Hello and welcome to the community!

There is only a single process that can allow you to bypass the protection functions against theft and the use of this device:

    1. Complete the initial Setup, using the preliminary credentials of BBID
    2. Initiate a security WIPE on the device, using the prior BBID credentials
    3. At startup, create/use your own BBID

This process is the only way to free association between the device and the prior BBID, allowing to use your own BBID. If you cannot contact the prior owner or they do not know BBID identification information, then your suspicions whether a stolen device could well be accurate. Again, only the process above will remove the unit to your use, and it requires a knowledge of these prior BBID powers... There is no way to get around.

Use the lost Mode, you can lock your device with a four-digit coderemotely, display a personalized message with your phone number on the lock screen of your missing device and keep track of the location of your device. • Strategies for the recovery of a laptop once it is stolen

    Hi all.

I don't know what software / services already exist with regard to the recovery of a stolen laptop. But I know that the consequences of a loss. If someday it happens I want to know what I could do to get this back.

I am aware of some online services that exist to give monitoring info, but they charge an annual high, I think that I didn't need to pay. Laptops are all over the internet. So it is a freeware that I can move permanently to transmit tracking information once that this laptop stolen is connected to the internet? For example, tracking information can be sent directly to another computer, as my desktop computer at home? This information can then be passed to the application of the law.

Perhaps there are other much better more intelligent methods, which I hope could share generous people. This will serve to avoid computer / laptop computer theft. What Toshiba himself in any software? For example, Samsung mobile phones are now built with stolen phones text alerts. If this idea can be or is it incorporated into laptops?

    Please answer.

    Hello

In my view, it is not so easy to find the stolen laptop. AFAIK, the laptop can be tracked by MAC address (a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or cards (NIC) network interface when you are connected to the Internet. But there are a lot of software, those can hide the real MAC address with a trick.

I think the best solution is to be attentive and not allowing it to fly.

    Hi imeyoya

I'm sorry to hear that your iPad was stolen.

Unfortunately, without finding my iPad is enabled on the device, there is not that you can do to recover or protect the data on it, but you can protect your account. I hope that you had a defined password.

If you do not enable find my iPhone before your device has been lost or stolen, you can not use it to locate your device. However, you can use the following steps to help protect your data:

    1. Change your password on Apple ID. By changing your Apple ID password, you can prevent anyone to access your iCloud data or using other services (such as iMessage or iTunes) from your missing device.

  • Laptops stolen - draw MAC addresses

We had a number of thefts of laptop the past few months and would be able to follow some of these flights, if only we had the MAC addresses! When the new laptops are stolen just after delivery there is no record any of their wireless or the MAC addresses of the NETWORK card that could be used to locate their use on our network and the networks of other Institutions there. It seems that Toshiba does not keep a record of the serial number and MAC address.

A plea for Toshiba: when will you begin keeping a record of MAC addresses against the serial numbers?

Although we appreciate that software is available to change the addresses MAC is not valid to save addresses for every laptop on the issue?
At least we would take a chance to follow the mobile phone in use... ???

    Hello

It seems that it s not known to you, that this is a user forum and you will find only Toshiba users of cell phones here in the forum. If nobody from Toshiba here.

Anyway did you check the lower part of one of the units of Toshiba?

I found on my books different labels below with different numbers.
There is a label with the serial number, model number and you will of course find the two labels with LAN MAC address and the WLan Mac address.
I think that it s no problem so that everyone can note these numbers and addresses

You know Toshiba support home page?
    Check this box:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support & download
You will find a database with stolen devices. There, you can save your laptop stolen.

    With regard to the Mac address of follow-up;
Of course, it is possible discover the Mac address, but how do you want to find the laptop with this Mac address? You want to follow the entire www?
For me, that doesn't really sound realistic

  • You just bought stolen Portege M400!

On 27 October, I bought Toshiba Portege M400-103 (part number PPM40E-01201CRU, store in Moscow). It was new in box (but not waterproof). Then I registered it to Toshiba 3-year warranty. They asked for proof of purchase, I provided it (reception and cash-memo and a photo of the label on the package), and then, they confirmed my warranty.

Yesterday, when they surf on this site, I found the link to the database of stolen laptops and checked my serial number. He said that my Portege M400 is STOLEN!

If I have a proof of purchase, it is always very embarrassing for me to have such a marked mobile. Should I return it to the store? Should I talk about Toshiba (although, why they confirmed the warranty on a stolen laptop?). What should I do?

PPM40E-01201CRU is the serial number of portable.
What you need is the * serial number.

