So he started to uninstall itself. I thought having bad uninstall programs, then put it back. So I did, worked well until the config part and then he did the time out or another error. The mistake of never came however duplicates. So I cancelled as fast as I could. I can print and scan from the program on the pc. But it lacks the features of the printer itself. As if I hit him scan it tells me to consult the manual. I just want to complete installation work. Any thoughts?

I did all the steps, downloaded the packgage, uninstalled using l3.bat, did drop cleanboot, reboot, update adobe Flash Player as well as cleaning. Download the hp installation wizard. When running the wizard, it says there is a problem with my driver, then it starts to connect to the internet to download the software, but then said the download was cancelled, click Retry to try again but the retry button does not work. I have mcaffee AV, the only way ive seen turn off is to disable on the analysis of access and the firewall.

Don't you have an another clean boot and no driver error, but the same error message when the installation wizard attempts to download the full software. Simply use the version of the software from the link has me http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-J4000-All-in-One-Printer-series/3645081/model/3645096#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1

    FINALLY HE GOT WORKING:

Downloaded the basic print and scan driver package, ran the installation and it did not work. I started to think there must be a driver problem. Had similar problems with itunes where it wouldn't read my ipod even after an uninstall and reinstall. And for that I had to remove the driver and reinstall it, for some reason any it was causing problems.

Make sure the name is exactly the same as the folder. After its extraction do the same for the complete package. After extraction, a HP screen may pop up, just close for now.

    1. If the printer software is installed, uninstall it.

    2. with the connected printer go to devices control panel\ Manager, right click on your printer and click on uninstall. Check the box in the lower right corner that says something like "Do you want to remove the software driver or files" then click on uninstall.

If box is displayed, and then click cancel, right-click on your printer and select Properties, click on the driver tab at the top, then the Details button pilot. make a new file .txt on your desktop and enter in all of the files and the locations of eveything that appears. After that click OK, then driver tab, click on uninstall.

Here are some of the files and locations but check they are all listed and not missing anything.

    c:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbscan.sys

    c:\Windows\system32\hpotscl1.dll

    c:\Windows\system32\hpowiav1.dll

    3. open a new file and copy and paste the address of each file in the search bar. It will look something like this

    c:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbscan.sys

before hitting enter each need to be edited windows otherwise think you try to open the file rather than access the folder. So for the modified example will look like this

    c:\Windows\System32\Drivers

the drivers folder is what you want to be in and the usbscan.sys is the file you want to check is removed. Do this for everything in your list. If the files have disappeared that has, if not manually delete them or move them to a new folder on the desktop until installation is complete just in case.

    4. (computer may or may not need to be restarted) and then unplug the printer, open the software package and the base driver and double-click setup.exe. Do the installation and when it asks you to connect the printer.

    5. after its installed according to your needs, you can either test its features to see if it has what you need or you go to install more packages / programs from the full version.  Double-click setup.exe for the full package, then it will ask you that you if you want to uninstall or install more software, select the installation of the software. He can just show 1 or maybe a little. If its does not display those you want to click on the buttons more or less recommended until you find what you are looking for. You can try to install more then one at a time, but for me it did not work, I had to do one at a time.

As far as the folders on the desktop used for extraction, it is a good idea to keep those with your backup files unless you use a restore image, but it good to keep because the backup even images may have problems. I would recommend save their be on a cd/dvd, USB drive, external hard drive, the cloud storage lol somewhere just in case you need it again as well as installation instructions. If you have moved all the files in the driver instead of delete and your printer now works, you can remove them.

NOTE: If keeping the package for later use, Exchange compressed files for those who have been extracted because they take less space. Unless you want to just the ones extracted. (Compressed are those you downloaded from HP in the folder downloads, extracts are those in the office used for installation folder.)

And thank you Gemini02 for helping me with this.

  • All-in-one OfficeJet J4550: only a fraction of the feed photo paper

I am trying to print photos of 4 * 6 using HP photo tip on an OfficeJet J4550 paper.  Sometimes it works but most of the time after the initial report pull in the paper and the printer starts to print, paper only continues to fuel in about half of the way through the printing process.  So I find myself with half right of the image about half left of the document.  Sometimes I get two-thirds of the image and sometimes only one third - it varies.  The part of the picture I get is really good!  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Hey @Steve2034, welcome to the Forums of HP! I'd love to help you to print photo 4 x 6 of your Officejet J4550. I understand that sometimes you can print a photo 4 x 6 full, but most of the time that the book fails to pass correctly so you end up with a partial impression. This happens when you print on 8 x 10 or any other photo paper? What happened when you print documents? Could you please try to make a copy of the photo of a photo 4 x 6 in order to test the equipment and eliminate the software/driver?

Although you may be able to print documents, and assuming that it's a hardware problem, please complete the solutions suggested, presented in the following document: HP Officejet J4500/J4600 all-in-One Printer Series - Error Message "on paper" and the printer is not Pick Up or paper feed.

I don't think you see an message to document your description, but the options presented in the document above could solve the problem you are experiencing.

If the question is indeed solved, please click Accept as Solution button below. If however, the problem persists, let me know and post back with the answers to the above questions.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing back on your part.

  • Message @ Officejet J4550 paper jam when there is no jam

My Officejet J4550 shows 'clear paper jam' and there is no jam.  I followed the instructions to remove a jam twice (even if it is not a), uninstalled & has tried to reinstall the software, I downloaded on the site.  He also said that there is a paper jam.  Any thoughts?

If it is still under warranty, it's time to contact HP.  If it is out of warranty, its probably time for a new printer.

