Store data on a USB device

Hello

I dreamed of my server at home, now I bought a server and have my first problem.

My hardware:

HP ML110 G7

I hoped that it would be possible to install esxi 5 on an sd card (which works fine) and store data for a virtual machine on the sd card or a USB stick (which is not possible)

Is it possible to use it as I mentioned?

Stefan

Welcome to the community,

Unfortunately not. VMware does not support the VMFS partitions on USB/SD devices.

    Hello

Start Windows Explorer, and then see if there is a drive letter assigned for access to the
drive. If this is not the case, check if the disc is shown in disk management.

    1. Open Computer Management by clicking on the button start , by clicking on Control Panel, system and security, clicking Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the left pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

If there has made a right click option - assign a drive letter for you can use Windows
    Explorer to copy files.

    I hope this helps.

  • When I plug my USB in Iget the message not recognized usb device

I have a storage device removable I store my files in. Yesterday after saving my work, I closed my laptop and removable storage in as well as my mouse to the left. I came back after several hours and tried to open a file that was on removable storage, but it was not listed. In others, I go to my computer and select the removable disk f for example, but he wasn't there. So I unplugged it and donated to the is when I got the message saying: USB device not recognized one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windowes dose not recognize it. So I put in my laptop to marry and got the same answer. I have no problem with the wireless mouse.

    Hello

Once removed the HDD data can't be recovered. However, you can use your favorite search engine to browse third-party data recovery software and use this software to recover data.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

You can also view the following link to recover lost or deleted files and try the steps:

I spent days reading the forums and try solves nothing doesn't.  I have a mouse, printer, drive hard USB and fingerprint reader.  First mouse has stopped and the rest followed in the course of the last few days.  At least I found someone with an old PS/2 mouse, so I have a mouse to work to work with.  None of my devices were conflicts in Device Manager when I started it but after remove all and try resetting of USB Hub and unplug the machine, they are all not recognized.

    Hello

Is his as well. Especially if you have the problem of speed with a single
    USB 2.0 device is attached.

Well, if you want to try a upgrade/repair on-site Installation and then a complete cleaning
    Windows Setup.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).

I followed several channels of the problems that were associated with the popup error in Vista that says "Unrecognized USB device"... that I'm having the same problem.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall my USB drivers with nothing working.  It was recommended that SFC.exe in the message area of C:.  I did and it came up with error messages that could not be repaired in the CFS program.  What should I do to fix these problems?  I posted the report itself below, showing that areas that have problems.

    Hi CapsFanQ,

To repair the system corrupted files on the computer that was not fixed by SFC scan, an upgrade in place might have to accomplish.

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2: "one or more system components that require the service pack are missing."

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/968279

(See option 1 in the link)

Note:  Before you perform an upgrade in-place, you must be prepared for the worst scenarios that led to your existing data on your computer being deleted. Make sure that you back up personal data to disks or other storage devices before performing an upgrade on the spot. To perform an upgrade in-place, follow these steps.

Until you try to upgrade on the spot, I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below to fix USB:

Step 1: Run the fixit provided in the link below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/tips-for-solving-problems-with-USB-devices

    If the problem persists,

Step 2: Connect the device to a different USB port and test and also to connect the device to another computer to eliminate the problem of USB device.

    If the problem persists,

Step 3: Reinstall the USB controllers.

First of all, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    1. click on 'Start', type device manager in the search bar and press "Enter." If necessary, click on continue.

    2. in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right-click on the "host controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

    3. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

You can contact the manufacturer of the USB device for known problems

Step 4: Update the driver of the motherboard (Chip set drivers) to the latest version.

Note: Please check with the manufacturer of the motherboard before installing the driver.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • ESXi 6 - unable to connect the USB device to VM

    Hi people:

I have a problem with a specific USB 3 device to try to connect to a virtual computer.  The device is a Toshiba USB 3 5 TB hard drive, and it is recognized by ESXi I see when I do a lsusb command, but it is never offered as a choice available to connect to a virtual computer.  I tried to restart management agents, restart ESXi with the connected device so that it is immediately detected at startup.  I tried using the web client to vcenter server appliance and the native client C.  She just never appears as a choice just as if it is not there.  Other USB 3 devices, including a Startech gigabit network device and another 2 TB Toshiba USB drive appear as a choice, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with USB 3 devices as a whole.  I have connected to other computers and even an Arch Linux VM under the same ESXi which has a Startech USB 3 connected via PCI Passthrough controller and it works in all places.  I tried to connect to a USB 2 port just for the heck of it, and I got the same result (invisible to virtual machines) here is what information I have via the newspapers.  I see a few entries on the device being suspended in the vmkernel journal, but I don't know if it is normal for a device until it is assigned to a virtual computer.

Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix welcome.

Hi guys, I just had the same issue and it resolved on my test environment.

I got the device ID using "lsusb".

