Support for UEFI BIOS

I have an IQ826t which took the HARD disk crash.  So I bought a thought of HDD 3TO it is a fairly new computer with Windows 7 Professional and it would not be a problem.  Well, it seems that the system must support UEFI and I can't find the settings in the BIOS.

If anyone knows if there is an update of the BIOS which allow UEFI?  Seems that HP does not update the BIOS for my wonderful system.

Thank you

Bill Cook

Hey Bill,.

The IQ826t delivered with Vista, so if you are running windows 7 it has been upgraded. The PC was actually launched early 2009 (January 2009) is actually slightly older. UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is a new type of interface BIOS, HP Starte their use in Consumer Desktops and TouchSmarts around spring 2010. Unfortunately, there is not a way to update a UEFI BIOS. The reason to, it's because of the way it deals with space, the old BIOS version can handle hard drives up to 2.2 TB.

So unfortuately you won't be able to see all the 3 TB of this player.

Sorry

Bill

OK if you are interested in the topic you can try with a facility for testing purposes, but if there are many different issues and problems, I think that you should install the recovery original image again and use your laptop with 'presets' again.

You can enter the BIOS settings?

In General, you can try to start the installation of USB if you press F12 on startup and choose USB as a boot device. It works for you?

  • Satellite C870 - 1 H 2 and support for virtualization

    Hello

    I am (was to) buy a Toshiba Satellite C870 - 1 H 2 (from amazon.co.uk).
The specifications look ideal for me, but at the last moment, I thought to check if VT - x extensions are supported.

I know that the processor supports extensions (as detailed here: [http://ark.intel.com/products/71465/]), but I know also that the extensions are often not enabled (or there is no option in the BIOS to enable them).

The expression "Virtualization Technology" (which is present on other pages of the specification) is clearly absent from the plug laptop here: [http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-c870-1h2/].
I saw some comments that suggest the Satellite * Pro * series usually provides the support for virtualization, but it always seems to be missing on many current models of Pro's specifications.

I don't know why the C870 would not support VT - x, when we know that his material, but the specifications indicate that this is the case. On the other hand, I found no references to people complaining about the lack of VT - x support.

So my question is, the Satellite C870 - 1 H 2 actually does support VT - x, or not?
(and if not, because it takes just a very small piece of code BIOS, why not?)

    Thank you

    > The same issue applies. These models are supported virtualization

VT support is always depends on the CPU built in Notepad. But you mentioned it in the first post.
According to the page of the Ark from Intel, the Intel Pentium 2020 M processor supports Intel Virtualization Technology (VT - x)

I found your previous thread on this topic:

    > 1. How to create a DVD repair or start for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and boot secured.
To be able to boot from sources other than the drive HARD internal, the boot mode must be set to the CSM and secure boot must be disabled!

    > 2. I created a USB recovery using the control panel in Windows Pro 8.1. It starts OK. It will be the same as that I've created using the Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it drivers Windows Pro 8.1?

Your laptop has been preloaded with Win 8. Right? For example, the USB flash stick memory you just use the Toshiba Recovery media creator contains the Image of Toshiba with Windows 8. Don t mix this Toshiba image with the image that can be created using Microsoft's own backup and restore function. Both are different pictures!

    > 3. Check it with disk management, then 3 (450MO, 350 MB and GB 10.90) recovery partitions, 1 EFI system partition and 2 partitions primary (C: programs) and D: for data. I created the recovery DVD and USB 2 disks. Can I remove the 3 recovery partitions?

The last partition contains the files on HARD drive recovery. Usually this partition will be created again when you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. So in the case where you n t need this files or the partition, you can delete

Hello to the members of the forum,

I have the Satellite Pro P100 (PSPAHE - 002001GR) and I installed the WIN 7 Enterprise 64 free trial. I have Modules of memory 2 x 2 GB Corsair, a T7400 processor and Bios version 4.7. Everything works fine without their memory. Known BIOS all 4 GB, Windows see it uses but only 3 GB. I know im not alone with this problem, but I have not found a solution to solve it. In msconfig, all right, there's max, and the number of processors. RAM not activated.

