Strange question on Satellite A100 LCD

Hello

I just bought a laptop A-100-599 and I started noticing that after 10 to 15 minutes of the lower part of the screen LCD (one that is close to where it connects with the rest of the computer) starts to overheat to the point where I can see the black plastic of different color close to overheating. The image does not change there are no problems in this area, the laptop freezes not or anything like that.

Is this normal or should I worry? :)

I have Satellite A100-504 in front of me and look at the screen. Everything is ok. Your problem of reading I really do not understand exactly what is happening and what it looks like. It will be very useful to see the picture of it.

Anyway, Satellite A100 is fairly new laptop model and, in my opinion, you should contact the service and show them what is happening here. According to your description, I can't tell if this is normal or not, but it sounds pretty suspect.

    Hello!

I just stumbled upon a curious problem. When I burned a DVD with Nero, it worked fine. 2nd one worked but after the movie about 38 minutes the film just stops playing and consciously light on the DVD recorder. I have already tried Afterburner film and burned another but the two stop playing after 38 minutes (he burned them with another computer and burner: the movies worked).

But then, I noticed many errors in windows journal:
Block damaged in the device \Device\CdRom0.

And another thing I noticed: the s of DVDs were burned at 6 x, not the speed of 8 x burner for this laptop supports.

Does this mean the DVD burner is broken?

    Hello

In my gear, it is usually caused by a scratched or damaged cd. Try to clean it up and see if it helps. If it works fine with some discs then it s not the reader.
Some readers don t accept all media. Many CD and DVD is not compatible, and so the drive burns the files not properly on the CD or DVD.

You can see the different media for similar problems.
A little tip: in the manual, you should find a list of compatible DVD and CD. I think you should try to burn files or movies on one of the mentioned media. Maybe it will work.

  • Bluscreen question on Satellite A100

    Hello
I just both a Satellite A100 - 788, 8 of 10 times when I'm playing something in media player, I get a blue screen with a message about a problem with a file called aativvaxx.dll... IPF in nonpage area... I tried to find a newer driver for the 1400 X ATI card but I have found none.
    Help, please!
    Thanks in advance,
    Eugen

    Hello

    Did you mean the ativvaxx.dll?

I found a useful page that provides unique .dll files:
    http://www.afreedll.com/dll/info/ativvaxx_dll.html

You can try to download this file and could replace the old version with the version you downloaded.
But you should first check if the downloaded file is a newer version and a backup of the file before you replace it with a new copy.

But in general, you should always use the graphics driver from the Toshiba page.
If you want to use a different drivers, you can do so at you own risk.

    Hello

Believe me; I see this error message for the first time.
This certainly isn't a simple error due to software problem, but I think there might be something wrong with the hardware.

But before you contact the ASP in your country, you should check this:

If you are not able to boot in windows, so why you n t try to reinstall the operating system?
Try to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD and check if it of possible to reinstall Windows.
In addition I recommend access to the BIOS and try to pass the default BIOS settings.

  • A few questions about Satellite A100

    "A100" computer laptop with Vista A software? Â £349.00

This is the laptop that I am looking for my partner, but I'm not really savvy, I have a few questions which I hope you can help me with computer.

First of all, my partner has just started a small business and she will need it for email and internet surfing and download songs (Please keep in mind, I don't have a lot of money to play with) this laptop will be all good for her? Speed and a lot of memory is not what really matters.

Secondly, this laptop can burn music and DVDs on a disc?

Third, it is a good price? the laptop is for sale with LITTLEWOODS and I can still go down 10%.

Please help as soon as possible because I need to order it in the next few days, please, do not forget to budget and the need for a half decent mid-range laptop.

Mant thanks for your help in this matter

    Russell

    Hi Russell,

From your description of the use to which this laptop will be, I would have no concern that this should work great. You say exactly what A100 model you propse to buy, but I think they all had an optical drive DVD - RW installed so that they should all be able to burn CDs and DVDs in an adequate way. With regard to Internet access and e-mail, the A100 will be quite able to do both functions.

A £349 price is extremely competitive, given that most of the models seem to retail at around the label has £400 with a 10% discount axtra I would waste no time in pulling it.

By the way, welcome to the forum, it is an excellent source of information and help.

    Kind regards

  • Strange on my Satellite A100 power supply problem

Hi I hope it's just me in Sun.

I plugged my power on my laptop today and found that no power is getting to the laptop. I checked all the obvious things like the fuse and have even tested the output of the power supply with a multimeter and I get what looks like the correct voltage.

However, when the power supply is plugged into my laptop blue "alternating current" does not and windows wants to say I'm running out of battery.

Someone else had this problem? It is a work of repair and return? (I hope really not).

    Thank you

    Doug

    > Is this a work of repair and return
    I'm afraid, m Yes :(

But the question is; malfunction of what part?  :|
Maybe that your inquiry is good and everything is ok with the AC adapter / CC.
This means that there could be something wrong with the laptop itself.

