Support CPU LAHF/SAHF in Long Mode
Hi guys,.
I try to install esxi on a HP DL380 G4 5 (I know its probably not supported, but it's just for learning). When I run through the installation program, the message I get is:
the system has found a problem on your machine and cannot continue. VMware ESXi cannot run this processor. VMware ESXi requires a 64-bit processor with support for LAHF/SAHF in long Mode.
So I tried to install ESX 4 on this machine that I was sure there 64 Bit CPU. ESX 4 successfully installed which means the processor is capable of 64-bit.
Any ideas how I can get this to work?
Thank you
DrYv
DL380/DL360 G4 models have XEON 64-bit processors. However, these processors do not support Intel VT as well as other features of the new generations of processors. Also, I have some of these models in my lab and run ESXi 4.1 on them (with guests from 32-bit only). Looks like that ESXi 5 requirements that cannot be met by these XEON Processors however. BTW. the last supported version of ESX (i) for G4 models was ESX (i) 3.5

Error starting data recovery - "your CPU does not support long mode.
Hello
When I turn on the VM data recovery, and after that he begins the boot process, it displays a message "your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32-bit distribution"
Data recovery is installed on an ESX 4.0 update1 then the ESX is installed on a VMware Workstation 6.5.2 as a virtual machine in my home test environment.
My processor is a 64 bit CPU (AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core).
I wonder if this message is because the ESX is running in a virtual machine on the workstation may be that it not only Duke that the processor is a 64-bit?
Someone at - he of the idea?
Thank you
Marcos
You can run the 64-bit if clients your ESX is a virtual machine. VMware Workstation does not pass through the VT extensions that are necessary for the performance of a 64-bit as VDR host.

After the start of the guest, I get only the Message: "your CPU does not support long Mode. Use a 32-bit Distribution"
The fool is, when I boot the direkt ServerHardware with this installation of EL HR CD, the installer runs fine!
So what is happening here?
Any clue?

You may need to test if:
(a) you run a review of 'good' (in terms of supported 64-bit comments) CPU (for example, several AMD chips have been officially ranked 'not kosher' VMware because of the inadequate support of segmentation) - see http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=1901 for more details.
(b) AMD - V / Pacifica (VT if it is an Intel CPU) is not disabled in the BIOS of the computer.

your processor does not support long mode. use a 32-bit Vmware Data Recovery distribution
Hi all
When I tried to start VM in Vmware Data recovery, her gives me error as
"your cpu does not support long mode. use a 32-bit distribution"
I tried searching for the 32-bit version of data recovery, but not able to find out.
Help, please

You can add a 64-bit host to a virtualized session of ESXi. The ability of VT is not transmitted to a guest operating system.

VMplayer "Binary translation - long mode" error on the new ZBook 15 G2 w / i7-4810MQ
I installed VMplayer 5.0.x and attempted to load an image of Machine virtual existing Win7Pro 64 and got: "binary translation is incompatible with the long mode on this platform. Long mode off. Without the support of the long mode, the virtual machine will not be able to run 64-bit code. "For more information see http://vmware.com/info?id=152 .
Passed 64-bit compatibility check (referenced in the link): ' this machine is capable of runnning a 64 bit comments under this product VMware operating system. "
I tried to reinstall the operating system as a new virtual machine and got the same error message.
VMware docs see firmware/BIOS, does not support the VT CPU features:
"Intel processors require an EM64T and VT support in the chip and in the BIOS.
Note: If VT is enabled on an ESX host, the vmx flag is located in/proc/cpuinfo. {LINUX OS}
Intel EM64T processors do not have segmentation support in long mode. If the Intel EM64T CPU is VT-capable, it comes with support for hardware virtualization (Intel Virtualization Technology). This support for hardware virtualization allows VMware circumvent the lack of segmentation, which allows to run 64-bit on taking VT processors operating systems support Intel EM64T.
Notes:
- The firmware/BIOS support is required to enable Intel virtualization technology. Some systems (especially laptops) do not have the necessary firmware/BIOS support to enable Intel virtualization technology and cannot run 64-bit operating systems. »
The ZBook 15 G2 w / i7-4810MQ CPU supports 64-bit virtualization? Ideas or experience?
I feel a little embarrassed... I had been in the BIOS Setup but have not seen the VM options under "Advanced". I turned on the features I needed.

