System registry fileis missing or damaged - error 0xc00000e9

I have a Compaq Presario computer that runs Windows Vista Basic 32 bit. Two days ago I got the message, unable to start Windows. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem:

1. Insert your installation disc and restart your computer. 2. choose your language settings, and then click Next. 3. click on repair your computer.

File: \windows\system32\config\system status: 0xc00000e9 Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt.

On this screen, press 'ENTER' to continue, which allows me to hit the press "F8" for advanced options. I press any button, it takes back me to the original screen. It does not give me the option "repair your computer", either.

I have the built-in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 disc and I load it, and then restart the computer, but the same screen appears. Help someone?

Mike, I don't see any of the screens have shown in the tutorial... just a black screen that continues to take back me to this God awful message, Windows could start... is the disk Windows SP1 integrated the correct disk, I need to repair or reinstall Windows?

If this is a good DVD of Vista, not a HP, Dell, recovery disk etc. you should be able to repair or to reinstall Vista with it.

A factory recovery disc does not normally gives you the choice of remedy; It is a straight line to reinstall.

If you are starting to leave her properly and still get the message, you have a hardware problem.

Here's how Boot from the DVD drive:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Make sure that everything is done correctly first.

Here is the full and correct way to use the ERD to Startuip:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit

And here's how to do the clean install:

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. do you rememeber to make changes to the computer before this problem?

3 have you tried booting in safe mode?

    Step 1:

You can try to start in safe mode and check if the problem occurs.

    Check out the link:

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2:

If you are unable to boot into safe mode, then perform a startup repair

If you have startup repair as an option of recovering preinstalled on your computer, then you can try that. Otherwise, you need a disk for Installation of Windows Vista to perform the Startup Repair.

Startup Repair is designed to detect the operating system startup problems and troubleshoot all found and corrected with little user interaction.

What is your computer brand and model?

What virus protection software is installed on your computer.

Can you please post a full error message complete.

A likely scenario is that you need to restore factory settings, which is a shredder process removing all data files and programs added since the computer was purchased. If you want to recover your data files, this should be done before you try to fix your computer.

To recover your data files, you need a second computer to access the drive to read and copy the files to the second computer and on removable media for resettlement on the first computer after repair. There are two ways to retrieve data. Method 1 is to place the first computer's hard drive in a USB external hard drive enclosure to connect the case to the second computer. Method 2 is to remove the hard drive from the original computer and place it in a spare drive Bay and connect as a second hard drive. For method 2 be a viable option the two computers must be either computers desktop or laptops as desktop computers have 3.5 "internal hard drives and internal laptop drives 2.5" computers. For method 1, you simply purchase the appropriate forum for the drive.

There is no guarantee that you will be able to recover the data, but you can usually if you have a damaged on a viable hard disk operating system. In some cases, you don't have to resort to the company a restore to the factory settings, but most of these options depend on having a system CD. Walter is indicating that there may be ways to acquire a CD but you need to the right one for your computer.

The process of reconstruction of a computer system can be a difficult task, for the first time, it is committed. You must decide if you want to do or if you feel more comfortable taking the computer to a small computer repair shop
