Strange banding by painting in Adobe Photoshop.

I'm getting strange bands by painting in photoshop, even with the stock brushes. It happens when I use soft brushes and try to paint a smooth gradient. The banding is worst in 8 - bit, better in 32-bit, but remains a problem. The attached picture is 32-bit 1920 X 1080 and 300 dpi. I'm on an iMac of 2014, 27-inch new cintiq HD, running the latest version of Photoshop CC 2015 and OS X El Capitan. Help, please!Screen Shot 2016-03-16 at 1.27.21 PM.png

I still think that you should stop worrying and just add a little noise to blunt it. Some of the bands on the screen are inevitable on the images like that. Work in 16 bit (or 32) and convert to 8 at the end. avoid a jpeg, who introduced bands SE: color for most of the bands because the component of chroma is compressed a lot more aggressive than the brightness component.

Most of the banding see you is in the display system. It may occur in the screen itself, or in the display profile. But by far the most common cause is research of calibration tables in the video (not to be confused with profile) card. This is avoided with hardware calibration extended internal monitor LUT.

A photograph has always enough noise to break up of the band. But in a synthetic image, add a little.

BTW some applications apply dithering to output standard 8 bit, which will prevent the banding. Lightroom for this (which misled many believe it now has 10-bit support, which it is not). But if some applications look better than others, this is perhaps the reason why, in order to not jump to conclusions.

I touched the "combination" open Adobe photoshop and choose 'Paste'... it is grayed out.

I open windows paint and do the same thing and that's where... Even tried MS office/word...nothing in dough.

I would use APS as my screenshot by default, but nobody seems to know how to make changes to the "prtscr" function / program.

    Cheers, Craig

    Hi Craig,.

Please provide a detailed account of your question. You, the efforts are very much appreciated!

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    a. you did any important changes made to the computer just before the problem occurred?

    b. what fixit did you run, when you say "Run FIXIT"?

You have tried most of the linear troubleshooting, it can be concluded that the question could arise also following a conflict of third-party software that impede the performance of Adobe Photoshop CC. To diagnose the problem, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

It is possible that the application has not been uninstalled properly and have hampered after the new installation. I suggest to try to start the next fixit and then try to install the program Photoshop CC.

The problems that the programs cannot be installed or uninstalled

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

The question could also arise due to a conflict of third-party software, so, I would be as you suggest clean boot of the system once and then try to install the program in a boot environment.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

If the problem does not occur in the boot, you can determine which applications and services on the computer is causing this issue.

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

  • Cannot install Adobe Photoshop

I have a new amd64 to computer, 2 TB of storage, 8 GB of RAM, Windows 7, and I want to install Adobe Photoshop 7.0. When I tried, I got the message: you currently have Adobe PhotoShop Scratch primary and main Windows swap file on the same volume that may result in reduced performance. It is recommended that you set volume of Adobe PhotoShop Scratch primary to be on a different volume, preferably on another physical drive'.

Then I get another message: "could not initialize PhotoShop for scratch disks are full."

The program closes automatically. Strangely, Adobe Image Ready seems to work very well, but the main program is not. I have tried holding the Ctrl, Alt, Shift keys while the program was running, but that did not help.

Could you possibly give me step by step instructions on how to fix? I am computer illiterate. Thank you.

    What is personal

    E. Fred

    Hello Iluvpharmacy,

You can consult the following site that describes the error that you are experiencing with Photoshop 7.
    http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/Photoshop/f/scratchdisk.htm

Article: it is also possible to get the error "scratch disk is full", even if the disk hard scratch has free space. It's because Photoshop requires contiguous, not fragmented free space on the disk hard scratch. If you get the "scratch disk is full" error message and your drive hard scratch shows a good amount of free space, you may need to run a disk defragmentation utility.

If it does not help your question, you can post your question in the Adobe Community Forums for assistance.

    I hope this helps.

Adobe photoshop elements 3 in running on Windows 7 and the cursor is split into three pieces.  Tools (pencil, paint.. brush.etc) have lost all precision.  The display will show an additional benefit around photographs that will not disappear or cannot be changed.  Not had this problem with Windows XP.

I'm not surprised. That Photoshop Elements 8 officially supports Windows 7 fully. PSE7 is known to work on Windows 7.

If you get PSE3 runs correctly, then good luck to you, but personally I would upgrade. All the answers and suggestions are provided by an enthusiastic amateur and are therefore no explicit or implicit guarantee. Basically, you use my suggestions at your own risk.

  • 3D does not work in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015

3D has worked on my Mac Air in 2012. The 3D functionality worked for me when I used Photoshop CS6 extended. He never said that my graphics card any problem. This annoys me especially because Cinema 4 d R17 works which is even better for rendering and sculpture and didn't tell me that my graphics card can be "exceeded". I sometimes use the 3D rendering engine of the Photoshops to make some of my just 3D objects because it was more convenient. But no more.

I didn't know until I did some checking, but whenever someone complains about the 3D plugins, something is wrong.

Chris Cox programs Photoshop and knows what needs to be in the reporting system.

It's sad to say, you have a fake copy and we cannot fix this.

