Updated SL500 and OS recovery Media (s)

Hello world

This is my first purchase of laptop and I did some research as to what long I must/need to do before messing with the system.

Please bear with me as I have a few general questions and the search function track me not enough for all the responses.

My OS is Vista Home Basic.

At startup, I typed recovery leading to "Create recovery media", "Create product recovery media" and "rescue and recovery".

I made backups of these three programs.

To "Create the product recovery media", it has created 3-disc Start recovery disc i) and ii) product Recovery Disc 1 and 2

For "Create recovery media", it created i) recovery and rescue boot disk

Now, after you create the recovery of two types, it is safe to assume that I can delete the Q: Partition.

Here are some questions that puzzled me:

1. What is the difference between the product recovery media and the recovery media?

If I can answer my own question, product recovery media restore the laptop to its factory as well as the 3 partitions EVEN AFTER State I've done a 'clean install' of Vista and removing all partitions. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have no idea what a recovery media as product recovery media seems to do everything.

2. what type of recovery (of the two mentioned above) is the operating system Vista pre installed inside I should decide to go back to Vista.

My guess is the product with its OS and Lenovo recovery media drivers + utilities.

3. should I decide to go and install W7 Pro, once versions or Lenovo official drivers (because I can not directly upgrade Home Basic to Pro), is possible to always use the product and revert to Vista Home Basic recovery media, assuming that what came as factory settings have all been removed.

4. and finally, I'll be able to make any kind of recovery media after a fresh install of W7? (I think a definitive answer will arise come W7 launch date, but it does not hurt to ask )

Thank you very much for reading a long and perhaps repetitive for some, post.

I always visit the forums then I hope I'll learn new things through time.

1. recovery of product support will include your ad OS drivers that get you with your system

2 medial recovery allows you to enter in the rescue and recovery environment

You can use the product recvoery support to return to Vista Home Basic, if you want to

You cannot do any recovery media after installing windows 7, because that has not been delivered with your system

  • Re: Toshiba Recovery Media Creator - no HDD Recovery area

Hi friends, I bought a new Toshiba Kirabook PSU8SA-00V00U, a few months ago. I wanted to create emergency recovery disks, but whenever I start Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, it comes with a message that HARD drive recovery area undetected.

Then I tried running the recovery environment by pressing 0 at the beginning upward.
It comes with a blue screen saying that can not load from the recovery partition.

I checked with Paragon Hard Disk Partition Manager software that the recovery drive is available.

How do I make a recovery media or connect this HDD in system recovery so that Toshiba Recovery Media Creator detects the recovery disk and made recovery media. If in the future, if I want to reset the PC to factory settings, it will be even coming up with a blue screen saying that it can not load the recovery environment.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Hello

Fact is that the installation of image recovery or recovery media creation works if the machine has only factory settings. In other words, everything must be in original condition without any changes. With the changes I mean, original OS must be installed and the structure of the partitions of HARD drive should not be changed.

If you try to change HARD drive partitions original structure the system in general, or Toshiba recovery media creator, will be confused and will not be able to find what we call markers which provide information on the exact location on the HARD disk where the recovery image is placed or registered.

Did you do something that might be responsible for this situation?

  • Alternative method of Recovery Media Creator

I just bought a z830. Is there a way to create the recovery disks with other software that the creator of media provided "recovery"? Apparently 'Recovery media creator' only works with DVD or a USB drive, which I did not. I would like to have the picture of the matter of recovery on my external hard drive and burn it to disk in the event of need.

If I create an image of the partition recovery with another software, say Adonis True Image, this can be used to set the laptop to factory settings?

    > I just bought a z830. Is there a way to create the recovery disks with other software that the creator of media provided "recovery"?
If you want to create the recovery disk that contains the recovery image Toshiba that the answer is no.
    > Apparently 'Recovery media creator' only works with DVD or a USB drive, which I did not.
And where is the problem? If you have the money to buy the laptop for 1000 Euro I assume you will have 15 Euros to buy the 8 GB or 16 GB USB key and create recovery media.
    > I would like to have the picture of the matter of recovery on my external hard drive and burn it to disk in the event of need.
Unfortunately, this won't work. You can copy the external HARD drive recovery image, but you won't have access to it when you want to start the HDD recovery procedure.
    > If I create an image of the partition recovery with another software, say Adonis True Image, this can be used to set the laptop to factory settings?
I don t think so. Toshiba has designed own procedure how to avoid illegal use or modification of recovery images.

