10.11.4, no WOL on Ethernet function

Hello

I m on iMac 21.5 "2009 and after a 10.11.4 WOL on Ethernet update does not work. It does on WLAN and as I

I went back to a 10.11.3 version and it works, I think that there must be the update.

Unfortunately, I imported and dealt with a large number of photos currently on the new version and the doesn´t library work with 10.11.3.

Does anyone have a work around for this problem?

THX,

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

    Hello

I work as a system administrator and having 5 of these p6232it on LAN workstations. Product no: VS351AA-ABZ build No.: 94CEv6PrA3, and the BIOS revision is 5.07 (2009-07-06). I can't use the Wake-On-Lan feature, although all other machines (especially s-HP and IBM-s 43) on LAN are able to wake up when the signal is sent to them.

I tried different settings in the BIOS - did not help.

I looked at the specs of the motherboard via: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01746799

It says that the ethernet controller is Realtek 8111 DL, so I found it's specifications at: http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=193

It is clear that it supports Wake-on-LAN and wake up remote assistance. Intel G43 Express Chipset also supports this feature, but there is no setting for it in the BIOS. I tried to find the update of the BIOS for that motherboard but had no success.

My questions are: is the function WOL implemented on this specific motherboard? How to activate it?

    I would appreciate any advice.

You will need to install a PCI or PCIe x 1 card network to enable WOL. That function is not installed in the Pavilion p6232it desktop computer BIOS.

I came across a similar problem during a network turnkey installation here in the Netherlands. I installed as an Intel Pro/1000 GT PCI network cards.

  • E2500

    Just installed the E250...

I want to be able to pick movies from internet on my TV in the next room... wifi?

My TV is a Vizio model E422VA.

What should I do to put in place?

    Thanks, Jim

As soon as you put on your HDTV, you configure your network connection using the Setup application. If you do not, or if your configuration has changed, you can do it in the network menu. The Ethernet function on your HD TV is used to access the Internet. Your HDTV also has 802.11n wireless, you can connect your TV to the Internet through your home wireless network. A wired connection can deliver a more consistent connection depending on the conditions in your family. When you enter in the network Menu, you will see your current connection method.

To answer your question of capital letters: no, the behavior of your Ethernet card, including its lights, has nothing to do with your telephone modems, current or previous.

You have the Setup "Wake on Lan" in the BIOs? The function to the computer be awakened my network entries. You will need to start in the BIO to disable this feature. You may be able to disable this feature in Windows 7 as well. Here is a good article on how to enable/disable the wake on LAN feature: Wake - on - Lan (WOL) for Windows 7 Made Easy!

    I hope this helps!

  • Ethernet questions

So I don't know what is happening but I had an internet outage the other day for about 36 hours when some construction cut my ISP ADSL line and never feel things acted like weird, but from what I can tell it's my 4th gen time capsule at fault.

Only 1 of the 3 ethernet ports seems to put on the internet. I use the other to my basement, and it sometimes says it's on the right of the network with no internet access, but most of the time just says unidentified network, no internet access. He worked all day but seems to just decide he doesn't want to chance.

The other problem is that the TC itself appears to be loss of connection randomly with flashing orange. When reset, it works again. Don't know what is happening here. I use a PPPOE set up to connect via the TC; the ADSL modem is connected via Ethernet. Nothing has changed on my end, this could be a service provider because of the failure?

    Thank you

Also, the modem is a router?

What is the make and model?

I use it as a router and try again with just the bridge the TC.

    PPPOE can be problematic.

Ethernet ports can blow... If you get a tip to the top of the line... then we can take any ethernet port connected to both... If that includes the Port of the TC WAN no longer functions as a router.

You have a little work to understand the question... but another router is key.

  • How to use Airport Extreme with ethernet leased line

    Hello friends,

I was wondering if Airport Extreme is a true router, can I connect gout ethernet of my leased line directly in its WAN port, rather than put the provided ISP router between the two? I have lived many positions and all seem to suggest the connection of a cable/dsl modem to the WAN port on the extreme. Not found any information where it shows the ethernet line rented directly linking in the Giga WAN port, without any 2nd device in the meantime.