  • "Adobe Photoshop CC has stopped working" when you access adjustments

I get this message "Adobe Photoshop CC has stopped working".

I've done everything there is on the help site. Still no luck. Here's what happens:

Photoshop opens and I can work with it. It seems that almost all functions work perfectly, HOWEVER... When I try to access an adjustment layer, say the levels, then Photoshop will stop. Strangely, if I select the black and white adjustment layer, it WORKS? The OTHERS don't.

    My system:

    Windows 7 Service pack 1

    740 NVIDIA graphics card

Let me know if you need more details.

    Cheers, Craig

Since you get an 0xc0000005 error code, you can deal with some Windows system files to address faulty. A lot of Photoshop depends on the use of the existing Windows files to work. It could be that the files requiring these specific adjustments are missing or damaged. Try to run a repair of Windows system (using the SFC Scannow command) or follow the instructions here to reinstall the necessary files: How to remove and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries. • my adobe photoshop cc disappeared after the last update of cc2015

In the most recent date of adobe Photoshop cc 2015 my copy of Adobe Photoshop CC disappeared from previous versions creative cloud.

I always use the version of Photoshop CC sometimes because he had the oil paint filter.  I used it because they stopped to put in CC 2015.

Then, a week or two ago when the new update of CC2015 came out with the girl running down the stairs to the CC 2015 tree just disappeared.  I have

been able to run two copies of the CC of Photoshop and Photoshop CC 2015.  Believe me I am not happy and would like to know if there is anyway

    to retrieve it.

    Hi weskifmtwo,

Please follow the steps to install the previous version of Photoshop.

Check the installation of the previous Version topic: download and install Adobe Creative Cloud apps

The most recent version of Photoshop, it's PS CC 2015 has also filter the oil paint.

    Kind regards

  • where my Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 images are stored?

I feel like a fool, but I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 for years on my PC.  I put the software on an external hard drive that is separate from regular hard drive of my computer, thinking that if my computer goes down, my photos will be safe, assuming that the images were where I put all the software.  Well, my computer is dying, in preparation for a new, I wanted to "Save" my photos, I never tell Photoshop to do when he asked in the past because I think that the pictures ARE saved by being on this external drive.  Anyway, when I looked at the amount of memory is on this external drive (where I also copied my non-critical files from the image), I've seen some photo files but there is no way (depending on which is rated display and the amount of memory used) files of the actual image of my k 10 photos are on this extra external hard drive.  I then tried to 'save' in Photoshop, but he asked me everything first to search for the missing files, which gave rise to a lot of research and then Adobe "not responding."  FYI, when I opened my Gallery of Adobe Photoshop, I can see all my photos, including those that I have edited and saved in the catalog, I can pull things up by tag, etc., as if everything is 'there' and ok.  So, where the hell are the actual files for images in my Gallery of Adobe 'put' when I download in Adobe Photoshop?   I want to assure you that I have back up on something before I get rid of my current computer, but now I don't know where they are in order to save them!  Thanks for any help you can offer.  Sincerely, Luddite

Lots of questions here, let's go step by step.

    carolynw62372360 wrote:

To be precise, you put the 'library' (your image files) on your external hard drive. The 'software' is the program components itself. And Yes, your library is not affected by a failure of your main internal drive.

Well, my computer is dying, in preparation for a new, I wanted to "Save" my photos, I never tell Photoshop to do when he asked in the past because I think that the pictures ARE saved by being on this external drive.

Sorry, another definition of the word: a backup is necessarily a copy (in various forms, but a copy; for example, instead of a pure copy, you can have a zipped copy). This means that if your original disappears, your copy (backup) is available to restore the original. Regardless of the definition of the word, for you, this means that your external hard drive crash has no backup. You lose your entire library.

Anyway, when I looked at the amount of memory is on this external drive (where I also copied my non-critical files from the image), I've seen some photo files but there is no way (depending on which is rated display and the amount of memory used) files of the actual image of my k 10 photos are on this extra external hard drive.

You should be able to see your files of images from Windows Explorer. Your image files are probably under a single master file; This main folder has probably many folders full of files with the extension jpeg. Note that I recommend to set the properties of the files in Explorer to display the file extension. When you select the main folder in Solution Explorer and right-click to select "Properties", you will see the number of files and disk space for these images.

I then tried to 'save' in Photoshop, but he asked me everything first to search for the missing files, which gave rise to a lot of research and then Adobe "not responding."

It is a common situation when the files have been moved, deleted or renamed from the Explorer instead of the Organizer himself. It is strongly recommended to check periodically if the files are missing instead of wait for the moment should be safeguarded.

    Photoshop elements (PSE) knowledge base.

Anyway, even if you have "offline" files, the backup should work. The first step in the backup, calculate disk space needed to contain the copy of image files and the catalog (database) itself.

FYI, when I opened my Gallery of Adobe Photoshop, I can see all my photos, including those that I have edited and saved in the catalog, I can pull things up by tag, etc., as if everything is 'there' and ok.  So, where the hell are the actual files for images in my Gallery of Adobe 'put' when I download in Adobe Photoshop?