  • Corrupted files and queries on the Installation/recovery media

    Hey guys.

So I've had my laptop for about 2-3 years now, it is a Toshiba model of course. I really need help. Basically, I foolishly managed to download some malware on my laptop. It was a mistake that I never knew. I used MalwareBytes to rid the cell of the malware. However. I noticed that my Windows store did not at all.

So I went to the Microsoft Windows support to answer Tech to talk with someone about the issue. They found that the malware must have obtained in the system and so the file may have been corrupted. I've also upgraded to Windows 8.1 via an automatic update. I noticed that the PC settings and the store did not work at all as the files were corrupted.

Someone from the Office of response team said that I needed to have my PC manufacturer installation media - if I didn't pay for their extra support - and reset the Toshiba operating system.

Is there a way to get it? What does mean by "install media"? Can I reset my Toshiba OS to its factory condition?

    Let me know! Thank you.

    > Is it possible to achieve this? What does mean by "install media"? Can I reset my Toshiba OS to its factory condition?
Each new Toshiba notebook comes with the pre-installed operating system, what we called recovery image. This recovery image is a software which contains the Windows, all necessary drivers, tools/utilities Toshiba specific operating system and some additional software.
This recovery image is saved on the HARD drive and laptop user is able to reinstall the recovery image if there is a serious problem.
In General, this can be done using HARD recovery disk image installation. Of course, for some reason, this image of HARD drive recovery is not possible. To avoid this situation Toshiba recommend creation of recovery media. Recovery media is DVD or USB created as bootable media and can be used for recovery image installation. This media can be created to use preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. All this is described in the document s user manuals.

Please note: when you buy the notebook this installation disc is NOT a part of the package. You must create one.
After reading your ad, I agree that the best option for you is clean OS reinstallation. How it works under Win8 you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm
Please note: after a successful updated Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows some of HARD drive recovery options are no longer available.

If there is a problem with the installation of disk recovery HARD clean there is another option: you can order the original installation disc of recovery on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Please, check the option for installation of recovery and post comments please.

  • Updating of Windows 8 failed and remove recovery image

I have an Asus S400c PC that I bought 4 months ago in the Microsoft store. I was getting blue screen crashes to 2 x a day for a week, then all of a sudden today my computer kept crashing. It might fall down, go on the blue screen, reboot, then after 2 minutes to hang again. The error I received was different each time.

In the end, I decided that I would just reset to factory settings.  I pressed F9 and selected the full erase. 64% update failed, and it took me back to the F9 menu, so I tried again and this resulted in exactly the same thing. Then I went to advanced options for select manually the image of HARD drive recovery and he said that there is no image on my computer. So now it is said whenever I start up the computer from auto repair that breaks down after 1 minute and then gives me 2 options: 1) stop 2) go to advanced options.
My laptop is not an optical drive, so I do not have the CD of Windows 8 so how I re - install windows 8? I thought they let an image on the HARD drive that you could use for the flash. I don't know what to do.

    Hello

Please contact the Microsoft Community Forums.

It looks like Windows 8 Refresh failed and can not recover the laptop. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

    1. are you able to start the computer in safe mode?

    2. what happens if you beyond advanced options?

As the computer becomes blue screen errors, there could be a faulty hard drive or any other hardware device.

    Method 1:

Try to perform an audit boot from a disk of the advanced recovery option.

    a. repair your computer, select the troubleshooting option and select Advanced options.

    b. you can choose the command prompt.
    c. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER
    chkdsk /f /r X:(lettre dele de lecteur)
    d. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
    e. restart the computer.

Note: when you run the disk check, there is a risk of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

    Method 2:

You can download the. ISO of Windows 8 file on another computer, copy the files to a 3-4 GB USB key and insert it into the computer for repair/re-install.

  • E530 drivers & Windows Update - more issues related to recovery media.

    Hello

I have a new E530 (one month) and hit some problems with it:

    (1) updates Windows are missing - he seems stuck on the updated three same than keep a failure.

    They are KB971033, KB2446710 & KB2478662

And the error number is 80070BC9

I found nothing on the web that helps.