Maybe it's only one loses the connection between the plug and the motherboard or most serious problem as a malfunction electronics power?  :|

Who knows. It of very difficult to say what's wrong without any diagnostic tests
I recommend you contact a technician in your country. He could check the laptop and found much faster fault as a user simply ordinary like you and me.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100 - display balack after replacing the LCD screen

    Hello

So I'm trying to fix a LCD on a Satellite A100. The girl I am set as said she accidentally hit the screen with his hand and became black.

When you turn on the laptop I can here windows activate, nothing is on the LCD screen. It is not the backlight, because I don't see anything on the screen at all. So I bought a replacement LCD screen and that one does not work either. Same question

I think it is the inverter, any suggestions?

    Could be the sensor cover?

    Thank you! Kyle

    Hi Kyle,.

Did you buy this new LCD screen to a service provider authorized? I ask this question because it would be interesting to know if it s a Toshiba valid a party or 3rd party a spare.

Did you check the connection of the LCD cable? There may be a link to lose or the cable itself is touched.
Theoretically, it might be the FL inverter too, but I doubt that. Otherwise, you'd see something on the screen but very dark.

  • Strange behavior USB Flash Drive Satellite A100-626

    Hello

I did install Windows Vista Business Edition on my Satellite A100-626 (PSAA9) following the instructions provided in the Web page of drivers.

So far, everything works as expected, except for one little (or no) question.

When I ask Vista to 'Remove hardware safely' my USB Flash drive, a Popup appears telling me to remove it. So far, so good :D

The only thing is that the flash player is not put out as could be expected and and yellow question mark appears in Device Manager.

Opening of the question mark can read what follows:

"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been developed to remove safely, but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47) To resolve this issue, disconnect the device from your computer and plug it in again. »

Following the instructions above, the light turns off, lol...

Someone else met this strange behavior? If so, any solution?

I tried a few USB flashes that run well on XP and they both do the same thing.

    Thank you, Nuno!

    Hi Nuno

It's very strange. I have the Satellite A100-504 (comes with Windows XP Home edition). Last week, I installed Vista and all the stuff followed Toshiba document instructions facilities. I use the mouse wireless, external HDD USB web cam. With the help of these external devices together I never noticed a similar behavior.

You have the same situation with all the USB ports?

  • Re: Satellite A100 - cannot get video off the LCD screen

Hi, I'm fixing a Satellite A100 for someone. I can't get the video on the LCD display, an external monitor, either the s-video port.
The system turns on and you hear the fans from the looks of the lights, the HDD seems to start windows.
I reinstalled the two RAM modules and tried to use the FN + F5, but no luck.

Is there a common problem with these machines?

    Thanks in advance.

    > Y at - it a common problem with these machines?
Sorry but I don't understand this question. I have 3 years old A100 (PSAA9E) and it works perfectly. If keyboard suddenly stop to answer should I think it may be a common problem with this model of laptop?

Back to your problem: FN + F5 will work if the operating system is fully loaded. You hear sounds? You don't see anything on the screen?
    Experiment with RGB port also.

  • Satellite A100 PSAARA - Questions about RAM, VGA and BIOS

I used Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAARA, now I have a few questions:

    1. I have updated the BIOS for my laptop (new version 6.0 to version 5.10): everything seems to work ok, but after I rebooted the laptop, it automatically connect a black screen with these warning "checksum bad sectors, F1: default settings, F2:..." (remember exactly).
I pressed F1, my Toshiba reboot works ok after that, so there's something wrong with this warning?

    2. I upgraded RAM to 2 GB (1 GB + 1 GB) with the KingMax brand, if the RAM expandable max I can do on my laptop?

    3. This Toshiba laptop use to edge or video card, I check my Nvidia geforce card real estate (laptop) and I saw this: memory: 256 MB + RAM shared memory: 256 MB = 512 MB of total memory?
So: can I upgrade my card graph and maximum card that I can use?

    4. I cannot set 75 Hz for refresh monitor, can see 65 Hz

    Thanks for your help!

    1. try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Then it should work.

    2. the Satellite A100 supports 4 GB max.

    3. No, the graphics card can not be changed. It s soldered on the motherboard and cannot be exchanged.

    4. what internal or external monitor? Monitor internal and other s LCD works best with 60 Hz.

  • Satellite A100-062 - connect via HDMI LCD monitor

    Hello

I wish I could connect my laptop Satellite A100-062 to LCD TV.
The TV has a HDMI input. I understand that I could get a cable to connect DVI to HDMI, but I'm not sure I'd be able to output/DVI laptop computer.

Is it possible to connect the laptop to a TV LCD with HDMI? If so, how would that be better achieved? Do I need a series of cables converters?

Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Concerning
    Ben milk

    Hello

As much as I know this laptop can't stand out DVI, or HDMI port.
It supports only s-video and RGB (monitor) output port.

My Satellite phone supports a HDMI port output. The external monitor supports DVI and HDMI.
I connected my laptop via a DVI-HDMI laptop/DVI HDMI cable on my monitor.

