• Satellite L300-215 - Webcam not working not

  The webcam on my Satellite L300-215 did not work because I downloaded the new software of Toshiba months ago.

  I used to participate in the "Toshiba Linux users' mailing list, but never had advice windows on it.

  I own a 1670 CD Satellite, which belongs to the ' 1670 CD / 1690 CDT "series.

  At the time, I want to overclock this pretty 550 Mhz machine, because it comes with a processor Intel Celeron Coppermine of good potential.

  Well, then, there is a problem with the flashing file I want to run on the laptop.

• Experience with the service coverage in Bulgaria

  I am one of the sysadmins of a large international company, which has offices in Sofia. Bulgaria.
  I would like to share my experience with the Toshiba products and service coverage in Bulgaria.

  Months ago, we bought an external USB hard drive - STORE. E PARTNER 2.5 500 GB USB 3.0 P/N PA427E-1HE0. After you have deployed the HARD drive, I noticed that the computer constantly loses / restores the connection to the external drive.

  As I have suggested that the cable is not inserted properly, I just pulled the cable to the USB connector to check that it fits fully into the socket. To my surprise the just USB connector broke and fell inside the HARD drive chassis. In my opinion, this is a factory default, a badly welded connector.

  We talked to the service allowed in Bulgaria: STEMO and they sent the disc with a protocol that it is a physical damage that violates the terms of warranty service.
  I can't imagine a way to prove in this case that we have not jumped on this HARD drive and that's the way it came from the box... We went to buy Hitachi after this case, and I can say that we had not a single complaint of users or technical staff.

  I would like to say that it was really a bad surprise for me that a multinational company could offer this customer service the poor in Bulgaria, especially given a STEMO dealer who are so famous here for their complete lack of quality of service and poor standards.

  This will avoid for sure choose me no matter what other Toshiba products in the future.

  Sorry to hear about this. It is very unfortunate to have such an experience with the authorized service provider but I n t think that such a negative experience such influence negative on you.
  One issue doesn't mean Toshiba products are bad.

  You know very well that Toshiba is one of the largest companies for HER and material production in general. A few production errors can happen to anyone.

  Problem is that many people don t care much material and very often some hardware components can be damaged very easily. Can you imagine how much money Toshiba or any other hardware manufacturer will fix these issues where everybody says it's lack of production?

  On a path, I can understand you, but otherwise I can understand Toshiba to be skeptical about these mechanical defects. You as an expert in computer SCIENCE know these issues. Can you imagine how you will react when you give your new notebook your co-worker and a few weeks later it brings you with broken keyboard? I don t think you will accept his argument on construction of bad keyboard.

  You know that's not easy to discuss these issues.

  I was really intrigued with a capacity of DIAdem data mining and I was wondering if anyone has reference in which information is about how data must be save access of multiple users.

  Here's a quick example of how I see using DIAdem data mining capability.

  I work with several engineers and we are all data conditioning similar test of a variety of tests.  Usually each every engineer save its air-conditioned data wherever he chooses.  What I consider, it is that all the technical staff to save test data in a centralized location.  Save the data in a common location would allow me to use DIAdem to browse the data of similar test on the basis of test criteria.

  I guess my question is I go about it the right way.  How is it difficult to implement tiara to mine the data of multiple users, using a centralized network location?

  Hello.  The hard drive on my 14-b031US failed after less than 2.5 years, given all our data with it.  I bought

  a new hard drive installed and then installed Windows 7 Professional (a copy of the new and legitimate).    The previous operating system on this laptop is a version of Windows 7, installed by the technical staff of my previous company.

  Unfortunately now Windows says that ALL his drivers are missing (Bluetooth, Ethernet, network, PCI, PCI Simple,

  SM Bus, USB controller, unknown device).  I can't access the Internet, of course, without a network card.  The HP site provides only the drivers for Windows 8, not Windows 7.   What should I do?  Where can I get the drivers?

• Call of node on COM DLL can not configure the entry correctly

  I have a COM DLL, I try to use LV2013 32 bit. I managed to go as far as the ActiveX 'Automation open' and an invoke node. This makes me a list of parameters which resembles right (input and output), but I don't know that the real data types are correct.

  I have the DLL, a file header and an IDL file and 2 different bits of documentation (not everything agree).

  I am train to begin just to connect to the server by using the code below (see test Server Copnnect via dll.png)

  It does not work telling me that I have the incorrect input parameters.

  One of the pieces of documentation lists the parameters like:

  char * pConnection required

  long ITimeout optionally

  char * pOption in option

  but the idl file:

  HRESULT ConnectServer([in] CHAR *szPara)

  and the header file:

  virtual / * [helpstring] * / HRESULT STDMETHODCALLTYPE ConnectServer (/ * [in] * / CHAR __RPC_FAR * szPara) = 0;

  I would have thought the idl files and header would be more reliable but then why it the method has 3 parameters?

  Also the data types seem not fair.

  szPara must be a pointer which should be Unlt32 for a 32-bit program (which it is), but the data type reports as an I8 (8-bit integer). the szPara should contain txt connection such as "eth: 10.10.10.10:5000.

  I tried to create a string for the data pointer, but it does not work. I tried the typecasting of the I8 but that kills my data and I find zero to the dll. I tried then as above but the wind upward with points of constraint. I need to convert my multiple byte pointer? (Don't know how to do this).

