• Portege Z930 cannot start with installed RAM module

  My laptop Toshiba Portege Z930-108 has stopped booting with any module of RAM installed in the support.

  If I remove RAM module, laptop computer starts and works fine, but if I install any module of RAM (4 GB 1600 original or a new 4 1600 CL9 or 1600 8 CL11) the computer cannot start.

  The screen stays black and power led flashing two green and two orange and a few seconds later, 3G indicator also on blue.

  This is the only problem I have with this computer, but it's strange.

  I updated the BIOS to the latest version and the problem is not resolved.

  I guess you used bad RAM or not fully compatible modules.
  It's the only plausible explanation.

  I recommend you to order the RAM modules recommended by Toshiba that are:

  4 GB DDR3 - 1600 PA5037U-1M4G

  2 GB DDR3 - 1600 PA5037U-1M2G

  What RAM you bought? I think that the modules are not compatible or your chipset does not support the 4 GB.
  Check it with CPU - Z!

  You could test the RAM with Memtest86 ([www.memtest86.com]).

  I doubt that a BIOS update will solve the problem. A more recent BIOS does not change the decision-making ability and/or supported RAM.

  Well, I received my case running and each with its own windows service. More I don't get the blank page of death, and I did not manually change the configuration files in order to make this work.

  When CF instances are created, it creates a copy of the file cfusion for himself. and so in itself, there's also a runtime/bin folder that contains the WSCONFIG tool.   I have the laptop above that was dumped on its edge causing the hard drive to the jam and fail.
  This means no access to the system recovery, so I ordered arvato shop Toshibas Recovery Media recovery media.

  I installed a new HARD drive has slipped into the recovery disc and boom, no bootable media insert system disk.

  I tried the disc on other laptops, same thing, with no bootable media, but back to arvato who kindly sent me disks replacement... you guessed it... exactly the same thing so I put in my windows 7 install cd and it read the disc properly.

  Arvato said they asked toshiba to check the image which they did and found no errors, but the stock of arvato could be faulty, I thought. in any case, they offered a refund which doesn't really help.

  I may be missing something so this post hoping tosh guru of you might be able to help :)

  Maybe the image is OK, but the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc of Arvato.
  What you could do is to copy this recovery disk to another disk using another computer.
  Then you could try to start the device using the new disc copied.
  May be worth a try.

• Cannot start after WinXP disk Image resizing

  I am running Fusion 3.0.1 and tried to resize my Windows XP image (actually my main motive was divided into 2 GB files, so I checked this box and move the slider to the top of a few GB).  I started by removing my snapshots.  Everything seemed to go well and it took about 10 minutes to clean files, but after resizing, I can't start (and have of course no snapshots to come back).  I have the hard drive, select as my entry, but merging does not seem to be seeing and seems trying to boot to a network device, and after a few seconds I get a message that "no boot device not could be found.  I always get the resized image of Windows XP with the VMDKMount utility, and everything seems to be intact.

  Any suggestions or advice?