I am to evaluate the 30 day trial of Vmware WorkStation 7. I virtualized Windows 7 computer and created a virtual WorkStation 7 machine. However, I can not start the virtual machine. I get an error message that says that long mode is disabled and a virtual machine with 64-bit code will not work. Is this a limitation of 7 WorkStation or a limitation of the trial version of 30 days or something. Can someone explain to me what is happening?
I have a similar problem... but I will post that in another topic.
First, go to the Advanced BIOS menu
Select the advanced TAB
Configuration of the CPU
Use the arrow down and highlight these -.
Execute Disable Bit - disabled
Intel virtualization technology - to activate
F10 to save and reboot.
When it restarts, press the power button so it stops completely. To do a cold start.
Once back, you should see the instructions VT - X and EM64T supported by your CPU. By controlling a tool called CPU - Z here http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.58-setup-en.exe
Try and run your VM.

Just to clarify whenever I have uninstall I'm your site troubleshooting steps:
(1) Uninstall using Add/Remove program of the program and features
(2) run the installer with clean / change
I do above steps as an administrator and restart after each step.
On top I have delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files (x 86) folder \Common Files\VMware
File C:\ProgramData\VMware
File C:\Users\Ivana\AppData\Local\VMware

File C:\Users\Ivana\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware-Ivana

Do you know how can I fix a fatal error (mks)?
The same installation works fine on HP with Windows 7, i.e. copy of VM for HP Quality Center is ok.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Usually, this is caused by outdated or incompatible graphics drivers on your host. I expect that the latest drivers for your integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 would be probably already delivered through Windows Update, however. Could be interesting to see if there is an optional update in your Windows Update list to get a new graphics driver.
Otherwise, you can try the problem by disabling 3D graphic acceleration: from the VM menu, select settings..., and then in the list of material , choose display. Clear (uncheck) the box 3D graphic acceleration .
I hope this helps!

CPU replacement
Hello! I replace the CPU in my HP P6310F. According to this literature, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01949155 , I have an AMD Phenom II X 4 Quad-Core 9xx/9xxe/8xx (Deneb). My understanding has always been that "9xx" means any phenom II in the class of the 900 series.
I bought a retail Phenom II X 4 965 Black Edition, part HDZ965FBGMBOX number, installed and get the error message: CPU support is not installed message. After searching and reading about the error message and other messages, it seems it might be due to the 'black edition' and/or because it is 125 watts. It was the answer to a few others in the same situation as me.
Can you please tell me why this CPU is not compatible and please help me with a list of compatible CPU?
This is also in the 9xx series, but is it at 125W
HDZ955FBK4DGM AMD Phenom II X processor 4 955 - Quad Core, 6 MB of Cache L3, 2 MB L2 Cache, 3.20 GHz, Socket AM3, 125W, fanless, OEM
This lies in the 9xx series and is 95W
AMD HDX945WFGIBOX Phenom II X 4 945 Quad Core Processor - 3.00 GHz, 6 MB of Cache, bus front to 2000 MHz (4000 MT/s), retail, Socket AM3, processor with fan
The stock processor is an AMD Athlon II X 4 630, 95W
I can provide any other information you may need, thank you very much!
There is no AMD Black Edition CPU that are compatible with any PC HP desktop.
That's what the problem is related to. Black Edition CPU are special processors who have discovered the multipliers for amateur quality motherboards. You could not access the multipliers to overclock the CPU with the motherboard you have installed it anyway.
Even if you choose, buy and install one of the microprocessors in maintenance & service Guide there is no guarantee HP which will be exploited.
You should also be aware that installing a different CPU than your office has been delivered with the warranty.
Sorry to bear bad news.
The good news is that the processors listed in the maintenance department & guide reputable reports of upgrade in discussions in the forum, to run.
Best regards