  • OfficeJet J4550 with Snow Leopard - printer does not

I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, and had trouble with scanning on my officejet J4550 until I read the posts on this forum, downloaded the recent update and learned to go to preview or Capture images. Now I can scan, but I cannot print. After sending a job to print, the print queue indicates that the status is "completed" - but the work has never been printed. What should I do?

Reload the ' bad software (which for pre - 10.6), then uninstall it by using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Restart your Mac

    Now run a software update.

Finally, download and install the "Full Featured" driver and software from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • HP OfficeJet J4550 all-in-one: printer Windows 10 compatibility

    Hello

I plan on the transition from Windows 8.1 (64 bit) to Windows 10 (64-bit) and check the download section of printer for a Windows 10 driver for this printer but did not. This printer will be compatiable with 10 Windows and HP will provide a driver Windows 10.

    Thank you

    Jerry125

    Hello Jerry125,

Yes! Officejet J4550 works and is supported on Windows 10.

I checked and checked it appears the link Win10 of the driver for this device is missing: it is one thing, we are working to resolve.

In the meantime, let me suggest that you download and install the Windows drivers 8.1: they have been tested and prove with the work on Windows 10.

To get the Windows 8.1 drivers.

    1. Locate your device on the drivers hp.com/Support/Download.
    2. Take Option2: "go directly to the Software & Driver results."
    3. On the banner on your screen that says "Operating System", click on modify and replace Windows Version "Microsoft Windows 8.1'.»
    4. You should now see a download button, version, date, and name of the printer: click it and download and install the software for your device.
    5. Important: Unplug your appliance 1 before installing the software.

  • Officejet J4550 supports a special ringtone?

I just bought an Officejet J4550 today, everything installed OK, but even after two hours of work using help etc. I couldn't turn on a special ringtone. Every search I do takes back us to a support page for 'J4500 series' devices, and the description of running a special ring does not fit on my device menu items. Anyone know if this printer supports this feature? I was unable to find an answer on the site of HP, very frustrating. Thank you.

  • OfficeJet J4550: Could not load the driver for the WIN10 - installation hangs

Updated my Dell XPS to WIN10. I tried to upgrade the driver for my J4550 but installation hangs at the beginning of the installation process, "control systems".  When I tried the download, the old files from HP devices detected HP program and deleted. Now my computer does not even recognize the OfficeJet when you plug into the USB port.

Need help why computer does not recognize the printer no matter what I do and how to get the computer to download the driver.

    Hello
Follow the steps below and check if it solves the problem:

1 open the Mcafee Virus and Spyware Protection software you are interested in, click on calendar and perform analyses. Click analysis in real time, and then click stop. Select until I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the button turn off.

Now, try to reinstall the HP software and check if the installation goes as planned.

If the problem persists, run the following tool:
    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/Printers/datfileremover/installdatfileclean.exe
Then, run the Setup file and check all difference

  • OfficeJet J4680 keeps printing

    Hello

Before I contact HP support, thougth I'd like to see if someone here can help.

I just bought a J4680 all-in-one.  Whenever I have send anything to print (from any application), it keeps printing multiple copies until I delete the print job from my PC.  Can someone shed light on this or suggest a solution?

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (all updates installed) and the all-in-one is connected via wi - fi.  Have tried turning off the firewall (Zonealarm) but the same thing happens.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the software but still the same.

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

Just an update after contacting HP technical support, seems to have settled the question.

In case someone has a similar problem here is what they suggested. (Four steps, if the first doesn't work, go to the next)

Step 1: Set the number of copies
Pretty self-explanatory, number of copies is set on it. Of course, already checked this so moved on to the next step.

Step 2: Restart the print spooler device
1 open administrative tools. -Maintenance of the system in Control Panel, and then click Administrative Tools.
    2. double-click on Services.
    3. in the user account control window, click on continue.
    4. click on print spooler.
    5. click stop to stop the print spooler.
    6. Click Start to restart the print spooler.
    7. click on OK.
    8 restart the computer

Did not work for me, but others may have better luck.

Step 3: Print directly to the printer
    1. in Control Panel, click hardware and sound.
2 right click on the printer icon.
    3. Locate and click the icon of the printer HP Officejet J4680 all-in-one
    3. click on properties.
    4. click on the advance tab.
    5. click on print directly to the printer.
    6. click on OK

This does not prevent the first problem of the printer continues to print, but left the document waiting so when I sent anything else to print it is stuck in the queue and that it was impossible to remove the first task in the queue.

    Step 4: Install alternate drivers

This step does the job, it seems strange that I have to use the drivers for a different printer, probably HP should ensure that its drivers are working before releasing a product, or if they know that these drivers work, why not send them with the officejet and rename them?

In any case, just add a new printer from the Control Panel, choose the local option and LPT1 as the port, and then select the ch 990c from the list as the printer to install. Once installed, right click on the printer in the Printers folder and select Properties (see previous step). Click on the Ports tab, here change the port to the one put in place for the J4680

  • HP Officejet 4630: Keeps jamming paper printer - maybe a problem of tray?

So my printer keeps jamming. I continued to try to open the access part, remove the jammed paper and try printing again. However, the paper continues to jam was not printing. It seems that the Board is unable to articulate properly with the rest of the printer. How can I fix the drawer so that the paper is charging correctly?

I left the printer only since yesterday when I posted my message. I turned on at the moment and I tried to print and it worked! Not sure what happened, but I'm going to go and call this resolved.

    Thanks for the tips!
