Support TLS 1.2 SQL 2008 R2

To the right:

I have read a document (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3135244#bookmark-clientdl) to discuss support TLS 1.2 on SQL server 2008 R2.

I followed the steps described in the document to download and install a hotfix for SQL server service 2008 R2 3. In addition, added the required registry keys values.

However, I have no way to confirm that SQL server 2008 R2 actually uses TLS 1.2 to communicate with a client.

Could you please tell me how to check whether or not SQL server 2008 R2 actually uses TLS 1.2 to communicate with a customer.

Kind regards

Jason

Hello

Run the following query to check the requests of the customers are under encryption:

Select * from sys.dm_exec_connections where encrypt_option = 'TRUE '.

Furthermore, let me recommend the following forum for SQL Server issues:

I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if sp1 for SQL 2008 is still supported?

I checked and don't see it listed in the compatibility matrix, but thought I'd ask just in case.

    Thank you.

FYI ANY version of a database will be supported.  If she supports SQL 2008 ALL future updates SP1, SP2, etc... will be supported, if that's what you're asking... SQL 2008 is on the list but not SP1.

If there are major changes, which would be 2010 SQL (or other).  Service Packs are supposed to be included.

  • TMS and SQL 2008 R2

    Hi all

We plan to spend our SQL 2005 a 2008R2 server. In the Installation of TMS and Quick Start Guide (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tms/install_guide/Cisco_TMS_Install_Getting_Started_Guide_13-1.pdf , page 6), they say that all versions of SQL 2008 are supported, but we must be sure that this includes the SQL 2008R2. Are there restrictions or considerations?

    Thank you!

I seem to TMS doesn't run well with SQL 2008 R2 no problem

  • TMS 13.2.2 - SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 migration

I want to confirm (as it already has a few posts on this topic) SQL2005 to SQL2008 db migration does not require all reinstalls / actions on the demand side.

    • We have TMS 13.2.2 slot with remote DB in SQL2005.
    • Our team of DB migrate all DB to SQL 2008 (and SQL2012 - which is not supported by TMS)
    • We want to confirm if DB team to migrate our database for 2008 (correct migration without change of name, etc) that TMS will continue to work without intervention of application of TMS. I mean by intervention without having to reinstall / install new packages on MSDS.

I saw post about SQL2008 in SQL2005 express migration - but the answer also includes install again TMS...

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3791835#3791835

    Hi Pawel,

You will not have to uninstall and reinstall of TMS, you just need to use TMS tools has therefore at the point of application of TMS on the new external and instance SQL Server where db (tmsng) TMS will be. And as usual, you will need a user who, as appropriate for the SQL and the PB TMS (by documentation TMS - doc Install) access.

    Hi all

We are planing to install ESXi host where are hosted with our SQL 2008 R2 SP1 machines, version 6. Do you know if this upgrade is supported by Microsoft?

I mean, we have a problem after the upgrade? Application errors, incompatibility, etc...

    Thank you

The virtual machine will not know that anything has been updated, but if you update the hardware version of the virtual machine update then there will be an operating system level changes. VMTools update necessary and the material presented.

I did some updates from 5.5 to 6, including sites where SQL server is running and have not had any problems. Just make sure you test first and do you homework with the HCL, etc..

Then select each drive and delete in material management thing.

Now I sail in the directories where my Virtual Machines is kept and VM001, open the .vmx file in Notepad. and add lines folloing the end of the file.

    • Make sure that both drives are Of Basic Volumes.

    • Then start VM002
    • From the node Management disk in the Management Console, you should see both drives.

Windows 2008 clustering requires the support of SCSI-3 persistent reservation on drives that is not provided by VMware "shared SCSI bus" configurations or one of the 'open source' iSCSI targets The best way to get W2K8 go clustering is to use something like target RocketDivision StarWind iSCSI (http://www.rocketdivision.com/) to offer 'shared' storage, then use the W2K8-built-in iSCSI initiator to connect to cluster storage...

  • VCenter on MS SQL 2008 R2 installation

    Hello

    I can't install vCenter (4.1 Update 1).

    I installed a basic MS SQL Server R2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2.

Installing vCenter I block at the choice of the database level.

He therefore asks me if I want to use a 2005 Express version or a database of existing support. So I choose the second option, but it offers me nothing in the drop-down list (DSN).

When I enter the name of the previously created DSN (via the control panel > administrative tools > Data Source (ODBC)), I have an error message "the DSN"xxx"does not exist or is not a 64-bit system DSN. vCenter Server requires a 64-bit system DSN. »

1 - remember to install the client SQL 2008 R2 on the vCenter

2 good create a "System DSN" and not UN "user DSN".

    3. to install at least a vCenter 4.1 (en 4.0 go looking for ODBC administration in SysWOW64)

  • Virtulize SQL 2008 on ESXi 4.1

We have a web application that uses SQL 2000 on the backend currently and this application is undergoing restructuring heavy, part of the redesign will replace the SQL Server on the backend. I have recommended virtualization it but developers are completely against it. Here's what it would look like.

1 VM Server 2008 R2 running with 2 vCPU and 8 GB of memory, the latest version of SQL 2008 installed, it will very probably a dedicated area with VMware installed for this SQL server computer. SQL and SQL data will be installed on a drive on the SAN will be mapped as a RDM. The drive from the old SQL Server is using right now is regularly between 100i/o ps and ps 200i/o and occasionally spikes to 2000i/o ps. Readers of the San are 15 disks SAS k that can support up to 9000i/o ps when spread across all drives.

I did some research but have not found much running SQL 2008 on ESXi 4.1 in addition to what I find is running SQL on 3.5 and did not have good experiences. I would like to get the reactions of the other experience with a similar setup.

Thank you very much in advance

    The OS is fine.

And SQL Server 2008 R2 is not supported at all, in fact. Only 2008 and 2005 versions.