If someone knows a way to work to use all 4 GB of installed Ram?

I would be much obliged if anyone can help.

Something else. Intel VT - X is not enabled by BIOS. Also, there is no option to do this. When I bought the laptop it is a feature that I want to use, and now the BIOS does not support it. Why didn't pay much for the laptop so characteristic specific card do not work propably?

Thanks to everyone for reading my post and want to help.

    Hello

Perhaps than that you seem stupid now, but I think that this model laptop was never supported for 64-bit operating systems, and I think the BIOS is also not designed for this.
If you wish, you can call Toshiba nearest service and ask for help. They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can check it for you.

  • What hard drives are supported for Satellite 5100-201

    Hello!

My drive is making some strange noises, might he have one foot in the grave...
Have the latest bios 1.9. and the original at 30 GB disk.
Have a Hitachi 40 GB I tried with, but the laptop did not.
So I would like to know what drives and formats supported for this model.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Very strange did you use a compatible 40 GB HDD?
To my knowledge, the laptop must be able to recognize the 40 GB HARD drive.
As far as I know the 30 GB HARD drive that was installed is a Toshiba MK3017GAP and the computer supports a HDD of 20, 30, 40 or 60 GB.

I think that these disc HARD must be compatible:
Toshiba HDD2171B 40 GB HARD drive
HITACHI G8BC00009110 40 GB HARD DRIVE
    Toshiba HDD2183B 60GB

PS: The strange noise from the HARD drive could be the beginning of the end
So make a backup of the data.

  • Want to 700-019 H5P24AA #BL: what is the side power maxiumum supported for a video card in Envy 700

I want to improve my HD 8570 delivered installed video card.

What is the rated power more of a video card that would work with the installed 450W power supply.

    CPU is 4770 I7 motherboard: MS-7826 (Kaili)

    Thank you

The 700 WANT referenced has a 460 watt POWER supply with a PCI-E 6-pin power supply.  In addition, this particular model PC has a version 8 for most graphics cards latest UEFI BIOS which are rated to work with a 460 Watt power supply would probably work.

Of EVGA has a NVIDIA GTX 960 modelthat requires only a single PCI-E power connector 6-pin. Other models of the EVGA GTX 960 graphics cards require a PCI-E power connector, 8 pins.

  • Pavilion g6-1050-st: no support for my product?

    Hello.

I tried to configure my laptop so I can use the switchable graphics feature since I was 2 GPU. My Catalyst Control Center UI does not show this feature. I've tried 5 or 6 different guides to solve this problem, but no success. I came to the conclusion that I need to upgrade my GPU of HP website drivers, that I can't find.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-G6-1000-Notebook-PC-series/5046257/model...

No GPU driver? Why is this and where to find them?

Next part of my question, I tried upgrading the BIOS with update the link, don't still no dynamic-fixed choice given. I tried to download the older AMD drivers, still no switchable graphics in CCC. What should I do to see this feature?

    Thank you.

Edit: My (g6 1050st) product is not in this list, given in sticky thread:

    http://support.HP.com/tr-TR/document/c02948560

So I did not date this driver BIOS, I updated one given in my product page. But I have used graphics switchable back in Windows 7. So what can be my problem?

    Hi there @Onat

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I understand you are trying to get switchable graphics with your current configuration. I'm happy to help you with this.

Check the product page, it seems that Windows 8.1 is not among the operating systems supported for this laptop. There are a few pilots of Windows 8, but as you say it's not for graphics cards. As for the BIOS, when it comes to laptops and laptop computers, it is common to lock certain options available on desktop computers, because they can cause serious problems with heat and performance on a laptop. Dynamic mode is one of the people often locked and switchable graphics, fixed - function is controlled by the system, as is the video memory available.

