I know that the16gb m2 card is different with normal 2242 m 2, I am correct?

Photo of m2 16 gb ssd

If I want to buy the kingston ms200 and install it to the location of the wan card, is this possible?

Moreover, who can tell me the difference between a wan wireless & lan card wirelee card?

Thank you very much.

Hi jacky711 and welcome

What do you mean, 'm2 '? normal 2242
SSD 16 GB in the T450s cache has m.2 form factor and size 22 x 42 mm. It's a usual size for these readers.

Kingston SSDNow v + a drive chassis mSATA mS200, it differs from the m2 one. So it cannot be mounted in slot m2, either for the cache drive or wwan/ssd devices.

WLAN card means the card to access the networks WiFi, WWAN (also commonly referred to as "wwan modem") card is for access to broadband (3G, LTE) Mobile networks offer cellular service operators.

  • ThinkPad T450s Review

    Introduction

The ThinkPad T450s is one of the best new ultrabooks. If it is not as slim as some, it is still quite compact and easier to service than the thinner machines and screen Full HD IPS is a standout feature.

This review is based on a ThinkPad T450s, 20BX Type of Machine production, product ID 20BXCTO1WW.

    • Intel Core i7-5600U processor
    • 8.1 Windows Pro 64
    • 14.0 "FHD (1920 x 1080)
    • Camera HD 720 p
    • Intel HD 5500 graphics card
    • 4 GB DDR3L - Base of 1600 MHz SDRAM
    • Fingerprint reader
    • Hard drive 500 GB, 7200 RPM, 2.5 "
    • ThinkPad battery 3 cells Li-Polymer (23.2Whr) before
    • ThinkPad battery 3 cells Li-Polymer (23.2Whr) rear
    • Country Pack 45W in the United States (2-pin) adapter
    • Intel 7265 AC/B/G/N Dual Band Wireless + Bluetooth Version 4.0

    From the receipt:

    • 4 GB Samsung SO - DIMM has been installed
    • Hard drive has been replaced with 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

    Construction

T450s build quality isn't old ThinkPad level, with a clear devaluation, but is still very good. Problems include the difficulty of dislodging the lower lid (after removing the 8 screws) for joining plastic textured inside and fingerprinting, revealing instead of the old finish rubber. But it is quite solid, no bending and quite compact.

    Connectivity

Port is good enough on both sides with nothing on the back. All USB ports are 3.0 with excellent performance. But Mini DisplayPort means you need to maybe buy and carry a dongle of easy-to-lose. Performance of the Wi - Fi connection (802.11ac Intel 2 x 2) seems better than previous cards Intel generation 802.11n, even those with 3 x 3. Bluetooth connections are fast. The speakers are decent, but nothing to write home about. Quality of the webcam is improved over previous generations, but still struggles in low light. Fingerprint reader is a great improvement. (Thanks, Apple.)

    Performance

The good news is that the i7 T450s finally turns out to be a bit faster than the i7 Sandy Bridge (T420s) on the tasks of processor such as video encoding, despite a processor intensive ultra low voltage a bit more slowly. The machine is cold and silent most of the time, with only a gentle breath of air under high load.

    Memory

4 GB of memory is soldered to the main Board and there is only a single SO-DIMM location. While you can add a 8 GB SO - DIMM for 12 GB total, that would mean that half of the memory could run in single channel mode, which can have a very important impact on the performance (as much as 20-30%), especially since the graphics adapter integrated uses part of the main memory (memory available). So if you care about performance, you need to stick with 8 GB, which can be marginal for things like video editing HD Ultra. (The impact on the performance, of course, also applies to machines with only the Basic 4 GB of memory. The promised NVIDIA 940 M graphics option is not yet available.)

    Screen

The IPS 1920 x 1080 screen can take some getting used to, but is really much better than TN screens and is close enough to a calibration right out of the box. (Remember to burn on the screen for at least 24 hours before making any justice.)

    Keyboard

The keyboard of the island is pretty good for what it is, but the provision still suffers compared to the classic ThinkPad keyboard. Homepage layout end delete and PrtSc are poor and other keys like Pause/break are missing entirely, now only available as Fn combinations (such as Fn + B for Break) that are not marked on the keys. Also annoying is the lack of status lights of the hardware (your hard drive, Wi - Fi, Bluetooth, load connection). You can count on the Windows taskbar for wireless and in charge, but you will need to install something like DiskLED (which works well) to the disk activity. Keyboard backlight is usable (despite some annoying light crosstalk between the top row), but not as good as the classic ThinkLight.

    Power

With just the standard 2nd battery, not long battery life with big bulge on the bottom, the T450s still usable on and off by a day without running out of battery power. The power adapter provided is quite small, but only 45W, cannot quickly fresh when the system is under load. If you care about fast charging, you should get the Slim 65W adapter.

    Summary

A return for most welcome to your ThinkPad, with a very good IPS screen and finally enough power processor ultra low voltage measure to the Sandy Bridge.

Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter is available at low cost from B & H.

  • T450s - support e-drive?

Does anyone know if the SSD for the T450s options supports eDrive (and, if so, if it works with Bitlocker or is still blocked by the driver of the RST)?

    Thank you very much

    Joel

Lenovo does not sell any e-drive SSD for T450s (or any other ThinkPad series 50).

    Hello

I am actively choose a laptop computer and found that T450s is almost a perfect candidate! Have just a few questions about this:

    1. is there a BIOS option to swap the Fn and Ctrl keys (manual says Yes, but someone could confirm)?

    2. is there is a way to configure a keyboard to use the F1 - F12 keys without pressing the Fn key? If so, then what is the way to achieve (BIOS, Driver or software Lenovo)?

    3. If the laptop is controlled with the 256 GB SSD, then it is M2 or 2.5 SSD "?

    4. If I order a laptop with 4 GB or RAM, it would be possible to install the add-on 8 GB later? If so, is he 1600 Mhz CL9 or CL11? ECC or non-ECC? What is 1.35v?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Yes, there is an option of BIOS T450s to swap the Fn and Ctrl.

2 FnLk = Fn + Esc (as indicated on the key).

    3. 256 GB 2.5 "SSD.

  • How to change back to SSD HARD drive?

My mcbook pro comes with the original 500 GB of HARD drive. When he ran with a problem, I went to an apple repair shop. Problem was in the charts, and he suggested the HARD drive to be replaced by a 120 GB SDD. So it has been replaced, but the guy on the left HARD drive as a storage device. Moment where DDI is left with small space and when I update to OS X El Capitan of OS Sierra, it had to be installed in the HARD disk drive. Could someone please give instructions to install the new OS to the SDS to lose all my data and the current configuration and it is also possible to install windows XP on the HARD drive and 10.  Either by the way, I got Windows 10 and XP shared with the SDS via parallels. Thank you

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

  • Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

  • Cloning of SSD HD via active with Filevault disk utility

    Hi all

I want to improve my HD to SSD.

I intend on using disk utility for recovery mode to clone my HD to a Virgin SSD I bought.

I must, however, Filevault enabled on my HD.

It will be a problem when it comes to cloning the drive?

    Thank you

    Adam

No, it shouldn't be a problem. It may be necessary first turn on FileVault and encrypt the SSD. But if there is no problem just turn off FileVault on the HARD drive.

  • Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro - does not fit into my Mac Pro.

I just bought a Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro Plus (the same, physically, like the Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro)

I can't even came close it enter my Mac Pro end 2012. On the back of the bumps in the fan card, even with the fan cover pulled back.   This isn't a case to remove the lower lip, which obviously I do, I can't do it AT all, not even at an angle.

I called Sonnet, but incredibly the tech said that it must adapt.

It seems that I have only 2 choices: unscrew the fan and moving it more far forward of the mac (somehow) to cut about 1/2 "on the back of the Sonnet card.  The latter would obviously kill my warranty, and I don't even know if the bloody thing still works.

To my amazement, I find nothing about it online.  It's like the Twilight Zone.

Any ideas?  Someone knows has a video that shows a successful installation?

Pls confirm what Mac you have.

There is no end of 2012 Mac Pro, only mid 2012.

There is a 2012 end MacBook Pro.

Many retailers who sell SSDS have diagrams or installation videos. An example https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macpro_2010/

  • Editing a file to remove confidential data from a solid state drive (ssd)?

I understand that El Capitan has removed the option "Secure Empty trash" because of hard drives (ssd) state how strong. So, I try to understand how I can work around it.

Let's say I have a Pages or Word file with a list of names that should be kept confidential, and I want this file to the trash.

What happens if I change the file to remove these names? Removing ssd data? Can I trash then the file as usual without worrying about confidential data remaining on the ssd?

Or what should I do if I replaced the confidential names with something? For example, if I was John Doe on the list, what happens if I change to be John xyz? XYZ crash Doe on the ssd?

No it doesn't, use FileVault to encrypt the contents of the disc.

  • Best way to make my SSD works again with a single partition

There are 2.5 years, I replaced the original on my computer with a SSD hard drive. Months after I installed the beta version of Yosemite, the latest operating system for Mac at the time. To do this, the system created a partition on my drive, in which he has installed the beta version of Yosemite.

I have today on the same partition, I installed Yosemite, Sierra macOS running. In the other, I have all files, so I want to eliminate. However, when I try to do this by using the disk on my Mac utility, it is not possible; I get a message that says I can't delete the first volume of the disc. When I try to increase the size of the partition on which macOS Sierra operates, so reduced the size of the other, the system won't let me.

I would like to know what is the best way to make my SSD works with only one partition.

You cannot delete the last partition that was created, that not 1.

You can clone the content from the 2nd to the 1st, then you can remove the 2nd.