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0480:d011 Toshiba America information. Systems, Inc..

where 0480:d011 is the device ID

    Then ran the following command:

    oddities s esxcfg-module = 0480:d011:i usb-storage

After a reboot I was able to cross the device for my VMs.

I'm not an expert in this field, as far as I can understand of this thread: problem mit USB Passthrough (eine andere nicht, geht HDD) - to vSphere5 / ESXi 5.0 5.1 - VMware Forum und "usb-storage" module crashes when you try to access the drive and does not pass through to the arbitrator of the usb. The person in this thread turns off the usb storage but I boot from USB and so I couldn't do it. Steal the idea of this thread: zero calorie tech deals: VMFS formatted USB sticks in VMware vSphere 5.1 I could exclude the USB from the usb-storage module device (I think).

I have not tested how this affects other features, but initial test is positive.

  • iBooks - not published data synchronization with other devices

using iBooks, iCloud, El Capitan, all upgrades are current - recently, I edited all the data of iBooks on the iMac.  Provides that these data be synchronized on my Air iPad or iPhone when I plugged in all night. Nothing happened. Still waiting.   They show only partial lists of the documents with the names of old documents, collections and categories. Tried to delete app full on the iPad then have iCloud restore, but iOS wouldn't let me do that.  Can not even remove documents to iBooks on the iPad... that they all indicate the symbol of the cloud, but the old name, etc.

    Hello

Keep your books to date on your devices

If you start reading a book on one device, you can pick up where you left off on another device. Collections, highlights, notes and bookmarks sync on all your devices. Follow the steps below to synchronize.

    On your Mac

    • Open the iBooks app.
    • Select iBooks > Preferences > General.
    • Select "Sync bookmarks, facts highlights and collections across devices.
This setting is enabled by default.

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    • Go to settings > iBooks.
    • Select the Collections of synchronization and synchronization of bookmarks and Notes.
In iBooks 3.2 or earlier, select Synchronize Collections and synchronization of bookmarks.

If you don't see all your information on all your devices, check your settings:

    • Make sure that you have turned on sync above settings on all of your devices.
    • Make sure you use the same Apple ID in the store, iBooks on all your devices.

Above information may also be found here > iBooks of synchronization between your Mac and your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • Satellite Pro m USB devices connection problems

    Hello visitors and insiders.

can someone help me, please? - or are the causes of the problems of programmed BIOS is not perfect?

I put on the USB Ports (I tried all 3 Ports) after correct installation of the most recent drivers for devices and the BIOS and chipset.
I tried MAGIX encoder by USB and PINNACLE for USB encoder - both signal-request-problems and the two could not shut down the system after connecting with USB and close with her current for USB device.

I tried this on different WinXP installiations (multiboot) - but on all systems even.

The same reaction has been, as I have connected a special CUSHION cooler for laptop with additional USB Ports.
The CUSHION cooled - but the USB Ports do not work for all devices (devices I am familiar with the)
Ports of origin of the laptop, has failed to TRIM, too). (worked directly devices: mouse, webcam, keyboard, drive hard usb)

What should do? .. If anyone know Somethin ' help... I will be very happy.

Thank you very much!!! (Sorry for my English is not perfect)

    Ben

Is what model of laptop exactly?

Have you installed Windows yourself? Or it was preinstalled?

Looks like it's a software problem, bad drivers USB can at fault.

You are able to back up your data and run recovery?

  • Satellite Pro M70: removal of the USB device causes other peripheral USB does not work

Withdrawal/use of a USB for a USB device causes devices on USB port to get affected.

Satellite Pro M70-199 (2 GB RAM)
Windows XP Pro (SP2) with all updates of Windows installed until end of October 2006.
This laptop has 3 USB ports.
An Eicon Diva ISDN USB modem is connected to a USB port.

When certain devices connected to a different USB port are deleted (even if removed safely with "eject" or "remove device safely", it causes the ISDN modem to file either a double channel (64 k + 64 k) ISDN, or for the ISDM modem to disconnect completely.)

Cause this include any memory stick USB, MP3 player (ipod and creative zen) and so on.

Do other devices, such as USB external hard drives & sometimes external DVD USB drives, and sonetimes do not produce this problem.

    Is this a known issue?
If it is a hardware interrupt problem, how to solve it?
This problem is related to the modem and the laptop?

As a note, in addition, intermittent (random) times (cannot reproduce all the time, but it happens once or twice a day) when a USB device is accessible it causes the modem USB ISDN to drop a single channel, even if the lights on the modem still show it as it is connected. In this case and the case above, the only way to get the modem ISDN USB running again is physically disconnect and reconnect.

The reason why it is a crucial issue is that:
    (1) the modem speed is halved or disconnected
    (2) the ISP continues to full rate for a double load connection even if a channel has been dropped.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I didn t notice any strange problems with the USB ports. I use a few of them as printer, webcam, USB, memory stick, optical mouse, and external HARD drive. The devices are recognized correctly and I always remove without option delete without danger.