When you "import" photos in your catalog, image files are "downloaded" to your computer if it is copied from a card reader or the camera. No copy, if they are already in the drive of your computer. In both cases, an entry is recorded and listed in the catalogue with the location (path) of the file and a very small "thumbnail" is created and included in the vignette "cache" of your catalog folder.

When you browse your pictures, you always have the opportunity to see the "details", "information" for a given file, you know the location, the drive and the path where it is stored.

Just a comparison: a catalog in the Organizer, it's like the brochure catalog used for a Museum of painting. It tells you where to find a painting and shows a small image. If some tables is 'missing' at the Museum because they were absent during the restoration, you will continue to see the small images in the booklet. Ditto for the Organizer: moved the photo from the Explorer files will still show in the catalogue, but with a? sign.

  • Adobe Photoshop Image export causes changes in colors

I just downloaded Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I have not changed the color on my computer settings, or either program. When I open a RAW image in Photoshop color displays correctly. Even if I don't change something on the picture, when I export the photo to Photoshop, the colors change. They seem to be not saturated.

    Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 2.58.25 PM.png

Here is the picture when opened in Photoshop, no retouching.

    Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 2.59.05 PM.png

Here's how the photo will appear when I try to export.

    Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 3.13.53 PM.png

The test format was initially the 'Work CMYK' value. When I change to "Monitor RGB", it appears same as it does when it is exported.

    Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 3.14.16 PM.png

Photo after changing format to test for "Monitor RGB"

    Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 3.14.34 PM.png

Proof of installation always set to "Monitor RGB". Now when I open the photo in Camera Raw, it reappears in natural color. When I close Camera Raw, the color changes it back.

How can I get the image to open in Photoshop, Camera Raw and export all in the same color profile?

Export as bands the icc profile. That's why you see this. Regularly use Save as or save for Web.

The new export module is just finished and should be avoided until it is. She deletes also all metadata such as copyright.

  • Very new to Adobe PhotoShop need help with unlocking of a layer

OK I practice with some instructions and tutorials to familiarize yourself with all the capabilities of Photoshop (Ps) program.  I'm trying to follow these instructions here, How to turn a photo into a painting. CC Adobe Photoshop tutorials however, when I click on the area of layers the bottom appears to be locked? When I click on the new layer appears asking me to name the layer.  I wanted to just follow the instructions Adobe give verbatim but how to unlock it to continue with the other steps in the instructions?  Help, please!

Oh, I forgot to add, I use Windows 7 Ultimate.  Not a Mac.  I'm looking to see how I can unlock this image layer.  the lock icon appears gray?

Looks like you need convert the background into a smart object layer. You can right-click on the layer in the layer panel and choose Convert to smart object, or you can go to the main menu and on the Filter tab, select convert to smart object.

  • Need help: missing Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Quick Selection tool.

    Hello everyone, one

I'm in a strange problem. Tool for the quick selection of my Adobe Photoshop 7.0 is missing. The magic wand is there. But there is no small black arrow on this topic, click and move to the quick selection. There is no way that I can use quick selection. Press the W button opens only the magic wand. I believe that my software is broken. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling software and use custom and made sure all components have been selected during the installation, but it does not help. I tried the regular Setup Install 7.0 as well as creative cloud. For both, the quick selection tool is still missing. If someone could help me solve this problem, it will be very useful.

    Thank you

    Monica Kulkarni

Correct, there is no quick selection tool in Photoshop version 7, The Cloud Creative offers three versions of Photoshop.  Photoshop CS6 version 13, CC Photoshop version 14 and CC 2014 Photoshop version 15 all versions have the quick selection tool.

  • Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Crash at startup when run as administrator no

    Hi all

Having a problem with Photoshop when run as an administrator not on the PC area.

The program crashes as soon as it loads to the top with the following text to the event log:

In our configuration of most of the users on the domain are not admin and students if this isn't really a poisibility to give all users of photoshop admin rights

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi all

Just for anyone else who gets the same question that we have, I think I found the solution, in our case at least.

I ran process monitor again to see if I could spot something strange that Photoshop was trying to do and then I found this:

It seems that Photoshop is trying to create a new file to the root of the directory windows called pslog.txt and when he fails to make the program crashes.

So I created a script that creates this file and then gives all users write access, and this has prevented the crash.

Hope this helps someone else who is in the same situation as us, trying to get the program to run in a domain environment.

  • Why my extension not working on Adobe Photoshop CC 2014?

I have an old extension guideline I've used on the old Adobe Photoshop, but since yesterday, when I've upgraded to Photoshop CC 2014 it installing don't not or working and not showing in my extensions on windows.

    Please can someone help?

    Hello

As reported in other threads, Adobe dropped Flash support in PS CC 2014 extensions. As a result, a very large number of extensions that are Flash-based is more compatible with Photoshop CC 2014. Same Mini Bridge no longer works with PS CC 2014. Some extensions will be rewritten, others do not. You must ask the author of the extension in order to know if a new version comes out. Otherwise, your extension will be usable in Photoshop CC, not Photoshop CC 2014.

It is a very strange decision that causes a lot of harm to many users. But hey, it's Adobe...