CPU does not support long mode.
Hello
I have vmware esxi 4.0 installed on a HP dektop. I have already 3 VMS running (perhaps 32 bits), but today when I tried to install FreeBSD 64-bit and CentOS 64-bit, I get the following error "CPU mode is supported not long." or "use a 32-bit version.
I find this kind of starange because ESXi4 only installs on 64-bit processors. For my processor supports the 64 bit, but whu not guest OS.
(oh... everything is my Core i7 processor)
Is there something that I am missing?
Thank you

software virtualization is incompatible with the long mode on this platform
Hello
I'm trying to run a linux 64-bit guest in vmware workstation 8.0
This Vmware Workstation is installed on the virtual machine Windows 7 64 bit (client needs), running inside a host ESXi 5.1
To summarize:
Dell Power Edge 2900 > Host 5.1 ESXi (with VT turned on in the BIOS) > Windows 7 64 bit VM > comments to Vmware Workstation 8.x > 64-bit linux
I have read that since ESXi 5.1 and Workstation 8.x, nested VMs can be run in 64-bit mode
The opposite (that is running vmware workstation in ESXi) is true?
If Yes, what parameter VT should I use?
Of course, the tools mentioned here (and ran into the virtual machine Windows 7 64-bit)
http://downloads.VMware.com/d/details/processor_check_5_5_dt/dCpiQGhkYmRAZQ==
Me: "this host is NOT capable of running a 64-bit guest operating re-allocated under this product VMware..." »
Any help much appreciated.

My questions:
What is the support policy for the series CPU?
It will support "AMD Opteron 2380' who of the same series as"Quad - core AMD Opteron 2384 "?
Thank you
As long as processors are in the same series, which you seem to be (series 23xx), they will be compatible VMotion. And, as I said before, if you use at least 2 update, you can use CVS to ensure that they are compatible, by setting the CVS for AMD processors.
Just noticed that you ask if you can use the 2380 place the 2384. This should not be a problem.

Hi all fans of Toshiba and the users of the forum.
I would like to get to know what are the processors supported for the Tecra M1 laptop computer product? Given that or what version of bios is required etc. It is a pity that the BIOS download page provides no further information on this subject.
I would be happy to receive all responses,Sincerely yours
Jens
Basically, the upgrade of the processor is very limited. If you are installing a processor that does not recognize the BIOS, the CPU cannot operate at full speed or it does not start, or it may cause damage or overheating.
Your best option would be to look at other Tecra M1 models and determine that we have the fastest CPU. That the exact CPU should work in your M1 with the latest version of the BIOS.In addition, I found this page on the Toshiba site, explaining the upgrades: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ7A01ZW0007R01.htm

Presario CQ5320F: upgrade the processor 'not supported CPU.
I was looking to upgrade the CPU on my Presario CQ5320F, for most popular processors in the list on the HP site for my computer. So I bought one, actually two, of the AMD Phenom II X 4 processors (Deneb). When I installed it, them, I get a message saying that the CPU is not supported. I don't know how I got it done, but it does not work. I bought two of the processors by mistake. The code on the processors that I bought is "HDZ955FBK4DGM", which seems to be the processor in the list of compatible processors on the HP website.
-AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)
-AMD Phenom II X 3 Triple-Core (Heka) 7xx/7xxe
-AMD Phenom II X 2 5xx (Callisto)
-II AMD Athlon X 4 6xx/6xxe (undactylopodite)
-AMD Athlon II X 3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
-AMD Athlon II X 2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
-AMD Sempron 1xx (Sargas)
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,

Thank you for giving me the answer. I guess it's time to look for a new motherboard now.
No doubt, it would be nice if someone let HP know this, so people like me would not try to use this processor with the motherboard.
