T500 WOL

Unable to get WOL to work after replacing the motherboard. BIOS and network card are enabled for WOL.

All of the suggestions. ? Thanks in advance.

Wake On Link are enabled in the power manager and the Device Manager?

If they are, try downloading and using processors Intel network drivers for the Intel card, rather than the Lenovo driver matrix. It adds a lot more features.

Also, make sure that the related wake on link settings are correctly defined: Wake on Magic Packet, etc.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • WoL not working not not on NB550D

    Good evening

    hoping someone can help here.

I have a Toshiba Netbook NB550D, connected to my home network via a LAN cable.
BIOS is the latest available version (v1.40)
WoL setting enabled in the BIOS and in Windows NETWORK card driver

I try in vain to wake the portable computer.
Strange thing is that sometimes it works (1 in 10 attempts).

I tried several Android applications as well as my WoL built-in to my billion router function.

Anything else I should look at?

    Thanks in advance

As you say, the WOL must be enabled in the BIOS.
You should also check the LAN card properties.

    Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab

There are a few options that must be verified as to allow only a magic packet wake the computer

By the way: test the WOL using some 3rd party software like WakeMeOnLan v1.66

I'm not 100% sure on this subject, but I do not. I believe that all of the settings in the BIOS are for ports for laptop only and have no influence on the additional hardware such as PCMCIA cards.

    Hello

I just bought the Satellite T500.
I was told I could just plug the antenna and it would work, but when I click on HDMI output icon I get the msg "it is only effective when the pc is connected to a TV set that supports HDMI control via the HDMI cable.

Does this mean that I have to do something else in order to make it work?

  • Thermal management T500

I have a T500 with P8400 and integrated graphics. Even if the laptop is almost always cold (and besides I use Thermaltake fanless cooling pad ixsoft) fan is almost always lit (Everest indicates that, even with the kernel time about 30 C). The fan is only triggered when it is rather cold (17th century) in the room (using the profile of energy of maximum battery life).

    This behavior is ok?

What is the threshold temperature to start the fan?

How can I change the thermal management? (I tried BIOS and ThinkVantage power management)

    Hello

    Try the small program fancontrol.

    or Tpfancontrol of Troubadix.

If all goes well, it works on the latest systems of T.

  • T500 - how to change discrete ATI graphics card?

I can't work on how to spend my (ok my wife!) T500 to use the ATI graphics card. Everything I read says do a right click on the battery icon, and then select "maximum performance" or words to that effect. So I did. Then what? It is still using the Intel chipset, even after a reboot. Is there something I'm missing or not to see?

    Thank you

I installed updates some time ago and the problem has been corrected. Not very impressed it worked not out of the box.

  • T500 SSD Samsung Evo 840

    Hello

I've had a T500 laptop for about 4.5 years now and I'm looking to replace my HARD drive. I'm afraid that happens at the end of its service life. I'm looking to replace it with an SSD - especially a Samsung 840 EVO (MZ-7TE250BW). I am aware that I won't speed SATA III (seems to be SATA I or possibly II - even then it will still be an improvement from my HARD drive).

From what I found, the T500 has a drive Bay 2.5 "9.5 mm. However, the EVO 840 is 2.5 "7.0 mm. So my question is this - can be PLOPPED in the SSD to replace the HARD drive, or is there some necessary adapter kit? The player would need a different box / rails? Obviously 7.0 mm would fit, but I don't know if the screws / connectors were queuing and if something would be needed to fill the extra space to make the drive safer. There are a bunch of EVO 840 which comes with a 'portable' kit but I don't know if it works in my T500.

    Thank you

    Mark

    Welcome to the forum!

I have installed a number of 7mm SSD using the standard a 9mm HARD drive caddy/rails. Have not yet tested the EVO, but I do not think that you will have problems here.

    Happy update.

  • T500 completely scrambled discrete graphics

My T500 has developed a serious problem with the video of the graphic interface is completely corrupt.

I tried on the features of dual screen with my L170p monitor. As I used it, I noticed a video corruption, particularly on applications slipped between the views. Finally, I decided that it is not really me anyway, and so I minimized the 2 display resolution (800 x 600) and disabled the option "extend my Windows desktop on this monitor.

However, corruption has continued and I decided to restart it. However, before I could, the machine gave a BSOD that was mostly unreadable. Reboot, the Windows XP splash screen was also altered; I tried to use the Fn + F7 to switch to the external display, but it was no better. Try to connect fingerprint BSOD machine'ed - this text is unreadable, but I saw the word '' parity '' in there. From this point, it went from bad to worse. Connect the external display and try to get the BIOS with the F1 to the ignition, I could see a text there, but it is mostly illegible and overlapping with lots of video noise and the vertical bars cyan, flashing boxes of all colors, etc..

Somehow, I managed to do enough to get the BIOS to switch to the built-in graphics card and was able to boot Windows and install the Intel graphics driver, so the machine is little functional again.

However, go back to "discrete graphics" gives the same problem: no video on the internal LCD screen, only scrambled on the external monitor. If I allow Windows to start with discrete graphics, TI BSOD with an unreadable screen for the most part, but it seems to speak to shut down Windows to avoid damaging the material and the word 'conflict' is here, too.

Configuration: T500 type 2081-CTO, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP SP 3, fully updated with drivers

Display of the BIOS settings (all other settings are default):

    Main default video device: internal

    Initializing display: Thinkpad LCD

: Initially graphics discrete graphics, now integrated Graphics

OS detection for switchable graphics: disabled

I wondered if the bi-ecrans mapped configuration somehow ATI video RAM so that it comes into conflict with the top of that 4 GB of RAM. Remove a 2 GB DIMM has not helped. However, once the machine has restarted successfully with Windows, the ATI driver has not been loaded (as the discreet graphics card has been disabled) and so perhaps all that has been mapped has not been not mapped? However, I expect memory graphic mapping be reset to zero at the start anyway. And since the video is so completely that screwed up at startup, it is resembling more a permanent hardware failure, in which case the machine back under warranty.

Are there any other suggestions on how to proceed?

    Best regards

    -The

The machine came back last Friday - the technology has replaced the video chip, as well as the keyboard, for some reason any. He had also installed Vista x 64; I tried to learn to love it, I really have, but after a few days, I have decided that the benefits outweigh the problems of compatibility, I got with my (admittedly old) version of Lotus Notes. So I reinstalled XP Pro and everything is now back to normal - although I'm not willing to try the external chart again on this machine.

  • T500 and Win 7

I'm curious to know if/when Lenovo T500 will begin to support ThinkVantage applications on the platform of Win 7?

I was wondering which application you want to say. 99% of recently published applications are works perfectly with the T500. For me only the scanner digital (I think it's my fault) and function of graphics card switch (catalyst 9.4 modded works almost, just crashes )

Surprisingly, use native/programs Vista drivers, most of them works. 7 specific updates can be found on: http://www.lenovo.com/windows7beta
