  According to the accessories page and the sales staff that I made the purchase, control remote RMT-DSLR1 release, will work with my new NEX-5 camera.

  The camera has an IR receiver, as shown in the manual, and the remote control sends an IR signal, such as reported by an infrared receiver that is placed close to the camera. (The battery in the remote tests as full power).

  However, the triggering of the shutter, or the release of 2 seconds works from the remote control.

  The manual is silent on the use of a remote control, and there seems to be nothing in the menu of the camera about any installation required.

  The RMT-DSLR1 is certainly compatible with the NEX-5 - but be sure that the drive Mode setting is on the remote control. Go to the Menu and select 'Camera', then select 'Drive' Mode - then select "Remote Cdr".

  Hi all! I'm controlling my DA5800 STR using the Remote ES app but neither my iOS device sees the receiver OR my Sony Android Tablet S. So I figure it must be the network set up. I use a cable modem Motorola connected to an Apple Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable. The receiver is connected to the router, as shown in the manual.

  Please check the network settings on the receiver ARE and confirm that the 'external control' is active, as well as the "relief network" that will allow the application ARE the 'waking up' the unit from standby mode.

  Also check that your phone is connected to the same wireless network, and IP addresses of the phone and the receiver are in the same subnet / IP Range. UpNp must also be enabled in the settings of the router.

  If you have verifed that these settings are correct, then the question is perhaps with the router where it does not send data to the local discovery of uPnP network devices. A simple power reset or resetting the router will sometimes force the router to send back data and should fix the problem if that is the case.

  Your Blu - Ray player's remote control is not compatible with the TV you have. You can refer to page 43 of the operating manual for a list of compatible televisions.

• Can I use the supplied remote Commander RMT-835 with the 18-200 on NEX-VG30 powerzoom?

  The NEX VG30 comes with the SALT-PZ18200, which has an electronic zoom that can be controlled by a lever on the lens and the camera. The camera also comes with the IR remote control RMT-835, which has a zoom button (which works on the other handycam to control the zoom). Now can I use the RMT-835 to zoom with the SALT-P18200 on the VG30 NEX? Can someone try that already has the VG30?

  I tested the SELP-18200 on NEX-VG30 zoom control, and the RMT-835 zoom buttons can control the motorized zoom.

  By default, the remote control and the camera body zoom controls activate digital zoom. You must go on [MENU] - [camera/mic] - [Zoom lever] and select [Power Zoom] so that you can control the power via the remote control zoom and the camera body.

• Remote control Medai vs STR-DN1040 cannot change the source?

  I just installed my Sony STR-DN1040 home theater receiver and have a few questions about the media remote ap...

  (1) I have it all connected and registered and the ap is functional, but in "remote mode", it lists all entries in my (BD, cable/satellite, DVD, FM, etc) as buttons, I can support on and they light up and make a tone of confirmation on my iPhone 4s, but they do not change the source to the receiver.  The rest of the features seem to work and if I use the media remote ap for go to the GUI menu, I can arrow over 'look' and then select a source, and that works fine.  The problem is when you are in another room and want to power on the receiver, then choose an audio source and play without having to turn on the TV or be in this room, you can't (or at least I can't) because the hot-key source on the ap do nothing.  What did I miss?

  (2) I have programeed the 1040's physical remote to control my Samsung Blu - Ray player.  The Medai remote access point can now also control it, or is the 1040's remote physical a completely separate device?

  The STRDN1040 was intended to be used with the Sony 'TV Sideview demand' which includes many new features and replace the existing approx. remote media TV Sideview will will allow you to switch between inputs, however there is no visual feedback in the app, so you'll need visibility on the front panel of the receiver or GUI.

  The application will not work to control your player of Samsung BD. The reason is that you have programmed the 1040's physical remote to control the player of comic book via codes IR (infrared), these codes resident in actual distance rather than the receiver and the orders are sent directly from the 1040's remote control.

  Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support for remote controls designed by other manufacturers. Manufacturers may set different code numbers in their remote controls to identify the infrared (IR) signal of a Sony product. Thus, the code number used to operate a Sony product in one remote can be different from the one used by another.

  I wonder if the rmn - u1 remote will never get an update to give similar wifi remote for iphone applications for receivers of str and blue ray players. I currently have all of this in one remote, but find myself with my iphone for wifi on my receiver strdn1020 and s590 blu - ray player, then on the NMR remote remote - u1 for all my activities with my speakers sans300 and nas-sv20i speaker/Server homeshare. It would be nice if the rmn - u1 added a wifi remote for strdn1020 and blu ray. Otherwise, sony remind me why I paid $299 for this remote when I'm better off using the free app on my phone?

  But the Qosmio X 770 PSBY5K is the same model as a European model in the PSBY5E series
