System Image Restore

Hello

I was wondering...

Recently I lost all my files on my partition bootcamp so after learning this hard lesson, that I decided to buy an external hard drive to backup all my files.

I created a backup using Windows backup, and also I have created a System Image backup.

I know that if restore you Windows using a Setup disk you may lose the Mac partition because that reformats the entire hard drive.

But how about if I use the restoration of the Image of the Control Panel, NOT a recovery disk or the Windows Setup disc. If I directly from Control Panel:

which would remove the MAC partition too?

Let me explain further.

Let's say I get a virus and I decide to delete the bootcamp partition. Then I proceed to re-install windows7 normally using Boot Camp help lose all my files and programs that I had before. Once the installation is complete, I want to recover all the files, settings and programs I had before. So I plug my hard drive and use the restore System Image via Control Panel, without using an installation disc.

My logic is if I do it via a Windows installation or recovery disk before windows is installed correctly with bootcamp that can reformat the entire hard drive and I would lose the Mac partition, which is obviously not an option. But if I do so after properly installing windows via bootcamp and go to the control panel to perform an overlay to the Image of the system that will affect only the Bootcamp/Windows partition and does not affect the entire hard disk.

My logic is correct? or simply a System Image Recovery Windows on a Mac is not possible?

Thank you!

    I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.

I want to try to create "system image" and then restore it. Where will it work for me I will use all my 20 PC.

My PC has a C: drive

I partitioned it and now I have C: and D: with an abundance of free space on each.

    What I did:

1 created 'image system' and it stored on D: Finally I use the external drive for backups (currently I don't have it and I just want to test that I could save/restore)

2 created "Repair disk", then it I created a bootable USB key, because some of my PC doesn't have a CD ROM

    3. start the machine from USB and select "Restore from system image". He acknowledged that the image is on D: but immediately restore failed with this message:

    Hello:

I can't help you with why the image of the system will not work, but here's a way you can reinstall W7 by using the product key of W7 25 characters on your PC case.

Make your own plain W7 x 64 installation media.

Here is the link to the download site of Microsoft for the W7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 ISO file.

    http://MSFT.digitalrivercontent.NET/win/X17-24209.ISO Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 English

Make sure you get all the 3. XX GB of the file to download.  Sometimes it reports 'Download complete', but you do not have the entire file.

Burn the file on a DVD using the option of the program of your burner burn DVD file ISO then the DVD is bootable.

Or you can use this tool to transfer the ISO to a flash USB 4 GB or DVD drive.  The tool also performs the bootable media.

Then install the drivers and software available that you need your PC support and driver page.

  • Recover Windows System Image in Boot Camp 10

    Hi all

I have problems with Windows on my iMac.

So I installed Win10 using the Boot Camp Assistant, partitioning 300 GB for it. After awhile, I realized I want to segment much more, so I tried looking for a way to extend this partition to 500 GB - I have tried it with a 3rd party app and didn't. I then created a Windows System Image, restored the fuser unit to a single OS X partition and reinstalled Windows with BCA - by then I had decided to partition 1 TB for each operating system. I installed with no problems and tried to recover Windows from the Image of the above system. But instead he apparently formatted my entire SDS, including the OS X partition, that the iMac will not start and more.

[I have a backup Time Machine and everything, I also know I have to reinstall OS X and then restore from that backup.]

The question is how to do what I tried bypassing Windows format the whole * thing. If this is not possible at all to recover from the image, I'll be forced to 'start from scratch' and I'd really rather not, 3rd party applications are welcome at this stage. Also, can I recover the files from the Image of the system?

    Thank you for your time,

    Bruncky

PS. : Given that the Apple employee didn't know immediately what I was talking about: in Windows, a System Image is a 1:1 copy of my Windows partition around, as opposed to a backup that saves only files apps and not content generated by the app.

PS2. : If I reinstall OS X from Recovery Mode, do I make specific configurations about the merger by car?

This issue arises from a bad assumption made during the restorations by the process of restoration of Windows. It assumes that the restoration is made on the dedicated disk that has nothing else. Winclone is the best solution on Mac instead of Windows System Image backups. I have some time with a few users and I have tried with different levels of success. Please see Bootcamp not recognized after the restoration of Windows from image system for example.

    Try of Winclone.

There may be some confusion between the Image of the system and the history of the files. Time Machine has no concept of an Image of the system, so it is also the terminology 'exotic '.

PS2. : If I reinstall OS X from Recovery Mode, do I make specific configurations about the merger by car?

No, unless you have built a custom Fusion car. If you have a Bootcamp partition on the drive of Fusion, you want to ensure that you're not crushing BC/Windows, unless a wipe/restoration is your goal.

  • Windows Vista Home Edition - create and restore the system image

One of my laptops old becomes a problem with a disk error.  I need to create a system image, replace the disk, and then restore the image.  Vista Home does not include the option to create an image - although a lot of 3rd party tools do.  Does anyone have experience using a 3rd third-party tool to do what I want, that is, restore the saved image to the new disk.  I plan to use a USB external drive to store the image so anything I start since then will have to be able to see and read from the external USB drive.

be able to boot from a USB key depends on the properties of your motherboard

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

as you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

  • Unable to create point of system restore, System Image & System Repair Disk

    Hello

I'm on HP Pavilion dv6 notebook, Windows 7 Edition home premium, (Intel core i7, [email protected] Ghz) CPU, RAM (4.00 GB).

2 days back, I installed kaspersky IPSec 2016.

After installation of this I started to experience different startup issues as initially I wasn't able to open the application (word, excel) Microsoft, infact I wasn't able to work on any application, even could not shut my system.

today when I started my system again to check again the question that I was surprised to see that I could access my Microsoft & other applications.

As a preventive measure, now I want to do system restore, disk image point & system repair disk but unfortunately, I am not able to do this.

Here are the problems I face to create above.

1 system restore point - specified error as ' restore point could not be created for the following reason: a volume shadow copy service component has encountered an unexpected error. " Check the event log applications for more information (0 x 80042302)

    2. System Image disc - error indicated as "Windows cannot find device backup on this computer. A volume shadow copy service component has encountered an unexpected error. Check the event log applications for more information (0 x 80042302)

3 system repair disc - of the errors illustrated as "system repair disc could not be created. The parameter is incorrect. (0 x 80070057).

I have 3 computers backed up with their images of system on an external USB drive.

However, when you try to restore a computer using system image, Windows 7 fails to find the USB HDD.

I think it would be probably due to the fact that the WindowsImageBackup folder is probably not in the right place or a superfluous folder. Here's an example of how my disk backup has arranged record...

    Root for example E: /.

I realize that the WindowsImageBackup folder should be at the origin, so I moved this computer folder #1 a less E:\

However, restoration is unable to find it and can't even see the USB HDD.

Can anyone offer advice on what I can hurt?

Thank you all for responding with your advice and suggestions but the failure has been a bit of my doing (?).

When I went to another port for the USB, everything worked fine! Simple solution, that I should have tried first - duh! :-)

My USB 3.0 4TB drive was originally on a port USB 3 (which was either missing or not recognized by my Bios) and when I changed my old disk ports USB 2, everything has worked well!
