strange actions about automatic updates

twice, now, I selected the automatic updates offered before the machine turns off during the night...

I return to the computer nine hours later... It is still, and the legend on the screen says "do not turn off your work, it will turn off"... it says ALSO "Update 1 of 11.." ... but he NEVER advances past 1. no matter how long I let it run...

Basically what the _ going on here?

Here are two other threads pointing out somewhat similar problems:

In some cases, Cineform/GoPro participated; these cases solved by uninstalling the components from Cineform. In others, renaming or deleting the folder 'Profile-' did the trick; It's here:... \Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\7.0\

If these measures do not work for you, please report what graphics card you have and which version of Mac OS x, you're on.

In addition, exactly what version of body is installed? You are referring to the "recent update", but it is useful to know which version exactly, as shown in the about box.

Firefox 4 versions and later, do not run on a PowerPC Mac and require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

The latest support for your operating system version is 3.6.26 , you are fully updated.

  • Thunderbird automatically updated to version 24.6.0. Now, when you start, the program hangs for about 15 seconds before displaying emails, etc..

Annoying that the default option is automatically update, and makes this automatic upgrade then the program 10 x worse.

Okay, it looks like that I myself worked it. Thunderbird has been using the system proxy. When I turned off this proxy, the problem disappeared. My guess is that when the new version has been installed, it has redone the way to connect to the internet and inherited the System Proxy settings settings - even if he didn't need to use these proxy for mail settings.

  • strange exclusions to the automatic updates of the priority of Microsoft

Why some updates for Security Essentials virus definition files install not as priority updates automatically and don't end up with a Custom update scan. They appear under the software, such as the definition of KB972696 1.95.30.0 just did it for me. I had a few others do as well, but only a few. Maybe once a month?

My pc works fine and the Microsoft Update feature works very well. But I don't think that this is just update only this and a few other updates if I manually log on to the site to update and choose a custom scan then select this update under thesoftware - in option and choose to install it.

    Yes.

From time to time, a new version of MSE is available. When this happens:

    1. the version upgrade will be offered as an optional update when you run a manual check for updates; or...

    2. the icon of "castle" MSE in Notification area changes from green to orange. When you click the icon, you'll see a prompt to install the new version; but...

    3. the upgrade will NOT be installed automatically through automatic updates.

How to change your Automatic Updates settings by using Windows Security Center

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/875349

  • This isn't really a question. It is a statement about the automatic update.

I had to disable automatic update.  03:00 as this update automatic AM started.  When I woke up, my computer was messed up.  Programs would not open, 8% of items in memory have disappeared and I have no internet.  I was able to fix all of this except internet.  For the internet I had to call my provider.  In all it took me 12 1/2 hours to get everything straightened out.  I will not use auto update ever!

I use updates automatic for a long time, have never known the problem you did. Therefore, I think that there was another problem affecting your pc. You have now installed the updates again? The ones I had at 03:00 today installed without problem.

  • Microsoft Management Console error: this function is not supported on this system. Also noticed that the automatic updates did not install it and returned error 80070005.

Original title: Microsoft Management Console this feature only is not supported on this system

I am running Vista 32 bit Business since an administrator account.

Recently, I noticed that the automatic updates did not install it and returned error 80070005.   After investigation, I found that I could not open mmc at all and always get the message "this function no is not supported on this system.  No major changes have been made to the configuration to trigger it and I can't watch the event log because it is in the MMC.
I have studied this question in line and tool the following actions, which none worked:
carried out a complete antivirus scan (I use Commodo internet security)
    created another account administrator
    has run SFC (no problem)
has run the registry cleaner (no problem)
has run msconfig.exe and disabled all the startup process
updated windows right click and run as administrator
Started in safe mode and tried all above
After that, I don't know where to go... it doesn't seem to be a download for Windows vista to reinstall mmc.
I have about 50 updates critical, sitting in my windows update that can not install because of this problem.  Can anyone help?
    Jeff

    Hello Helpmehelpme,

First, I would check since it is professional Vista was that computer on a field of work or it was already on an area of work? There may be group policies that are in place that prevent to run MMC.

When did start to happening? Is there anything new on the system which has been introduced into the environment (software, hardware)?

This thread gives a few steps trying to the original poster that you can't have.

  • Sudden appearance of error STOP C000021A after automatic update of Windows

Everyone knows a sudden STOP errors after that update Microsoft has done for his actions in the background? I'm setting up a SL500 for a client who has crashed all of a sudden with a STOP C000021A error. This error number (and the minidump file) point about csrss.exe crashing. The machine is no longer usable in 'normal' mode but it does not start in "safe" mode A review of the microsoft update log file reports the accident happening right after that the update ran. Before I nuke XP and opt for a restore to factory (as well as reinstall/configuration) I would like to know if others have seen this happen recently.

In response to my own question here: I managed to do that work again. It turns out that the automatic update is more or less malware Microsoft's "Office Genuine Advantage". Remember, once again, why people accept this type of behavior of a business entity... No, not only to accept but reward in continuing to do business with them. Something in the water maybe?

  • Stop the automatic updates.

I won't use Firefox 29 or newer to the interface introduced v29 shit it's user friendly and bring some missing thing the v28 (they may be survivals of an older profile), no. Restorer Classic theme does not bring them back.
The above is here simply to try to stop suggestions on the use of v29

I tried to go into the menu options Firefox > Options > advanced > never search for updates, but this does not prevent updates.
I had to uninstall Firefox 29 5 times today, each time after he said to "never check updates."

Not to start a war here, but Mozilla won't return to the entire user interface that they spent 2 years working on. That would be a downgrade to them. Mozilla is all pushing forward. Some users may the hate, but it's that there are other alternatives such as the Restorer of classic theme for people who dislike the design Australis.

There is a way to disable updates by going through the menu Options, but after this, when you go to help > on Firefox, it would update regardless of this setting.
    2 methods here, pick a.
You can set these prefs in about:config to turn off the automatic update:

    App.Update.auto - false

    App.Update.Enabled - false

    App.Update.Silent - false

Or you can use this method to do it for you:
You can create a new file in a text editor (default values are: Notepad of Windows, TextEdit for Mac and Linux text editor) called user.js . When you save user.js, is ensure that it's file type is all FILES like leaving as it's going to add the extension .txt (user.js.txt) and it will not work. Place this file in your profile folder. See link below to find out how to access the file

After you create the folder, simply add the following to your user.js file, save and close, restart Firefox

    // turn off application updates:
    user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);