Now I have Vista pre-installed and there is no problem so far. If I understand you right USB ports work fine but there is problem with USB modem only. Am I wrong?
Also try to contact the producer of modem support. Is perhaps the question like this known and if all goes well, they have a logical explanation.

  • Portege M700 - 4 devices called Data Interface in the Device Manager

I am facing a problem with the toshiba portege m700.
In Device Manager, I have 4 devices called Data Interface.

I completely wiped the hard drive and formatted in ntfs.
Then installed Windows Vista 32-bit and installed all the drivers available on the toshiba site, but I find myself with four instances of data Interface in other devices in Device Manager.

    Can anyone help?

    Hardware ID data interface:

    USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & REV_0000 & MI_00

    USB\VID_0930 & PID_1302 & MI_00

Have you installed the O2Micro smart card reader? O2Micro Smart Card Reader which allows you to authenticate on your computer with a smart card and a PIN code.

In addition, you should check if the Wireless Mobile Broadband of Novatel has been installed too!

  • PRS-600 USB device not recognized

I am unable to get ereader PRS-600 to be recognized by the computer (Win7).
I tried to update the software (even if I think it's in)
(date) but the window 'connect a PRS-600 to update' does not progress and the update button is dimmed.
I deleted the "unknown device" in the drivers, but when I reconnect the USB cable and the ereader, I always get the display of device not recognized and the message "USB device not recognized".

I seem to have solved the problem. I contacted Sony through esupport and a chat with a tech.

Make sure that the battery has some charge inside. Completely charge if you can.
    Stop eReader (fully)
    Remove the SD card
Press the button Reset (at the bottom of the ereader)
    Turn it on
While the display shows "Open book", at the same time press the button to "turn the page" (back) and the Volume button until the "Reset All" + screen
Enter 'Yes' to reset the ereader. You may need to configure the screen (X button with the tip to draw at various points)
If you charge the battery, you may need to contact the support chat for sorting.

    Good luck!

  • Big problems with USB devices

Since I upgraded to El Capitan I have several, serious problems with USB devices:

1 USB hard drive: everything by watching a video from an external hard drive, the hard drive will be to disassemble all the minutes, the video will be of course hang and it takes 45-60 seconds until the drive reconnects. I also can not boot from any external hard drive more. Booting from a USB key works fine.

    2. I can't transfer my Sunny BT11 of beam data more. The Sunny Beam is a device that records the data of my photovoltaic plant. The overview of the system he sees when connected via USB, however he is not recognized and so I can't transfer data files. Also, it makes not a difference if it is connected via a USB hub or directly, the two versions do NOT work. In the Finder preferences, all devices are controlled to display on the desktop.

The two scenarios always perfectly work with my Mac mini that has not been updated and uses Mac OS X 10.10.

    Hello Gulliver,

It seems that if you live with loss of connection of your USB devices since the installation of Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, is that correct?

I suggest that you are troubleshooting by following the steps in this article - OS X El Capitan: If a USB device does not work

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Sincerely.

  • have we not back up our data to an external device before the update to windows 8.1

have we not back up our data to an external device before the update to windows 8.1.

update to windows 8 8.1 will affect the data in the laptop...

    @swati90

If you upgrade from the Microsoft Store, your applications, data office and personal will not be deleted.

If you're updating with an ISO will always give you the opportunity to register personal files.

Error on prudence, I like so I will say that it is not a bad idea to back up important data to an external drive before the upgrade.

  • series-usb lag with other usb devices

I don't think that the title of this post fully captures the problem I am facing, then, let me explain a little more.  I'm trying to interface with a lot of devices in LabVIEW, two of my machines are built to order and use adapters of RS-422 to USB and another 4 devices are devices of BEDS that use USB.  So, all of my devices are connected to my computer via USB (via two 8-port external powered hubs).  I basically read data from my custom built devices, then using this data to control 4 devices for the use of cots.  My custom devices are running at 3.6 Mbit/s and reading data from them with nothing else connected works very well. The problems begin to occur when I begin connecting devices COTS.  I have connect and try to interface with them, I start having problems contacting my two custom devices.  Specifically, one or two devices from start to lift saturation errors until the data flows become unnecessary.  In addition, I also sometimes experience what is described as a ghost mouse problem.  My mouse starts moving and clicking on its own (opening programs, windows resizing, etc...).  I guess that's probably the USB driver listens outside.  The only way to stop it is to disconnect all the USB devices on the machine.

Someone knows something like that before?  Can anyone suggest how disturbing these questions?  I'm kind of at a loss on what to do?

I have no real information on your specific problems.  But, your computer will probably several USB controllers and you try to plug your controllers separate hubs to divide the load to the usb.  It might take a bit to search a manual or online to see which ports belong to which controller.