I don't know if there is a RGB to HDMI adapter I doubt m
    But I found another solution;
You can use a cable S-video to SCART and was able to connect the converter as Lindy - SCART to HDMI between laptop and TV or LCD display.
This converter is not cheap, but it s about 120Euros

  • Punkbuster Satellite A100-192 - Call of Duty 4 - questions

I bought call of duty 4 for play online and I m unable to play due to problems with the punkbuster client.
PunkBuster installs with the game itself, but the service does not start.
He thought maybe something to do with the game, so I decided to try another game which uses punkbuster. I decided to try America s army (aa was chosen because it's free) and the same problem occurred. PunkBuster service has not started.

I ve started looking for solutions and I've tried a good number of them.
I first thought that maybe kaspersky 6 is causing the problem so I deleted (first time I stopped it, not help) and did a clean install of the game. That did not help either.
Then I thought that maybe it's my network device causing this (Scientific - Atlanta Webstar 2000 cable modem), nope.
Maybe my network device I use 2 days a week (even if it was obvious that this was not the problem)... zyxel P-660HW-D3 (adsl router). Nothing has changed.

I used the punkbuster web ticket to send them a query, but after three weeks, there is still no response.

Other things I've tried (without success):
-tried to fix punkbuster, in which case the punkbuster has been broken, with the latest version of pbsetup.exe from evenbalance site, also tried to repair with pbsvc.exe
-clean installation (a clean install in fact because I used youruninstaller 2008 to uninstall the previous installation) of the game without the punkbuster, new installation of the punkbuster, added play in manually.
-tried to run punkbuster from inside, the game using the console

Is my model s Toshiba Satellite A100-192 and its system requirements are:
    Intel dual core 2.0 GHz
    1.5 GB OF RAM
    Mobility radeon ATI x 1600 (256 MB)
    etc...
    Running Windows XP home SP2
Basically, the games work very well in single player mode (bright cod4 settings means, aao) is not a sort of plug system problem.

My guess is that somehow punkbuster service conflicts with some Toshiba Utilities and therefore does not start.

If you please try to use punkbuster as search mode client in any search engine and you will find several tips on does not work/client punkbuster. Because of this I really do not think that it has something to do with the Toshiba laptop.

To be honest, your question is for the support of Activision.

  • Question about the Installation of XP on Satellite A100-307

    Hello

I have a Satellite A100-307 with problems to install Windows XP. Model PSAA9E-11F03XFR

The recovery CD is lost and I installed the laptop with a normal CD of Windows XP (sp2).

During the Installation of the monitor is black.

The Installation is without possible recovery CD?

I created an Nlite CD with XP, but the SATA controller not found or the breaking of the Installation.

    Help me, please.

    Vtobi

    Hello

essentially it s possible to install an of a real CD of XP/Vista OS, I think that this is the reason why Toshiba provides drivers on their driver download site.

How do you mean that the screen remains black? More precisely, the description would be better...
Another question: what SATA controller did you slipstreamed on the XP CD? I hope that you´re to the topic the A100 has an older controller (should be an ICH7M).
By the way: have you ever seen this Toshiba document? : http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

  • Re: Satellite A100-803 - CPU Upgrade question

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-803 at the moment. There is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 inside and it is a bit slow. Also, it does not support VT - x extensions.

My idea is to build a simple hobby-server which should run Gentoo with Xen on it. I can buy an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, but there are two things I'd like to know.

1 the bios does support the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
    2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?

    > 1. The bios supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
It is not known to me, but you should check if the chipset supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600. If the chipset does not support this CPU you can not use this CPU in your A100. But if the chipset would support the new CPU then you ve good chances to use this component.

    > 2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?
Hmm, that's a good question; as far as I know the BIOS must support the feature VT - x to use it of course the CPU must support this too so I think that VT - x should be available if the update for Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 would be successful

  • Satellite A100 - Questions about slow start, not in the DMA mode CD drivers

    Hi all

as you can see I have 3 questions:

    1. my Satellite A100-153 starts very slowly (current running avira antivir and sunbelt pfw only like on my other laptop which is older than this one, but not slow start)-anyone has any idea why (I would be very gratefull because I don't have reinstall win and all my stuff)?

2 Nero tells me that my CD is not running in DMA mode - where can I check and fix this?

    3. drivers - am I forced the drivers supported on this site or can I use the drivers directly from the manufacturer (ATI for my graphics card, Intel for my chipset realtek for my sound and so on)?

    Help is welcome!

    Hello

For me, it will be interesting to know what operating system you are using. Anyway, I'll try to give my short opinion on your questions:

-many other factors may be responsible for slow start. It is usually the OS configuration. I'll try to find an interesting article, how to make faster starting and I will post it here for you.

--entrer enter in the device IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers Manager, enter the properties for secondary IDE chanel and open the Advanced Settings tab. Is under transfer mode DMA if available? If this isn't the case, set it to please and after reboot check if the problem persists. DMA if available is usually defined as a default value.

-In general, you can use it but it is well known that manufacturers of graphics card don't support mobile graphics cards and laptop manufacturers are responsible for.

I recommend you to use the Toshiba drivers only. All of these drivers are put to the test.

    Good bye