If it's possible, then I guess also what public IP provided PSI can be put into the WAN of AE interface. Can someone develop more on it and detail the steps of configuration? Given that EI has basic firewall NAT, I think it's doable, but can someone confirm please.

    Thank you very much.

Temporarily, if you connect your computer directly to the Ethernet line, can you get a good connection Internet in this way?

If so, then AIrPort Extreme could function as a router for you, but you are also likely to face a Double NAT error on the network. How well... or, even if... This might work cannot be known until try you it.

The wireless seems to be connected and functional, (I forgot my password-never use wireless), but no internet ethernet?

Is there a solution > get another mobo... put updated the driver... the bios setting?

    I don't think so.

Download and install this free utility for files.

The 2nd listed file is 64-bit.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

Then download and save, but do not run the ethernet driver from the support page of your PC.

This package provides the original driver for Atheros Ethernet Controller solutions in the supported models that are running a supported operating system.

    File name: sp56617.exe

Right click on the ethernet atheros driver you downloaded and select 7 - zip from the list of items.

Have 7-Zip extract of: and let it extract the file in the file name (sp56617).

Go to Device Manager and click on the ethernet controller needing drivers.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

  • Thunderbolt WiFi vs Ethernet

    Hello

I have a question about the Ethernet Thunderbolt vs Wifi connection. I have a stable Wifi connection. When I connect the Ethernet Thunderbolt now, then the network connection should go automatic on the Ethernet connection without disconnecting Wifi. Is this possible?

Is this the right menu? Because it is not logical if Wifi is on top or the Thunderbolt Ethernet? Is there another menu for this function?

Is this menu only when I start the computer?

    Thank you for your answers

This list shows only the default order for a network connection. If both the operation and available, then it should use the computer Ethernet or Wi - Fi. But you do not specify if you have even a Thunderbolt Ethernet configuration that works. Your computer has an Ethernet port, so there is no reason to use this. But it seems that you do not have a normal Ethernet configuration.

  • WoL not working not not on NB550D

    Good evening

    hoping someone can help here.

I have a Toshiba Netbook NB550D, connected to my home network via a LAN cable.
BIOS is the latest available version (v1.40)
WoL setting enabled in the BIOS and in Windows NETWORK card driver

I try in vain to wake the portable computer.
Strange thing is that sometimes it works (1 in 10 attempts).

I tried several Android applications as well as my WoL built-in to my billion router function.

Anything else I should look at?

    Thanks in advance

    CECU

As you say, the WOL must be enabled in the BIOS.
You should also check the LAN card properties.

    Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab

There are a few options that must be verified as to allow only a magic packet wake the computer

By the way: test the WOL using some 3rd party software like WakeMeOnLan v1.66

  • Cannot install ethernet on Satellite 1710 CDS

Hi, I have Satellite 1710 CDS.
This laptop has RJ45 wording "Ethernet" connector on the rear side.

In my book there is not written anything on the inbuild ethernet card. Photos of manual shows back of laptop, it has drawn no ethernet connector, but my laptop has had! Is this possible?

Why toshiba is not talking about ethernet in the manual for CD of Satellite 1710 and my 1710 has? I don't understand.
Windows ME cannot recognize this net adapter. I don't know what drivers should I look for. Please help me or give me advice. Thank you.

    Hello

Sorry, I have you dissappoint! Satellite 1710CDS has NOT built in LAN!

The cover has only a black RJ45 model at the backsite without function!

  • Portege 3940ct OS upgrade to function disabling Lan of XPSP2-Driver issues

I have canvassed all discussions on this forum (and others) and have not found a solution to my problem. But, its obvious that major thinkers on Toshiba laptop configuration problems are here. So, if there is a solution to my problem, my best shot is in this forum.

I'm pretty advanced in troubleshooting on this issue and the only thing that makes me think that there is a solution, it is it seems that others have installed XP on this unit.

    I have a ct of 3940; I upgraded from W2kPro to XPSP2;
I downloaded and installed the bios, drivers and toshiba utils for unity on the Toshiba site.