I checked the database stolen units Toshiba I found on the support page, and there are many units PPM40E-01201CRU with different serial numbers.
    Please check this!

If your serial number will then contact the service provider allowed in your country and explain this situation!

    Hello Ahmed

Please don t get me wrong, but what do you expect from Toshiba now?
To search your laptop or what?

If you have registered your mobile phone stolen, and you have done that, all the authorized service providers in countries the EMEA (Europe, Middle East Africa) will be informed and if someone puts your laptop to one of them it will be recognised as stolen.

That s all that Toshiba can do for the moment.

Please please please help me find my phone.

    I have an IMEI: 353288074718846

If you have not enabled find my iPhone before losing the device, you can not activate it remotely.  You will not be able to track the device.  I recommend that you change any account information you have can have on the device (credit cards, passwords, email, etc.) unless you're confident, you had a strong password on the device.

  • Stolen satellite A200

    Hello

Unfortunately, recently my laptop was stolen from me Satellite A200 PSAECE and I know exactly where in this toshiba forum I should ask the question, but I hope that it is the only one. The laptop had windows vista license Home premium on it (on the back) I have not to copy anywhere.
Is possible to find this license in your database of serial numbers that I have on the few books and give that were in the package with the laptop when purchased?

    I have:
recovery of 1) product dvd - Home premium 32-bit
    flyers 2): extended warranty free
flyers 3): LCD screens. Information on the screen technology
    Flyers 4): quick start
Book 5): International limited warranty for laptops
Book 6): Windows Vista Home Premium
    Book 7): the user's manual A200

Also, if you can find some information about my laptop serial numbers on the back, I'll be able to fill out the flight for the laptops that I have not yet. I've tried, but I couldn't finish it :(

Thank you, hope to hear soon from the u.

This license number is strange to me. Why you need this number?
And if you'll get what you want with it? You can't use it for anything. It is absolutely useless for you.

Hmm... How to give you the serial number of your laptop?
Have you registered your mobile phone after the purchase?

  • Desktop HP Compaq Elite 8300: stolen PC

    Hello

My PC HP Compaq Elite computer 8300 was stolen yesterday from my apartment!
I checked the specifications of product, and he says there is an anti-theft Intel processor installed on my PC.

I wonder if there is anything that I can track my PC!

PS I have already informed the Police about this, but apparently they have no idea about the ability to track the stolen PC.

    Hello

Yes, there are few services around and the way it works is similar to the GPS and mobile phones. It can allocate wher the power is turned on, BUT you have to pay for this service first, too late now, I think.

Sorry, I tell you this story: one of my friends who have used a similar facility for his iPad. The iPad was stolen, a few weeks later, he could see his location (more), using internet and he reported this to the police. Police told him they'd contact police officers of State to help him. Actually, he contacted the State to help police. He could not see on the internet 6 weeks later. No idea of what was going on. No good news from the police, the two States.

    Kind regards.

  • BlackBerry Z30 trying to find my stolen BlackBerry Z30

My BlackBerry Z30 was stolen recently and it is very important that you get it back.

GPS and BlackBerry protect were both on before the phone was stolen, however when I try to follow via my computer it gives me a message saying that it was the last time my school 5 days ago and would not update the location of the phone, saying: it will be, as soon as the phone connects to the wireless network (which is highly unlikely).

Same problem when I try to use another feature of BlackBerry Protect.

Can someone help me find or connect to my phone in anyway even if it is disabled?

Any kind of help is appreciated!

Also fantastic as a phone Blackberry is, I'm surprised that someone would steal such a serious phone.  It would be difficult to sell at a good price, because most users want a smart phone and more like a toy. With several carriers, once a BB is reported stolen its registration numbers are black listed. It can no longer be activated until the original owner cancels the flight report and has removed the blacklist phone.

BB Protect would work for you if the phone can be reached by the mobile phone system and at the same time the GPS in the phone to work. If the phone has not been charged for the number of days very likely the battery is too low for any type of operation traceable. The thief would require phone charger.

Today, most people know phones can be tracked very accurately, if they can reach the network. It would be better for you that the phone has a decent password to protect your data.

I hope you said the stolen phone, and you should just get a new one. Never leave your phone on a table or in a place where anyone can quickly pick up when you're not looking. Always keep the phone cut to your belt or Pocket secure when you don't have it in your hands.

I know a woman who works in a grocery store. She put her phone down just for a moment to serve a customer for a few seconds. His phone was quickly ripped off never to see again.
