  Hi all

  I had a quick glance to find a solution to a problem I have with Camera RAW in Elements 9. I have a Nikon D3100, so the NEF files. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. When I open a file NAVE that it opens in the editor, not the Camera RAW Plugin. The plugin is listed under help > Plugins... and this is the version 6.4.0.139. Initially, I had the trial version of elements, but bought a converted and activated, copy it. However I uninstalled items since and it reinstalled from the CDROM boxed. Obviously, I ran also all the updates, the main Elements version 9.0.3.

  I'm sure it's something stupid miss me, but any help would be grateful.

  It opens images of D4. Check what version of camera raw you have. Camera raw 8 was installation on versions of 2015 for a reason, and, I think, you need at least 8.4. If you have 8.4 or above, did you use Nikon software to transfer the images? It has been known to corrupt the files of some cameras so PS can not open them.

  One thing I noticed, is that with CS5, when I chose to browse in Mini Bridge while in Photoshop, Bridge opens in the background. In CS6 when I browse in Mini Bridge, ordinary bridge does not, even if I can open the bridge directly from Photoshop. The other strange thing is that I can open Camera Raw mini Bridge, just no ordinary Bridge. I get the same message as others, that the original application of the bridge is not active and that I have to throw a qualifying product at least once in order to open Camera raw.   It's possible you demolished a trial rather than uninstall.  Not sure if that would leave parts of the program which could fault you upward.

  Many users have found that the removal of former tests solved the problem.  But if you can't find one then I am at a loss.

  When I go to go/browse in mini bridge in the Panel there is a notification that says "the bridge must be running to browse files" then a button titled radio "launches bridge.  If you don't get this, it may indicate a bad installation.

  PS Could get conformation on what I don't have yet to see must use mini-Bridge.

  I recently purchased Photoshop elements 13, but it came with Camera Raw Plugin 8.6 and so I couldn't open my NEF in Nikon D750 files.  I followed the instructions I found in this forum to perform an update on Photoshop elements 13. I've also updated the Application Manager.  But when I started Photoshop elements 13 again, he has always shown under help-> Plugin-> Camera Raw, the version was still 8.6.  Can someone tell me what was wrong and what needs to be done to make it work?

  The update in the Help menu works very well for everyone. In the past, with different versions of the PSE, it was sometimes conflicts due to multiple camera raw (Camera Raw.8bi) plugins installed at various locations.

  Troubleshooting steps:

  -do a search for files named 'Camera Raw.8bi'

  - and note the date of their size and file

  These files are installed in different folders, the 9.0 one version is dated April 14, 52, 9 MB. I have 10 different versions for different versions of Photoshop and from PSE6 PSE!

  The update in the Help menu is version 9.0, which is good for your camera.

  This update does not work for version 9.1, necessary for newer devices: a manual installation worked for some users.

  Note that you don't talk to Adobe here, only to other users like you. If you browse through the posts here, you will see that it is usually easier and faster to get an answer here than to try to get help from Adobe in India (though that there are members of staff, post here sometimes). This is especially true if you have problems with the old version of elements.

  Photos does not allow files camera raw to open in another application as raw, JPEG only files.

  You must use file > export > unmodified original Photos in order to get your camera raw files

  I installed my regular SLR to a full frame Nikon D600.  I shot in RAW for a long time and never had a problem with Elements 9 open my RAW by Camera Raw files.  I can't find what version of Camera Raw, I have, but I know that it does not recognize the Nikon D600 because it's so new.  Should what version of Camera Raw I download so it works, or is there a version of Camera Raw that recognizes the D600?  Thanks in advance for your comments.

  Hi Jennifer, you have two options:

  (1) upgrade to PES 11. (2) DOWNLOAD and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the universal Raw format files and Adobe will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for uses in the software of the camera factory)

  Expect Adobe to give all the same features in elements in Photoshop? To the difference in price?

  So my own explanation is that Adobe has selected all "mandatory" functions to "convert" raw files and apply the editing features more important for which there is no equivalent in the element Editor.

  What is missing has at least some kind of equivalent in the editor, and what remains available in ACR is sufficient to apply non-destructive retouching in 90% of the photos in my case (without even opening the editor).

  The editor allows you to edit, save and print files.

  It offers all kinds of other editing tools world (even in 16 bit), it has a lot more power for editing, layers and masks in 8 - bit pixel. It can offer the equivalent of LGV edition, perspective corrections.

  The features 'limited' version of ACR in elements are better strength for me.

  I can't get the Camera Raw dialog to reappear after I open an image as a smart object in Photoshop.

Instead, Photoshop opens what appears to be a copy built of the original image with no editing. It carries the extension .psd, not the usual .psb extension. In addition, any changes to this document and save it has bizarre results on the original image.

  Since I realized this file to open a JPG or PNG (and probably a RAW) as Camera Raw works very well. In other words, I can edit in Camera Raw, and then shift-click to Open the Object and the smart object works fine in Photoshop. It's only when I try to open a PSD file type by using the file > open as... (File type: Camera Raw) I get the weird behavior when I opened CR mods as a smart object. Someone know why it works with a JPG or PNG format, but does not work with a PSD file?

  AFTER THAT I have the JPG or PNG opened as a smart object, I can then save it as a PSD and smart objects work fine.