I have confirmed that all components of the system are operational. This includes a cdrom pcmcia, a network port replicator

    Everything is beautiful... EXCEPT:

    I have no network function.

Indeed, I have basically no internet communication that it works either - even through the modem. The modem composed and as soon as the provider of the Internet service provider sends a handshake of communications, Windows XP Home edition do not recognize and disconnects. (I have not tried to fax a document - but I don't think that is relevant to the problem).

Indeed, any type of network connection device, I try to install on the device, the device driver is not installed. This includes the network cards pcmcia (Wi - Fi 10/100 and base a - g) and usb based of a to g wireless adapters.

Initially, after the installation of Windows XP Home edition, I found that I could not get a connection to the local network through network port replicator.

To power on, loads WXP b/f, the network port replicator connection LEDs indicate a connection. Once expenses WXP, the port is disabled. [All other functions on the Port Replicator is operational under WXP].

After logging in to Windows XP Home edition, Windows XP Home edition detects "new hardware" and produced through the driver install process. He then began to try to install an "unknown device". Ithen reports thatit can not locate a driver, then prompt for the user at the end of the routine of material to add.

Device Manager reports several devices with yellow warning flags indicating that the device driver could not be installed.
A look at the Details tab on the "unknown device" (the tab 'network device') indicates that the driver who has a problem is 'rasirda.sys '. Device Manager will not allow the device to uninstall.

Other devices that have the yellow flag are:
    1 Toshiba FIR Port Type-D0
    2 IrDA Protocol (hidden feature)
    3 TCPIP (hidden feature)
and a network card, I try to install.

Facilities of device driver for network adapters, including the network port replicator controller (Intel 8255 x based pci Ethernet adapt (10/100) and his sister pilot), does not install (and will not uninstall until the device is removed).

A glance at the window of the administrator system "Services" shows that essentially all the services necessary to support network/internetrleated services are disabled. Dependencies show that all these services depend, directly or indirectly, on "services.exe". This service will not run, and when the service is to begin, WXP reports that the service.exe does not start the program described.

Topic 'Information System', a glance at the 'network' tab indicates that there is an adapter called "RAS Async card" disabled.

My first approach to this problem was to reinstall the update of the Toshiba driver for the controller Toshiba FIR. Nothing helps.

The next thought was simply to disable the function of TREE, but that cannot be done at the level of the bios... and well, as ambitious as I am, I didn't venture into the machine to determine if the IR controller could be disconnected or removed from the system board. [But if it is a possible solution, then I'll go...]

As noted above, the only reason for which I hope is it seems that others have run successfully of XP on the 3xxx series porteges, who, to my knowledge all have this same IR port. Also, Toshiba has even written an XP driver for the device.

What I find curious, among other things, is that Device Manager reports the Rasirda.sys device on the network adapter tab. I would have thought it would have been reported under the 'no plug and play' or the tabs 'system device. Whatever it is, it seems that Toshiba has implemented the infrared device such as a network adapter, or at least that's how WXP is grateful.

I searched the internet, on the site of Toshiba, microsoft XP, knowledge databases, Web pages etc. and did not meet all the remarkable solutions se... Although I enjoyed some of the protocols troubleshooting - not my real ambition.

Bottom line, is that I have this computer connected to the internet. With all protocols, and internet communications services disabled, even through the modem... Well, its ridiculous. I can't yet register WXP! Absurd is that! Well well its been late.

I hope someone will have a solution/workaround solution that will solve this problem.

In the meantime, I think that the next step is to start over and reinstall XP and try... again.

I'd appreciate any help that anyone can gather.

    Hello Andrew

It's always interesting that a lot of users are trying to install WXP on older models. Respect! The problem is that 3xxx Portege is not supported for Windows XP Home edition and I wonder that you have found the drivers and tools for this device. On Toshiba Europe don't here are some drivers for Windows XP Home edition and I assume you found the download of some of them on Toshiba U.S. page.
    Am I wrong?

Sorry but I have no concrete solution to your problem