    (2) I had an error with the driver of sound card on the machine and was repeatedly a message to reinstall the driver. I made an update of Lenovo and especially the updates succeeded, but the sound card, it does not reach an error number 0 x 401 (in the update of the windows driver).

    The update is Conexant CX20671 V. 8.54.42.0.

I tried to uninstall the driver and then put it back, but seem to now be in a limbo of weird where Windows says there is no audio device installed in the status bar, but also in the Device Manager it is said that there is an audio on the Bus High Definition Audio device. That's the warning icon. If I click it it says it's a Conexant device with an updated driver V. 8.54.42.0. Pending the update of Lenovo said I have none installed driver Conexant and need to install V., 8.54.42.0.

I completely uninstalled the drivers via Windows, restarted and reinstalled by using the update of Lenovo. He said he managed and wants a restart. After the restart I was back to the situation described above.

    (3) on the two above, I decided to restore the Windows partition. After you get a success message creating a recovery on a USB drive, I tried to start it. I get a boot error. I got some writable DVD and thought they would be more useful in recovery media. However when I try to create them, I get a message saying that I am allowed only a copy of windows and the application terminates.

It seems that the easiest solution will be to solve number 3, I would create a working set of the recovery media and reinstalling windows. Is this possible?

    Thank you very much.

Well, I think it's been sorted.

I followed the instructions at SevenForums to make a patch to reinstall using the ISO downloaded from Dell.

So far, he has been correct, although we have not (had) FDI appl (y) updates. But at least the sound is back and we are no longer updates pending.

  • NB200 - Recovery Media Creator and drive HARD USB

I just bought a white NB200 and noticed that it does not come with a DVD of Windows 7 in case I ever need to install.
I was informed by the seller in the store I could save a copy on a USB key using a recovery disc writing.
I assume that "Recovery Media Creator" is the best way to do it.

I booted up and it said that it will be 6.7 GB. I don't have a USB this size, but have a portable hard drive (250 gb) with 120 GB to spare.
Even though I can view the drive in Windows Explorer / workstation, the program of recovery media says ' Please insert a USB drive with greater than 6.7 GB memory ', whenever I click on the create"" button.

    If anyone can help?

    Hello

I doubt that you can use the USB HDD to create a recovery disk image.
The Toshiba recovery disc creator has been designed in order to create a bootable recovery disk!
It has not been designed for sure the image of Toshiba on the HARD drive!

So if you want to use the Toshiba recovery disc creator then you must buy a USB CD/DVD drive that can burn the recovery image on a DVD

  • Recovery Media Creator and USB

I try to use "Recovery Media Creator' loading on a 16Gig USB drive.
The program insert me a greater than 12 Gig USB flash drive ask what I do.

He said while the drive will be formatted and then comes up with "Format Failed (Error Code: 040E49-04-00000000)" and the USB key becomes illegible. Using disk of Windows & tool management I can then format the drive and use it becomes usable with the exception of "Recovery Media Creator".

I formatted in FAT32, NTFS and exFAT, but none does.
I tried two USB flash drives, both the same behavior.

As far as I know, there are no partitions on the disk and I used successfully "Recovery Media Creator" on one of the disks in the past. I want the files to restore another computer, something I've done successfully before.

I can burn data using DVD but the DVD did not work so I want to try the USBs. I have read some threads in this direction but have not found the answers to date. I'm sure that there is a simple explanation but I'm not.

Usually, the creation of recovery using the USB flash key support should work fine.

I read in some other threads that the preinstalled anti-virus software could cause similar problems... so I recommend you to disable the antivirus and other security software... so this should work

Other guy says that delete the partition entirely and create a new simple volume would also work.

I upgraded my Windows 10 laptop and have done since a recovery using the Recovery Media Creator Toshiba USB drive; My question is it will take up to 10 Windows or the original Windows 8.1?

Are also all the drivers and the software recovered?

Thanks for your patience - I am fairly new to this!

Did you create a recovery key USB flash memory before upgrading Windows 10?

Usually, the Toshiba recovery media set the laptop back to factory... to the very system that was preinstalled at the beginning.

    Hello

Don t think that your ODD drive is defective.
Fact is that there is always a problem of compatibility between the discs and the ODD.
As far as I know manual usage provides some info on well tested and compatible CD and DVD.

Recommend using a disc that were the compatibility has been tested.
In addition, I recommend standard R TDK. My experience has been good in using these discs
