(Successfully) installed manually in my history of update update shows as failed, why?

OS:-XP Pro and Office 2003, update KB2676562, one of the aprox 50 installed in a batch failed. Error 0x8007F0DA

I downloaded and installed successfully (it shows in Add or remove) but the website update after scanning my machine it lists as "failed".

What's wrong??

How can I my website updated to recognize that this update is infact successfully installed?

Sorry - I thought :) in Win7, rather than on XP

The list of installed updates as it exists in WinXP is one you have already found in the Add/Remove Programs listing.

If it is listed as installed tehre, then it is :)

If you want to check that all security updates are installed, use Belarc Advisor - www.belarc.com and it lists all installed and a host of other useful information.

  • Automatic Updates keeps asking me to install a patch after it has already been successfully installed

I am asked repeatedly to install IE8 update KB2647516 every time I restart Windows. I have now done this 4 times, as can be verified by my history of update to Windows Update. Also, add/remove programs of control panel shows that this update is installed. I tried to use 'Fix It' of your Windows Update support page. He said he had solved the problem, but I am still being prompted by automatic updates to install this update!

  • Apply SP3 to sp3.cab manually instead of using Windows Update?

The original installation software of my PC included only Service Pack 2.  I used the update to upgrade my machine to SP3.  It took a lot of time (about 90 minutes).  What I would like to know... are the installation of SP3 files downloaded to my machine in a format that would allow me to run the update manually without going through Windows Update.  I found the SP3.cab file on my machine... but it isn't but 22.7 MB while updating told me that the download was (if I remember correctly) 66 MB approximately.  I don't want to download the full blown sp3 (314 mb) and I would like to avoid having to use Windows update to update my machine the next time I have to rebuild this machine.  Any suggestions on the best way to do it?

22 Sp3.cab MB isn't the whole update file, AFAIK. It is not yet a complete file.

My advice would be to let Windows Update to install SP3 if you do want to installation offline.

    KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 installed, but not "seen" by Windows Update

Today (Tuesday 22 may 2012), after seeing the yellow icon in the taskbar, I ran Windows Update and KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 successfully installed, I turned off the PC by clicking on the red icon Turn Off with a shield icon, expected for all 3 updates to install, 4-color and for the PC to stop itself. It took a while, but everything went well. No error message.

After turning on the PC, I went back to Windows Update and was surprised to see Windows Update suggests to install... KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 which is the same three components I have installed successfully.

I ran Microsoft Fix It that 1 issue (update of Windows components needs to be repaired (next line) repair of components Windows Update.) I clicked Next. Everything went well. I had a green check mark 'Fixed '.  I turned off the PC (without having to install 3 updates which I have already installed).

I turned on the PC and went to Windows Update, asking me to install KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073. It's like Windows Update does not "see" that these 3 elements have already been installed.

Note: I have the same problem on another PC. The two PC XP SP3 and are stand-alone PC. One is a desktop computer. The other laptop.

The windows above update keep coming back and will not be installed. If I check the update of victory it will tell me the update is available (no download, already installed on the machine), I so go ahead and install the update. About 2 or 3 minutes later the yellow flag appears indicating that KB2393802 is available.

Let me take you, you are under Windows XP SP3. If true, and only if it is true, the following might help you resolve the issue (which is common for all updates kernel on Windows XP computers):

KB2393802 (MS11-011) is an update of the kernel, and since these are released for Windows XP, MS is not those to install properly for years as soon as it is an OEM System (with OEM drivers) installed on which these kind of updates must be installed on.

To get these updates for Windows XP is installed correctly on these systems, you will need to download the update from download area:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=a511d33a-9ae0-46EE-A225-9d97390de7d1
    * Save * the file in a folder and run the EXE file with the parameter "/ o" (like "/ overwriteOEM"-seehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/262841/en-us for more details on that and other parameters) subsequently.

Suppose you downloaded the English version of KB2393802 in a "Downloads" folder that is located on your C: drive. In this case, please restart Windows Mode safe mode (hit the [F8] key after the BIOS screen occurred while starting your machine). Then enter the following information * including * all blanks and the signs of the quote in "Run" in the start menu and press [Enter] or click OK, then:

    'C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB2393802-x86-ENU.exe' / o

After restarting Windows, the update should not be reaffirmed by WU/AU once again - at least after you visited Windows Update via IE and looked for new updates once more.