The lack of a custom driver, your best option may be to go back to Windows 7, use the one for her. What follows is the driver which includes two graphics processors for Windows 7.

    AMD HD graphics driver

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know.

    Hello

I am pleased to have been of assistance. See the last two paragraphs here on how stop these old driver updates of

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • no support for dv6768se

No update for the dv6000 BIOS

Careful, HP has turned to deception. I bought thousands of dollars worth of HP products. I recommend the purchase of HP in my official duties as a Director of engineering. However, I was disappointed by the performance and support in all cases. I have two machines where I couldn't write media to recover. The most recent is with my Pavilion dv6000 laptop. It has the problem of restarting which may be related to problems of overheating GPU NVidia. This is known issue and HP must have decided to let go without worrying about the goodwill of its customers.

The details for the latest incident are:

Seeking support, I called a number found on the site of HP. I was charged for the support of a partner HP from a foreign land only to make things worse.

They say that when I called HP they Mobile is unsupported and is obsolete. So, why is me she charged?

My flag will not re-start. The symptoms started he did a software update from Microsoft. The update restarted my system and suspension system. After a stop forced (pressing the power button for 5 seconds), I had a soft recovery screen. I did a restore and it restarted. It hung again. This time, the indicated recovery screen I couldn't move forward and to contact support.

I tried to get it back to the factory setting. This has seemed to work until I did the updates and tried to restart the machine. It hung again. I made the diagnosis of HW, but diagnostic tests indicated no problems. Analysis of disk of Vista also no problem.

Before I looked for support I found that instead of restart, if I made a stop, I could limp thought enough of the upgrade to Windows 7. However, the question remained, and she seemed to be associated with HW. That's when I called HP support.

First of all, I told them (ITechLine) was associated with HW and I didn't not need remotely diagnose my machine. They insisted so I spent a day watching a tech do the antivirus scans and scan disk. Later, they said they had solved the problem, but the technology that has been doing Diagnostics admitted that the original question seems HW and remains.

How I got the number of ITechLine from the HP website. May have been my mistake, and a better number could be found on the HP website. The loss of time can be, I think, a concealment deliberate by HP.

Later, I called enough people at HP (even in a foreign country) to find the HP had decided to abandon the support for my laptop and I couldn't support or portions of their share for this machine. The person said that the technology was obsolete. It is also darkening; Since a SATA drive for this my machine could be found for less than $50 and would have more than twice the capacity. In fact, I could buy a new memory 2 GB SODIMM, a new hard drive and a new battery for less than $90. Phone support charged $149.

I have a few web searches to find the GPU NVidia overheating problem was probably the cause. Then, I disassembled the laptop to clean the cooling fan. The reboot problem was considerably reduced. I can restart 5 out of 6 times, which leads me to believe that it is the GPU overheating problem.

However, now I can't use the optical drive to start the Windows 7 support. It does not show in my computer. Also, I can't write recovery media using the internal optical drive. I knew it is the bios, because one of the stages that I found on the web had to reset the cmos to the original. I see that is not the most recent. By going to the HP site for the update of the bios, I find that they no longer have the update and my machine does not get detected by their auto detect process. Forgot it that they did the laptop.

So, I have a laptop of brilliant almost new look that will not work and is unsupported. It is obsolete, even if the State of the industry has not really progressed for laptops. It is Wi - Fi enabled with a large screen and could run all the latest SW until 5 days ago. It is too light to be a doorstop good, so it is useless. All I can get from HP is denial, disappointment and a dress (with a foreign accent).

Being an EE, I thought that HP a tester has been great and that HP would be able and honorable. It's the end of an era.

Someone know where I can get the free bios update? It's not worth spending a lot of money after bad to pay for a service update of the bios.

It is a forum for users of peer-to-peer support for HP products. HP maintains no official presence in this forum. It is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Response of an employee of HP represents his own opinion and not that of HP.

Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook computer dv6768se. Based on the information contained in the specification, this model is about 5 to 6 years.
