Switch to the SSD with original recovery software?

Hello

I need help in the transition to an SSD. I just bought a desktop PC HP ENVY of h8-1400ew with Windows 8. I'm used to having a system SSD drive, so I would like to switch to him, but keep all the customizations of HP. Actually I'm thinkng to use the original recovery DVD or a partition, but after some research, it seems that during all the years moving to a disk different HARD was almost impossible if the size was smaller. I found someone to go into more detail on these forums and there was a light at the end of the tunnel, he said that the recovery software is able to do this, even if the new drive is smaller, as long as all hidden and recovery partitions mount the new drive. All this should therefore boild down to its size. What size is big enough.

If anyone has found it's true? HP brought no changes to how it's all done in era of Windows 8? I don't want to shell out $200 to only get the error at the end of the process. Please notify.

PS. I know there is a workaround solution that involves the cloning of the partition on the drive up, but I don't want to do because it will prevent the correct recovery in the fututre system will be ignore where the scores of recovery are and so on. For now, I would like an automated solution.

Hello:

You can see this post where a person has been unable to use a flash drive with the recovery of files on it to install from a HARD drive on a SSD from 120 GB to 500 GB related.

    Hey,.

As Akuma writes that you should try a USB FDD instead a USB key. Key USB is supported only on new models of laptops, but as far as I know USB FDD will be always supported.

In any case, just for your information: you should know what you're doing. It is a delicate and risky procedure and in the worst cases you might destroy the whole ROM module but if you already have a new laptop I think that it s a problem for you. ;)

  • HP 15: Switch to the SSD

I want to change the SSD hard drive, but I'll always be able to use the version of windows OEM?

I heard that the key is on the BIOS?

    Hello:

You should be fine as long as the hard drive you buy is not much smaller than the one supplied with your laptop, and you plan to use the disc/card reader of recovery than you did when you got your PC.

Or, if you have OEM W8.1 installation media.  The product key automatically fills a valid operating system installation.

I'm about to do it myself.  I bought a HP 350 G1 in February with a 500 GB hard drive and I bought a 240 GB Intel SSD 535.  It was delivered, but I don't him have not yet received.

I hope that the recovery disks that I made will work on the 240 GB hard drive.

But the first thing I'll try to see if I can just put the last backup system image I did in Windows on the new SSD, so I can't do a thing to update or reinstall programs, files, etc.

However, I have the chance to have a real HP W8.1 Pro OEM installation disc where the recovery disks do not work.

My laptop came with W8.1 Pro demoted to W7 Pro.

The recovery media that I made was to W7 Pro, but since I intend to switch to W10 anyway, if I have to use the installation of W8.1 on the new SSD disk, it will be fine for me.

You can also see if doing your own installation of Microsoft W8.1 media will work with the product key in your laptop.

  • Compatibility of the SSD with MBP

I was advised to upgrade my MacBook Pro to replace my hard drive with an SSD. (Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB)

The results were great. But after a few weeks, the computer would suddenly stop and restart. Initially, it was casual; last week, it happened several times throughout the day.

Best Buy or Samsung would give me the time of day. I had owned the player for about 6 weeks. Tired, I bought another identical yesterday disc [never forget the madness of this decision!]. Today the computer just closed and restarted.

Is there a problem of compatibility here?  Could someone suggest probable cause?  The original never hard disk once done this.

    Thank you.

    MBP 15 "mid-2010

Intel Core i5 to 2.53 GHz

Remove the SSD, install it in an enclosure, plug it into the MBP via USB and see if it will start the MBP externally (key OPTION key at startup).

If so, the internal SATA cable is the main suspect.  Replace it.  This is common with SSDS in Mbps.

If no success, run an Apple Hardware Test:

Note that an error free AHT is inconclusive.

  • Pavilion dv4: Windows 7 does not start and I can't access the system with f11 recovery

I use a Pavilion dv4. Windows just crashed on a blue screen with a message about physical memory dump. Now when I start the computer it will just a black screen with a blinking cursor to the place when windows normally should start. I can not access the system with the f11 key recovery. I went in with the f2 key diagnostic mode. Diagnostic tests except for the battery test that failed, but shouldn't the laptop to be able to run without a battery if it is connected? And besides, if the problem was the battery, the laptop wouldn't be able to turn on at all, no?

I'm not about to spend all that money on a battery just to know that it is not the battery.

    Hello

If you have the 64 bit rescue CD, you would have received an error if it was bad.

Once you have all your data backup, try the following - which means that Windows has been installed on the C Partition.

Boot from the new rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

Remove the rescue CD and try to restart now.

  • Switch of the battery with etherchannel configuration

    Hello world

    I have 2 3750 switch stack.

I have config etherchannel between them.

    Here is the result

    2 Po2 (SD) LACP Fa1/0/15 (I) Fa2/0/15 (I)

The two ports are up on the rise but autonomous

Int port channel 2 is low down.

Need to know if it is a default when we config etherchannel between the switches to the battery?

    Thank you

    Mahesh

    Hello Manu,

If the switches are stacked, they are logically a switch.  You cannot use portchannel to connect one switch to another.

    You're basically looping ports together.

  • How to recover a bad hard drive with no recovery software.

I'm working on a 4-b000 want Pro.  The hard drive has failed.  I have a replacement drive on the way, but I did not create a recovery disk when the laptop was purchased.  It had windows 7-64 bit on this subject before.  What are my options to get a recovery media for this laptop?

    James

    Hi James,

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a replacement set of support for recovery from the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  It will also recreate the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 USB flash drive Installer.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

Using another PC - just download the correct disk Image ( that it must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - IE Home Premium, professional etc. ) from the link below--the source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Once done, use an application like Rufus to create a bootable Windows 7 usb flash drive.

When creating, tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Insert the Windows 7 flash player.  Select the menu of Boot Options ( f9 ).  Use the arrow keys to select the flash drive and press ENTER.

Use the flash drive to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You may need, additional drivers and software are from here.

    Hello

    Once again

I posted a response on your question about the graphics drivers. Already checked it?
If not, I will give a short explanation on recovery media, then again a link where you can find the software graphics driver.

Recovery media is an image packed installation of Windows on your hard drive. Which means that you CAN extract any software out of it.
You can only recover your machine with it and nothing more.

If we now come to the point where I give you the link (again) to find the driver you need:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

So please (again), check out the site, select your model and download your drivers.

And please: Don t post the same question twice or more. It s pretty when you post a topic and just edit the topic to add more content/questions.
This prevents the issues clearly and everyhting overviewable...

  • Switch to the SSD without a bootable usb key or a clone?

IM wondering if I can install just my ssd and use command-R and restore from an external time machine back up without a usb Bootable os top or make a clone?

Yes, you can use recovery to Internet if your computer supports. OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support

I don't think that recovery works, because the recovery partition on your hard drive that will have been deleted.

After installation of OS X you can use the Migration Wizard of Time Machine. Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

However, it is much easier to clone your existing hard drive using Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner.

If you clone your SSD, you can test it without removing your existing drive.

You can connect your drive SSD using either an external hard drive like this case OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/Search/Search.cfm?Ntk=Primary&Ns=P_Price%7c0&Ne=5000&N = 6430 & Ntt = on-the - Go + Kit or a USB to SATA cable like this.

    http://www.Amazon.ca/GP/product/B006J2L0ZM?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detai lpage_o07_s00

My method of choice would be cloning your hard drive to SSD.