  I looked at lots of other calls to invoke node in the same DLL and the direction of the setting always seems correct data types do not change (they are not all integer values, some report as real numbers) so it looks like the invoke node works but I do not know how to drive.

  Am I missing something obvious?

  A list of the function in the DLL names is also useful to diagnose the problem at hand as would be a list of random characters to understand one language: Niente, Nada!

  It's even worse than having just a header for a standard C DLL file, which can at least tell a little about the parameters, but C syntax is notoriously inadequate to describe the real API in a way disambigous.

  Here, ' char * name "can be a string, a single character, passed by reference, or a byte array. ' void * name "is even more ambiguous, since it could be basically anything! That's why Microsoft created ActiveX with a typelibrary interface that describes the functions much more in detail, and this typelibrary is LabVIEW (and Visual Basic and other languages 'Visual') has access to build the diagram nodes that have access to the methods and properties of an ActiveX object. If this type library is wrong there is nothing you can do in LabVIEW to make it work in any case except write a C++ wrapper that access the object ActiveX and translated them into a correct ActiveX interface. The reason is that end allows access to the typelibrary but as a descending C real also lets you do all the hard programming each detail explicitedly.

  As for your problem with the Denso library that will look much like the library in itself is bad, but that they forgot to certain attribute of the document or registry value that must be set in order to achieve unity of the robot in remote mode. Manufacturers of robotic are notorious for offering little support in access to their material to third-party applications. If they have a library at all so he has often paralyzed and hampered with these small disadvantages and problems.

  But trying to access an interface poorly documented to work around this limitation is very likely going to be an exercise even more frustrating. Simply being able to access their obviously badly designed interface you will probably run in a lot more problems. These interfaces at some point it will take magic numbers like parameter as save addresses to write specific values in and I'd be surprised if this documentation is more detailed on details such as the 'official' library is, what they offer for LabVIEW.

  You may want what all the bad talk about trying to take away the joy of having a fully working for your problem solution, but believe me, I've been there and dealt with the robotic interfaces and the only way that really works in the long term is to find the guy who knows and let them know what save the address must be tickled to make the LabVIEW interface works the way you want.

  I still have a problem of my printer with a new router connection. My printer is a HP Photosmart B110 series. I don't know how to get the printer connected to the system. I was able to add the printer, but then get an error message to print the test page. Somehow the printer is not to talk to the router? I need to be told what to do in simple terms - no complicated words. I gave up on a response to a similar question that was ansered in terms of settings and SSID. I don't know what these words mean! Please can someone tell me what to do with the printer. I have access to the internet with the new router so that part is OK. I tried to add a new printer, but it doesn't recognize it.

  Update this post started by me:

  I've had my laptop repaired yesterday from my city (Chennai, India). I'm not 100% satisfied with what the personal service of a Center (ABM Infotech at Chepauk Wallajah Road; ( www.abminfotech.com) talked to me about how it was fixed, because I could not find any word that looks like in here or elsewhere when I looked up briefly. They said that the "controller of the Commission" was re-worked. But that I am said on this subject because I have to go for an expensive replacement of motherboard full which same service center and a few others had recommended option available.

  After I did my previous post on this topic, I had taken my T42p to Lenovo service center near may 28, they suggested either the motherboard-specific section should be re-worked (who aren't there, they suggested me to go to ABM) or motherboard must be replaced (what they do there itself). I chose to go to ABM and given my laptop it. The next day they called me and told the same 2 options and gave me a ballpark cost for two (INR 4 250 to rework) and INR 11,000 for the replacement of the card mother and asked for about 5 days for this work. 1 USD = approx. 48 INR I gave my consent at once, but asked to try first to rework it because I was told that there is no risk for me. If the recovery is unsuccessful, they'll just do the replacement of the motherboard @ 11 k. 4-5 days later they called again on 4 May and rework said was apparently not work they will be if a few days more data or else will go with replacing the motherboard. I was ok with the no. days later after many days more and a couple of Sulvre ups by phone in the meantime, 16 - Jun ABM called me again and rework said was done successfully and laptop was ready to be recovered. I went and found it to work well as before. So paid INR 4 250 and came back. Since 2 days I use the machine and everything seems OK too.

  The only change I see is a little more heat in the lower part from the days so I used it in the United States for 8-9 months. Probably, I guess this is due to differences in climate, Minnesota time ambient 10s and 20s and here is 35 + (Celsius). The service center has been useful to answer my technical questions through technical staff, while the people at the front desk were not able to answer correctly.

  PS: Today I have a local mobile pad cooling with a couple of fans in it and lots of space downstairs, I hope that it soothes the machine a bit more the next few days w/r/t more heating.

• Problem of recovery DVDs

  I bought the new DVD restore disc, I followed the instructions of installation to the letter, but after the last (3rd) dvd load I get a box called reducer with the following message "C:\RM\image\TempBase-win is not found."

  It's on a Pavilion dv5-2132dx laptop. If anyone can help.

  Not sure why, but after more than 3 times a retry, restored and started the system image. What a complete loss of confidence, I have HP.  Something that should have taken a week to receive the DVD and install took more then 3 weeks.  HP needs some of its suppport commit its technical staff for troubleshooting system failures that they sell as achievable restorations.  Sorry for the frustration and purge.

If top, someone had an idea is why my cd/dvd driver seems not to recognize some CD (for example the Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War-Soulstorm and games of Age of Mythology), that would be great.
